I think your composition and instrumentation totally fits! I mean your page submission photo is practically giving leading the listener to where you want to take us with the music, an unarmed person in a dark forest standing in front a monster 5 times their size. From what I could hear in the first 2 tracks was the audio clipping most of the time. I think this can be an effective device but if I were playing a game with one of these tracks on loop I would get listening fatigue. I think if you used these intensities at the right moment it could take your solid tracks and make them even better! Thanks for sharing!

Contrary to what i'm seeing in the comments (and most probably because of my personal taste), my favorite ones where actually the first and the second ones. Although they're a little too short (i would really like to see extended versions of them), I really liked the ambience and that uneasy, anxious and threathening tone they have, idk, i just really like that athmospheric vibe xD.

This feels like it's reaching for the theme a bit but I can see some of this being chase music? This ambience feels more at place at a wind tunnel unless the forest is particularly windy which would be uncommon. The piano feels a bit out of place and it does not feel as polished as the sound design aspects in terms of the velocity of each note.

These are some pretty dark and intense soundscapes which is an impressive skill to be able to create. I am actively becoming anxious just listening to these first two tracks (which I hope you take as a compliment)! I think it is smart that you used this jam to help motivate you to write music in anticipation for another project. Double-dipping can be great, though I think the theme may have veered a little tangential to how many others interpreted the theme “forest” as the primary aspect of their game idea. The final melodic piece was nice and adds a warm, but not fully resolved touch to conclude the game. Best of luck to you in your game creation! Your ambient pieces will certainly elevate the horror aspects! Great work and thank you for sharing!

I really appreciate it, man! I'm very glad to hear that you felt anxious and uneasy since that was the vibe I was going for! I like your point about the end credits theme not being resolved, and I did that because I wanted it to be along the lines of, "Is the story really over?" I'll definitely take this into account! Best of luck to you as well!

I'm not really getting forest vibes from these tracks. I don't understand why you didn't upload them as separate tracks.

The strongest of the three tracks is the last one, the end credits. I really like the layered pianos. That being said, it feels rather anticlimactic, or perhaps even unfinished. I would flesh it out by adding more instruments to make it more engaging.

Thanks for the feedback! I mainly made them like this because it was supposed to represent a horror game in a forest. It's dark, ambient sounds represent the forest and it was a blend of mainly sound design and music composition :)

Very good production quality! Has a very atmospheric vibe. I admittedly didnt read that they were three separate songs but i couldn't tell because they all fit together very seamlessly. Good work!

Developer

HAHA thank you! I'm happy to hear that it was able to give off that vibe!

Love the sound design and textures, especially in the first two pieces. The atmosphere is great! I do wonder if you could've incorporated more 'forest-y' sounds, I would love to feel more of the whispering leaves and rustling branches in the sound as well. Fantastic job though, had a great time listening to this!

Developer

Thank you, and that's a great point! I think adding the forest-y sounds would've helped a ton so I'll keep that in mind!

Hello! This is a collection of three songs for the Music Game Jam. The music was heavily inspired by The Ritual. I composed three songs: the main menu theme, the introduction, and the end credits theme. The main menu theme and the introduction are more ambient, and the end credits theme is more melodic. This perfectly fit a game that I'm planning on making during the summer where a player explores a dark forest in search of his wife

The audio file has three songs in the order listed above. I hope you enjoy.

My favorite out of the three is the end credits theme. I can imagine playing a long game and just sitting there reliving all the memories of the game as the names scroll up. Good work!

Thank you! I'm happy that was the feeling you got because I wanted it to sound that way!!
