You're a hungry hungry molecule

this is easily one of the coolest concepts I’ve seen in this jam! unfortunately, it’s quite unapproachable.
the main issue is that pressing R sent me back to the first level of the test, forcing me to replay levels I had already solved, which eventually made me skip ahead to other tests instead (btw, the “TEST FIVE” button doesn’t work).
the second issue is how difficult it is to gauge jumps, which often lead to a situation where I was forced to press R, and I didn’t really feel like replaying previous levels over and over. I think it would be nice to see line of where the jump would send me, to emphasize the puzzle aspects instead of the “guess where this jump will take you” aspect.
the visuals are wonderful, I adore how things wobble around, it feels very lively. and it’s cool how the cursor pixelates stuff behind it, though something’s wrong with the scaling — it works well in 1080p fullscreen, but it seems too pixelated for the smaller embedded resolution.
I also really liked the writing, it’s informative and funny. I especially enjoyed the lines that called me out for skipping puzzles, like “solve it properly” and “can you please restart and try again” :)
overall awesome entry, only held back by a few issues — mainly that R sent me too far back, which eventually made me lose motivation to keep trying.
im glad you found it interesting! after the jam if i have time, ill 100% see to those problems - i noticed them too but lacked the time to change them. also glad SOMEONE found the unique dialogue lol
Congrats on your first game! You came up with a very neat concept!
I wonder if the introduction of elements could be a bit more progressive to better teach the player their effects?
The jumps are also a bit hard to master—maybe a dynamic line could be added to show the trajectory?
All in all, this is a nice puzzle angle that I would love to see pushed a bit further!
thank you!! and yes, I admit a lot of the game was rushed in it's progression, i intended to have double the levels but schoolwork and other stuff took up my weektime. In future I might update this with more content and better pacing, but for now i'm glad you enjoyed it :D
The puzzle can be a little tricky, but a is part of a good puzzle
Lots of cool mechanics, it just took me a bit to figure out what exactly was happening with the elements as I was adding them (might be intended; it just seemed like a lot all at once for me).
Overall pretty nice!
This game has great potential! I would love to see it expanded a bit more. With a little time and polish, this could be a sellable game. Needs some audio, too :)
I like the art style.
Great work!
thank you so much! and on my first game jam too!
indeed most of the game that feels worse off or unpolished is a result of the time limit, and if i have some spare time between projects I absolutely want to expand this more
If the game supports it, please consider enabling the “fullscreen button” in Itch’s settings.
I've been looking for this for so long thank you so much!
OK! With the fullscreen option I really like this game. Fun puzzles, but maybe a bit too easy to softlock yourself for “R” to take you all the way back to level 1. A nice addition would be a “move strength” meter of some kind. Really good entry!
Cool puzzler The tutorialization is nice, so you learn quickly what each element does and how the game works, but I had a bit of a hard time controlling the jumps, even if I knew what needed to be done to finish the level, I sometimes got stuck on a jump. Also, a restart button would have been nice
thanks! there is actually a restart button, the narrator mentions you can press R to restart, but yes it can get overlooked pretty easily. If i had more time I'd have made it a little more obvious
Interesting puzzler! Could use some music or sfx.
