Very neat entry! I was anticipating a bit of a horror twist, was quite surprised when I found out who the slasher was. If anything I felt like you could have twisted the knife more (into the grandma). Nice work with this one!
Very fun, I like the bunnyhopping and the art style. Though I think I sequence broke because I talked to the cave guy before the baker and got softlocked.
yeah that’s a know bug, I plan to fix it after the jam
Really cute (and creepy) entry!
Always cool to see things horror adjacent works, some notes from me: the movement felt really fast which I get, cause the map is really big. But considering the game is ment to be a bit spookier I think it would help build tension if you had to take your time to get places, let the anticipation build. Plus the move speed did make the platforming feel a little off for me.
I liked the transition from happy to spooky, the switch helped with the tone alot, and the contrast of the two style felt nice!
I did kinda wish there was a bigger pay off, I was half expecting on my walk back to the cave for a monster to come sprinting out of the woods and kill you (or grandma to come running at you and kill you hehe) but I understand thats quite a jump in required content and jams arent exactly fluid with time hehe.
this was super solid work, well done
this gives me creepypasta old game vibes! well done :) I really liked ps1 artstyle - why I’d kill my grandma tho :_
Spooky ! The warning at the start of the game reminds me of Resident Evil :p
The constrast between day and afet the cave works well ! Too bad there is a lot of invisible walls, because of that it was hard to guess the path to the forest. Well done :)
Well done.
I think it could use a tracking/follow camera to give a better feel of exploration to the game.
Game seemed to go way too dark for me so I quit.
Colours seemed dark and muted and could use some shadows even baked or sprite drop shadows.
Suggestion maybe start bright and cheerful before going dark although I think the mission could be take down enemies (wolves, eagles) and not bunnies?
I’m just kind of confused on a lot of these points
I don’t know what you mean by a “tracking/follow camera” as the camera does follow the player so I don’t know what you are referring to here
Gdevelop doesn’t support shadows right now, that I can understand as a misunderstanding (but yeah the game would be nice with shadows)
This part I am really confused on, the game does start bright and cheerful and becomes dark when you go to the cave that’s just fact, and you attack other rabbits because this is a horror game, it’s subversive horror that was the whole point of the game
I just want a clarification on what you mean with some of these points because I don’t really know what you are trying to say.
A third person chase camera that follows behind the player's character.
There is an old school approach where you put a circular semi-transparent shadow texture on a quad under your characters feet.
To me it seemed dark before the cave, could just be monitor brightness settings, check what other people experience.
And the theme was too dark for my taste, but that's just me.
The storytelling and atmosphere are both excellently done!
Like the graphics and the atmosphere! Didn't have enough of the story of rabbit from the cave. It would be cool to turn his guidance against him, "before you need to gain their trust" thing)
Cool game! The graphics were nice and I enjoyed exploring the environment. I did struggle a bit to find grandmas cane due to the fog and not knowing where to do look so I had to check out a video walkthrough in the comments. But other then that it was a nice experience.
Atmosphere was good! I couldn't control the camera until after my first killing lmao
Nice work! I found a berry after 10 minutes, lol.
Sunshine Rabbits was a a cool entry to me. It didn’t really stick to the limitations as much as it should have, which took away from the limitation score a bit. That said, the concept of Calico Critters being killers was actually great, and I really enjoyed that aspect. The music and sound design were solid, and I loved the characters talking and really it added a lot of personality.
However, the level design felt a little underwhelming. There wasn’t much variation, and adding something as simple as different tree heights could have helped make the environment feel less flat. I get that it’s a jam game with time constraints, but the stage could have used a little more polish. However, I really appreciate what you did with the graphics overall and using GDevelop is a task I could never achieve. Very good effort :)
Overall, while it had some strong points, it didn’t really come together fully for me. It has future potential, but the execution fell short. Cool idea, keep updating it!! Would love to get a second chapter :)
