Description
EDIT: Added disclaimer and corrected some mixups with the tribes in the story.
Please read:
Belium is a conceptual album made for the impressions jam OST #2 that tells the story of fictional tribes through sound, mirroring the rise and fall of civilizations.
The album is structured in five movements, each inspired by a stage in an empireâs life cycleâexpansion, unification, prosperity, war, and downfall.
PAINTING 1 â THE FIRST CLASHES
Track 1 â Shibinito Face InTras'tes
The soundscape is divided: on the left, the music of the Shibinito tribe; on the right, the InTras'Tes war drums. As the battle unfolds, Shibinitoâs melodies fade, their rhythms overtaken. Some of their instruments begin to adopt the InTras'Tes patterns, symbolizing stolen technology and forced adaptation. A lone voice is added to the InTras'Tes choirâevidence that a few Shibinito survivors have joined their ranks. As the sound pans right, We start hearing distant echoes of a cheerful tune from an unknown village.
Track 2 â InTras'Tes Invade Kentyans
The cheerful tune of the Kentyan village sets the stage, but soon, from the left, the InTrasâTes war drums arriving can be heard. The Kentyan princessâs flute flees first, followed by warriors and villagers. The Kentyan king and his most loyal soldiers stand their ground, represented by deep strings and the unwavering tone of the dhong. But the InTras'Tes emerge victorious. Their song absorbs the defeated strings of the Kentyansâyet no new voices join their choir, a sign that no Kentyan willingly followed them.
PAINTING 2 â UNIONS AND CONQUESTS
Track 3 â Shibinito Meet Kentyans
A flute melody drifts from the leftâthe last gift of the Shibinito people, written by a fallen kingâs brother in his honor. From the right, the Kentyan princess plays a sorrowful tune for her father. As they approach, their melodies intertwine, forming something newâa fusion of past traditions, giving birth to the Shikentyanit civilization.
Track 4 â The Tale of the Five Tribes
The InTras'Tes army marches forward, crushing three villages in its path. With each conquest, new instruments are added to their arsenal, and new voices bolster their choir. But when they reach the final village, their arrogance becomes their undoing. The peaceful melody they heard from afar masked a deadly ambush. The InTras'Tes are slaughtered, their expansion halted. Yet, as the victorious Arostians return to their tranquil song, two faint voices from the InTras'Tes choir remainâwhispers of a legacy that may still endure.
Track 5 â Times of Peace
The newly formed Shikentyanit tribe thrives. Their song is bright, joyfulâan homage to the old Kentyan traditions, but with old rhythms and fresh melody. The cycle of war has, at least for now, given way to harmony.
PAINTING 3 â AN EMPIRE AT ITS PEAK
Track 6 â Times of Prosperity
Melodies overlap, harmonies clash and mergeâthis is not chaos, but the sound of a great metropolis, where different cultures coexist in a vast and intricate dance. The Shikentyanit empire has flourished, its music rich with history, its layers a testament to its complexity.
Track 7 â A Tras'Te Ruler Over Arostian
A whisper spreads through the cityâan ambitious ruler has uncovered their InTras'Tes ancestry. The once-forgotten war choirs begin to resurface, and unease settles over the kingdom. The people tremble at the thought of what is to come.
Track 8 â We Are Warriors
The Shikentyan people, faced with a looming threat, awaken their warrior spirit. Their anthem resoundsâa defiant cry, an assertion of their strength and history. The echoes of their ancestors live on in their battle song.
PAINTING 4 â THE GREAT WAR
Track 9 â The Great War
From the distance, the InTras'Torians approach. The march builds, and thenâchaos. The battle erupts into pure sonic devastation. Harmonies shatter, rhythms clash, melodies collapse into disarray. The empire fights for survival, but war spares no one.
PAINTING 5 â THE FALL
Track 10 â The Last of the Shikentyans
A single flute and a solemn bass remain, playing in the vast emptiness where an empire once stood. The war is over. The cities are gone. But their echoes linger, whispering the story of what was lost.
Disclaimer: Unfortunately to adhere with the jam deadline, I had only 3 days to conceptualize, compose and mix this work.
The mix suffered quite a bit, even having some instruments left out like the heavy distorted guitars and piano.
2 songs were left out "Civil Unrest" (Painting 4) & "What once stood"(Painting 5)
And "The Great War Pt.1" & "The Great War Pt.2" merged into "The Great War"
Civs loopables also left out.

This sounds amazing! I love the textures, specially the drums and flutes. Really great job I can imagine this music with a film or a AAA videogame, awesome work!
I can tell there was a lot of thought put into the music as well as the story to create a really unique and interesting submission. Wonder what this would have sounded like if you had more time. Great work with the time you had!
Very nice submission, it's very amazing you did all those tracks in so little time !
I enjoyed the journey you took me through !
Only thing that comes to my mind is maybe I found the flute sound a bit overused (maybe that's just me though !), and that's why I really loved Times of Prosperity, the strings are a very cool contrast to that, and you got some sweet chords and dissonnance, definitely my favorite !
Well done !
Wow...Just WOW. Not sure if you realized that you pretty much wrote a Theatrical Play or Opera. This could also be a story narrated to children/babies. My Criticism is for more lore, on these Shibinito and InTras'Tes tribe. The story reminds me of the Persian or Roman empire. Nice work
"Shibinito Face InTras'tes" is reminiscent of patapon.
InTras'Tes Invade Kentyans, love the rhythm but hate the flute. It sounds like a cheap imitation made with sforzando. which would alright for me if i didn't view it as a flute or woodwind. its something about it sounds like a robotic recording triggered by midi. Maybe more variation in the vibrato? but i digress. I apologize, trying to be rude, love the song after flute part.
My favorite was Times of Peace. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback!
Rude? No, not at all! All feedback is good feedback, I want to grow as much as I can
I have yet to listen to it (ridiculous I know) and honestly now I'm just going to listen after I rated ail the entries (like4/5 last, no biggie) but I know what flute you are talking about, and I agree, was not very happy with the VST sound already when composing, but you know, not much time xD
Take care :3
Love this submission! I feel like you put in a tone of work to get this done! I love the play between the different songs and how you progress from a tribe to peace and war. Oh.. So awesome! You really got a good feel for the music that it fits the challenge very well! Loved track 8. It was my favorite.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give your feedback!
I'm very happy to read this, it was a challange I did love and I was pretty happy overall when I was exporting it and been happier with the feedback
I think track 8 will always be my favorite too even after I revisit the project and properly finish it
Take care :3
Incredible effort, especially within such a tight timeframe! The way you weave leitmotifs and rhythmic elements really unites the OST. What an achievement!
Thank you for your feedback!
It was trully an effort to get this much done knowing I'd have so little time, I'm really happy the intertwining of the songs and their elements did their job with the story.
Still haven't heard yours as I didn't find a link for a streaming, will go over it tomorrow along side the last 4, I do have quite expectation :D
Take care!
Interesting story, and thatâs a lot of track, I love rhythmic drum, really add the texture, my favorite track is âWe are warriorâ, thanks for sharing this cool composition!
Thank you for the feedback !
Ye mine too, i believe We are Warriors feels it really came from the heart :3
Fascinating story! I think that adds a lot, and it was cool to read as I listened. Times of Peace is my favorite, the rhythms are awesome!
Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback! Great that you did that i believe it should be the bezst way to experience it :3
I believe thats my gf fav too
Impressive amount of work, I like the use of the leitmotiv to keep your sense of cohesion between the tracks. I really liked Time for prosperity it was a nice change of pace from the ethnic flute. A couple of tracks just ends abruptly but I guess its probably just lack of time, you needed to compose and mix everything in such a short amount of time. Great job !
Hey man, thank you for the feedback :D
Well, only one song kinda ends abruptly, so I have to assume I did poopoo when doing the time selection for the renders.. time was of the essence and all but I think I did a bad job organizing the work in this project, its like just one reaper file with the songs, the improvises and all in one, like 40+ tracks (buses incl) and like 2hour file with sometimes 10 min of silence between one track or pseudotrack and another, actually something I have to reflect about
Im very happy to know that you liked Time for Prosperity, due to the intensity of the next two tracks I felt like I may have lacked a bit on it, but its kind of a pretty important track to the story.
I think it's an impressive number of tracks. We Are Warriors is probably my favorite. I think it needs a little reverb especially for the flutes and drums because they got a little grating. You used some tritones which I think fit in some songs but in track 4 I think it doesn't fit well with the guitars over it. I also think some of the tracks got repetitive so just try to switch up the voicings of the melodies or play a bridge or a different verse before repeating it. Nonetheless you should feel proud of this!
Thank you for taking the time to give some feedback :)
We Are Warriors is my favorite too, it was the first one, it probably got more atention.
I'm currently not remembering the guitars in track 4, it may have some dissonanced melodies from the conquered tribes but the InTras'Tes sound is always the same, I will have those points in mind when I listen (still didn't manage to do that xD) and for sure when I revisit the project!
For just 3 days you managed to get quite a lot of music done!
Really like the material itself, but like you mentioned about the mix, some instruments feel a bit too "in your face" for the lack of a better word đ .
Only thing that felt pretty off to me in the mix was the really dry flute and some percussion sounds.
Putting those in a more bigger sounding space with reverb would help them blend with the other more spacious sounds, elevating the feel of the tracks a lot.
Good job, and see you in the next oneđ!
Thanks :)
Ye, im not sure I even added any Revs, the mix was basically just some volume adjusts and EQing so it wouldn't sound very plastic, and the direction paning of some buses, shame that some important details might get lost, like the Picolo's melody in We are Warriors, which is where the melody from the last song derives from.
I thought this ended on the 16th so I let it pass since this week aint going to be that busy, until I went to show the itch page to a friend Thursday :')
Very cool! I can see how much thought you put into the story being told and how you've expressed that musically. The tribal vibe is a good fit for something along the lines of Age of Empires, which by definition I'd call a success đ
Awesome!! I went for RTS, and you can't write RTS wihtou AoE xD
Becuase I didn't make the loopables, I feared my focus on telling the story would take that essence away, very happy it didn't <3
