Hello, i want to ask, dowes this tool also work for other engines like RPG Developer Bakin and RPG Architect ? Or only in RPG Maker ?

I can't speak for the other engines but if it generates standard character sheets I can guarantee it will work with RPG Architect.

Probably not by default. You might have to do some image placement manipulation in order to fit whatever standard your particular engine follows.

RPG Developer Bakin:

  • Overworld Sprites: x Slice Size 16, y Slice Size 20, Down/Left/Right/Up
  • Portraits: You'll need to split these into individual sprites, and seem to need to reference the file directly during scenes, rather than attaching it to a character.
  • Battler Sprites: Bakin wants all the animations to be their own spritesheets, so you will have to chop them up and reorganize. That said, it's hard to figure out the order of sprites on the battler sheet...

RPG Architect:

  • Overworld Sprites: Frame Height 20, Frame Width 16, Oriented Around Center Frame = true
  • Portraits: Seems like you can directly reference the tile sheet and crop it, and it is tied directly to the character, though I'm not sure if you can change it through code (telling it to uses sprite 0-8 to change the emotions.)
  • Battler Sprites: Architect is able to crop the spritesheets, however the organization of the sprites seem incompatible, and probably requires some reorganization.

I'm sorry if there are any mistakes. I don't have either programs to actually test anything and am just going off of what I could skim from youtube videos.

Is there any news available regarding the update?

Just picked this up during the winter sale, and I have to say it's the most impressive and robust character creator I've found yet! And, I love the style! I can't wait for more clothing options, because IMO, that's the only thing keeping this from being 100% perfect for my project.

Thanks for making this!

Hope the project isn't dead.

Just wanted to say this generator, even with the limited clothing options so far, went a LONG way to fixing an issue I was having with my game; namely not having matching-style faces for non-playable plot characters. Thank you SO much for all the hard work, and I can't wait to see what else you put out. Hopefully, this will help reinvigorate me to finish my game XD

So this is already dead?  Damn, that's disappointing.

Such a great tool, so sad that the development on it seems to have stopped :(

Even sadder considering at this point adding more clothing and whatnot would make the tool exponentially better and more usable :(

Yeah, I just dropped $50 on it thinking "Oh, they said way back in September that an update was coming within weeks, so surely it's been implemented by now!" Dig further in, and it's been radio silence. Which is a shame because it really is a good generator, best I've used so far. Visustella's generator burned me in the past, and years later it's still not all that usable. But the two outfits in the Tiny Tales gen is kind of a deal breaker for me. I was willing to wait based on how good the engine is in this state, but their radio silence for months to their customers kind of shatters any confidence, so I'm thinking of contacting support for a refund and just check back down the road to see if Mega Tiles ever picked this back up again.

I emailed a week ago asking any updates and got no response, sadly seems it's dead..

I feel bad for anyone that bought it when it was released.  I got it as part of owning the previous one.

The generator is awesome and the characters super cute, I still hope that this project is only on stand by and will continue soon or later :]

Especially for the outfits; I've remade a part of the generator in my game for my needs, using the spritesheets, but now I need to make more outfits for my different classes, I hope that's the result will not be too bad compared to the assets (≧∇≦)

Damn, did the devs really bail on this, like people are saying?  I'm not feeling particularly swindled, since I got it fairly cheap on a bundle that included some other stuff, but it still sucks, I was really looking forward to seeing this developed.  It's not really usable with only two outfits.

I've noticed this is a pattern with this dev.  He's active then he disappears for a long time then suddenly comes back for a little bit and then disappears again.  He hasn't posted anything on his Bluesky in over 5 months as well so who knows what happened.  All I know is this isn't a very good way to do business.  If something is happening in your life that is going to cause you to have to step away you need to let your community know.  Now if something sudden happened which prevented him from doing that then that would explain it which I hope that's not the case but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well I asked itch.io a month if they could try ask the developer, they basically told me to fuck off and that it's all our faults for "buying it on vague promises"... guess we're never a update or anything at this point.

With this answer I think they are more of the repayment idea than asking developer to continu it; they probably don't have any more information than us so I don't believe their answer changes anything.

I don't blame the developer, sometimes things does not take place as desired, you lost envy, the amount of work is higher that you though... And the feeling to be forced is one of the worst thing for an artist.

Didn't he 'offered' this to the ones who bought previous abandoned project ? I don't think he has malicious attents (perhaps he should just consider avoiding selling uncompleted projects).

Atleast me I don't feel scammed, the generator is already strong and I found what I was searching first (even if I have more work than expected to do on it); I still hope that this project will be continuing, but if the developer could just clarify the project situation (and potentially share some work done but not included yet in this version), I would be happy =)

I wasn't even asking for a refund or anything, was genuinely just curious if they could reach out to him, and see what's up, as they would have more contact info since they have to give payouts to him.

And ye, I get that shit happens, hell I've been guilty of similar with personal projects irl that got caught in progress hell for various reasons. I just genuinely want some clarity from the developer as he said months ago that there would be a update in a week or so and then vanished.

Hold up, just so we're on the same page - was it itch.io that said that, or the developer?  Because of the developer said that, that's a pretty big problem.

Itch.io said it, I emailed the developer around the same time as well but they still haven't replied.

Lets just hope the dev is alright, not postin on Bluesky for 5 months is definitely worrying. Still a very good asset, hopefully we might see it blossom in the future :)

It seems like this dev updates his stuff like I do my RPG Maker projects.  Two months of hyper focused effort with a ton of progress, then burnt out for 6 months.

I disagree with most of the complaints. I feel like these assets are well worth the wait as well. This is just how some artists work. Some of us suck at timeframes, too. But, Mega Tiles always come back eventually with excellent quality work. Also, great opportunity while they're not here to practice your own pixel art and try to make your own custom sets for this software.

I get that it sucks to wait for stuff, especially when the person you're waiting on might be bad at communicating realistic timeframes. But have faith, Mega Tiles usually pulls through.

Okay so do we call it dead now?

Their lack of communication certainly doesn't bode well, but it's a bit early to call the project dead.

Sadly I would assume so. They've not said anything for 7 months now, and they said it would only be a few weeks back then. I don't mean this to be a bitch, but when multiple people bought it on the promise of said updates, I feel like Itch should at least partially refund them.

Well, I certainly wouldn't complain if I got a partial refund, but I doubt that'll happen.  Itch doesn't generally do refunds in the first place, though it's happened to me at least once (that was for something much more egregious than this).  Plus, buying early access is always a risk (... even if I didn't necessarily know when buying it that it'd be THIS "early access", lol).

Can confirm, got a refund for this recently using the justification that the dev had made promises and then went completely radio-silent for almost a year. I didn't have to do any back-and-forth with anyone, they just refunded me.

Huh, interesting.  I'm not sure if that'd work for me since I got this as part of a bundle, most of the items in which seem to be finished projects.  Idk, it was only $20 and included a bunch of other assets I might use, so I'm not too beat up about it.

Glad to hear we can get refunds.  This is just far too little for far too long.

Dunno what happened to my previous comment, did itch delete it? But seriously, it's been 11months now with nothing, I'm sadly going to just write this off as a scam now and hope itch prevents others from buying this because of misleading promises. If anyone can actually read this without buying, please don't waste your money, the dev clearly has no intent of updating it or anything.

an update from the dev wouldn't hurt about now even if its to say they are still working on it

Yea, I want to believe something just happened to require a long delay but no word from the dev just makes me give up hope, I'd love some big update to release for it that fixes everything, but I'll just stop waiting and see if it eventually releases.
