Omg the idea is so cool! I gasped when realized the key mechanic, love it super much.
The graphics, sounds, and the whole atmosphere are just amazingg
Only problem is that I figured out a way to cheese it after a couple of minutes :( If you wait till water runs to the left part of the screen you can just jump over it and run straight to the door, that works every time xd
Despite that, I had lots of fun playing, and if you are planning to continue working on it please reach me out, I would love to help by playtesting it

Developer(+1)

You tricked the game ! D:

Thank you for your support and feedback <3

Glad you enjoyed the game :D

Will reach out if I need play testing for sure ! Thank you <33

Very interesting game, I was drawn in. good visuals and audio, but when you score a lot of points, the game slows down a lot and the water turns into mountains) but I was still interested in scoring as many points as possible and I think I did well, because I was able to score 91.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much <3

WOW 91 ! O.O well done !

Ill fix the lag when a lot of clones are spawned and the water as well after the jam :o

Thanks for playing, happy you enjoyed the game <3

Nice concept 👏👏👏

Just like everyone I found the pattern to jump exactly right before the end...

And it made the game more easier...

went from 20 to 45 points without even dying at all...

overall a fun concept..

Developer(+1)

Thanks <3

I wonder if you knew this strategy before or after seeing the comments :D

Thank you for playing <3

No... I didn't saw comments at all..

I realized how they copy my movements only near the end around level 20...

So I then understood and steamrolled through levels...

Smart ! B)

Thanks again for the feedback <3

I loved the idea of this game!

It kinda also works around this conspiracy of water people which I was told by some people - you see into the water reflection and then that reflection takes its own shape.

I am playing celeste right now.

and this reminded me of a similar mirror mechanic they have. It might be good to check that out for reference, if you already haven't.

Great job btw!

Developer(+1)

Thank you <33

I will check Celeste for the mirror refelction reference :D

Thank you for playing and the suggestion <3

Super polished, A proven core mechanic too as its a very good you create your own obstacles loop. I like the direction you've taken with this, instead of having different levels, making it a single loop & simple scoring system which is perfect for a game like this. I slightly wish the story was more deeper as it feels like left out potential but maybe that's just me 😅

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback <3

yea, I intended to make the player jump directly into the game :D
More like jump directly into the action ! No delay :3

Submitted(+1)

That again is a great thing to do, especially for game jams so I understand :D

Really liked the concept of your game! and I had fun playing. Great job!

Very nice concept overall -- it's a sweet and short experience, and I could easily see this becoming a fun challenge on the go (e.g., I tried the mobile version and it works quite well)

  • Big fan of the pixel art, and the light blue on the "copy" foxes makes them very easy to distinguish. Funnily enough, I happened to use "copies" in my game too, but you did a much better job of making them easy to differentiate.
  • An easy way to make the game more varied is to add random obstacles every time you make it across. The "copies" aren't affected by the physics of these obstacles, but you are. And maybe the obstacles have a `random.seed(date)` so every day, every player sees the same puzzle -- and a "daily leaderboard" would make it less daunting for newbies.
  • Edit: And I forgot to mention. The water sound is very satisfying and "feels" good. The waves work quite well up until you have 40 or so foxes jumping into the same location -- after that, you get really odd vibrations, but I suspect we're not supposed to get that far ahaha.

Which conspiracy theory were you after? Fantastic work, hope you build more on top of it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback and sweet words <33

I really love your suggestions !
Hopefully, after the game jam finish, I will add the random seed every day with a daily leaderboard ! :3

The theory was:
Water is Watching: The Conscious Liquid

Thanks again for playing <3

As the comment below says, you can pretty much get an infinite score if you just wait for the clones at the end and jump, you will never lose. However, before you discover that strategy the game has a very nice concept. Really liked the sound of the water. Also you could introduce some variations on the mechanic so it doesn't becomes repetitive.  Nice job on your game! <3

Developer

I never noticed this trick before ! :0

Hopefully, after the game jam, I will find a way to avoid that strategy and update the game ! :3

Thanks for playing and for the suggestions <3

You can wait at the beginning to jump over the clones there and never lose.

Developer

Smart strategy ! :D

I never thought of it before, will find a way to fix it after the game jam ! :3

Thank you for playing <3
