Description
It's a game about revisiting past and letting go. A walking sim/puzzle game. The House I Left is an 80s inspired synth track and the outro track that tries to express what has been with what could be while being minimalistic. The song was created in Ableton, all of the synths come from Analog Lab V and the drums are sampled from a 909 dum machine, hopefully screaming nostalgia.
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
It just feels like the character in the game is finally released from a past struggle attaining freedom

Lol, it definitely feels like a retro picture of a burning house.....
YUM!
i think the moment at 0:47 when the additional instrumentation come into play, the nostalgic feeling you described really comes through. i think it has to do with the tonal content and the choice of synthwave for sure. nicely done! :~)
i could definitely see this track playing in a lategame section of said walking sim/puzzle game; very uplifting vibes all around!
A bit of a "less is more" feeling for this, I think. Doesn't need to have too many layers in order to achieve what it sets out to do. I really like the choice of the saw lead here, gradually opening up and being just thicker than usual. It reminds me of a modern version of some of the saw and brass patches you'd hear back on the SNES and Genesis/Megadrive in particular, which feeds into some delicious 16-bit goodness. I like the modulation on the filter cut-off and decay to keep the sound fresh.
All in all, good work. It is a very solid foundation for a track and works well as it is. Enjoyed listening to it, and I could see it fitting into a couple of different games, perhaps as a pre-credits sequence.
as others have said, good use some more to it. something like purposefully ruining expectations, like you play that melody like 3 times and then the 4 time that same melody line is now syncopated. this could create a lot more interest even with the smallest changes, experiment and try to find the different things you could do with a melody to defy expectations. Otherwise Awesome work :)
The ambient feels were good here,
could use a tad bit more, just more sounds, variation if you get me
that synth-wave retro vibe was real cool!
This feels like a cool start, I like the overall vibe and can definitely feel that nostalgic vibe you're going for but it could definitely use some more movement in the melody. It's great that you're repeating that motif in the first 3 notes throughout the song, "repetition legitimizes," as they say, but you have to be careful about using it too much especially in a slower song otherwise the melody will feel flat. For example, instead of keeping it at the high>middle>low twice in a row, the second time you could go high>higher>low, or middle>high>high>low. Again, do very much like the overall vibe and think you definitely succeeded in what you were going for so good work! :)
the song is REALLY quiet I barely even noticed it had started!
I think you've got a nice melody and structure here but it feels like it could use more y'know?
Like it feels like it is lending itself to more complexity with more instruments and percussion.
Some really great vibes! Love how the textures really thin out at the end to bring the thing to a close!
Cool idea! i really like the synths, good work :)
Love the 80's vibe, I wish you had time for mixing because the song is super low, but good job nonetheless!
