Description
The genres vary from hardstyle, jungle, juke and dubstep. The game the soundtrack is composed for is a punk style skating rhythm game (e.g. Skate 3, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk). Each track represents different boss battles and they each have their own vibe to represent differing forms of rebellion (up for interpretation of course). I composed each track in Ableton Live 12 and my general approach to each track was to just let my brain flow and paint the most unhinged, raw and unfiltered canvas I could imagine. This is my general approach when composing OSTs and it hasn't failed me so far. I tried to go for an "all killer no filler" sort of approach, so the listener doesn't get bored while listening, as this also aligns with the general praxis and vibe of the game.

Theme

Freedom
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
It fits the theme because I imagine the game tackling ideas of punk and anarchic ideals. Skating in general already captures this vibe and I would also imagine myself listening to these tracks while skating. The whole "FREE THE STREETS" title comes from the slogan of Independent, which makes trucks for skateboards (highly recommend inde holos if you're building your own board for the first time). I digress, but I think this fits the theme of skating, obviously, but also plays in the whole idea of freedom, as being independent and free coincide almost every time. Overall, I think this fits the theme pretty accurately as it almost represents the idea of freedom to the T.

SOUND DESIGN! And yes, this post is also perfect for riding down the street with your homies and consuming something heavy and forbidden...

The soundbite of Louis saying "Peter" sent me for a loop omg. Really loved all the different effects and sounds going on at once, such cool tracks!

yep the game mentioned in the desc are very much the vibes i get from this. Amazing!

I really liked the hardcore-ness of this, the loud drums and everything. Some parts were a bit repetitive on RAILGRIND, but I still enjoyed it (especially the amen break at 1:13). Put some simple chords and it would be even more amazing.

I AM NOT CRAZY!

This was pretty freaking cool, I love how unapologetically in your face everything is, it feels like elements are fighting each other and I mean that in the best way lol

Petah stop using the magic mirror we're having Chuck over for dinner

Seriously impressive sound design work and fits the theme really well, speaking to my heart with those sample choices too.

Quite the variety of genres and sounds in this? The patches are all really well done though; the bass work throughout is sick. Nice and varied with plenty of movement. Handcrafted or heavily tweaked - they all fit nicely in the mix. Some really cool progressions and sequences - I love the TB303 style acid bass in RAILGRIND. The BCS samples caught me off guard and gave me a laugh - been a hot minute since I've watched the show!

All in all these are both super solid tracks - production quality on them is crazy for a 48hr jam. Interesting take on the theme but it works. Great execution all around. Best of luck!

A lot the synth patches I used were Virtual Riot presets that I tweaked to work the way I wanted. Having a solid understanding of Serum helped me out a lot here tbh. I really appreciate the feedback on the bass, I put the most amount of work into the low-end of my mixes and I'm overjoyed to hear!! :D

Seriously, thank you so much for the feedback :D Best of luck to u as well <3

Aha, Virtual Riot! His YT is a great source of inspiration and in-depth analysis on synthesis and the likes. Some of his SERUM stuff is really sick - it was through his video I even realized that SERUM 2 was out!

That aside, great work once again. The lower-end of these tracks were a delight to experience on headphones, and somewhat of a rarity. I feel like a lot of people like to crank out some heavy electronic bass without being able to keep it in line and tidy in the mix, but you nailed it with the production.

the rhythm change at 1:10 of "TRUCKZ" has me absolutely captivated. the "Peter" vocal chop also in a different way, but that's a discussion for another time LMAO i wasn't sure how much i might vibe with these tracks since electronic and EDM can be so diverse... turns out, these are very much danceable for me, "RAILGRIND" in particular! HAHA >:~)

the concept you envisioned for your project is great! i really love the way you connected to the theme of "freedom" for both the production and the thematic concept, very well done!!

I'm glad u vibed with these tracks, the jersey/juke kick patterns I used were certainly there to invoke that danceability LOLOL. Thank u so much for the kind words !! <3

yeah!! i struggle with sample-splicing and combining a variety of samples since that's not my realm of composing, your tracks would definitely be one of those i go back to for studying purposes ^^

As a skater myself, I totally get the vibe, and it's a creative way of expressing freedom even through the musical choice and the politic aspect, really like it !
the quality is clean, I would be very curious to play this game, it sounds pretty rageful and chaotic ahah, probably quite original to play. Great job :)

Not the terraria magic mirror sounds!

Oh wait, Petah, the crazy sampling is here.

This was hilarious honestly and I was never bored because I kept waiting to hear more random samples. It really fits the theme of freedom to me because you can add whatever you want to music, its FREE.

I really wish you had used "the horse is here" at some point that would have been the best thing ever.

Thank you so much for the feedback :-) !! I really wanted to keep whoever listened entertained and I'm glad I could achieve that. There's a whole lot more samples if u listen carefully (there's the Bodies scream and Gangstas Paradise buried in there as well).
