Great game ! This visuals looks pretty polished and there's even a full menu and an opening cutscene :o

Only flaw is that it gets a bit repetitive after a while

Yeah, I really liked that! Simple evasion, but the ever growing number of frogs threaten your safety over and over. Everything works here, like a well oiled machine.

Great job!

You nailed the theme and limitation! Reminded me of a childhood camping trip where we were overcome by canetoads in the night hahaha. Gameplay concept was very sound and it felt good to play. The lightning effects revealing the play area from time to time was really spooky but mechanically helpful, i liked it. After a bunch of tries I couldn't make it to the end though, the lightning kept blasting me with 30 seconds left haha... and they say it doesn't strike the same place twice!

Played well, lightning effects were cool, spritework nice, only suggestion i'd make is to give an highscore screen, to know how many frogs we got. Pretty good!

Pretty interesting concept. Atmosphere and sounds were good, very spooky and crunchy lol.  I did experience the input bug like others stated. The manual flashlight charging did feel a little strange and didn't really fit the flow, but the lightning for charging mechanic is definitely an idea worth leaning into a bit more. With a bit of a story and some additional mechanics it can be a solid game. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback! Argh, I thought I had fixed that bug with yesterday’s hotfix… ^^ Guess I’ll have to take another look.

Yeah, the battery recharge system isn’t ideal — it needs to be reworked, or maybe even replaced.

Strange, yeah during one of the games after I respawned I wasn't able to move right anymore

This has a solid style with some fine flow at times; I like the lighting a lot!

The only nitpick that I could offer is an odd bug in which the S and A keys combined in function. I could not go down or left, but could go down-left when pressing only the A key; yet, the S key would do nothing.

Refreshing the game page fixed this in a jiffy; however, I could not recreate the bug. Just some (hopefully) useful info for future reference! Great work nonetheless.

Thanks for the feedback! :) It was my first time experimenting with lighting, so your comment really means a lot ^^

As for the bug, I think I found the cause… I bet you opened the options menu before playing the first time, but didn’t open it during your second run. :D Basically, I think the keybinding buttons stay active even when the menu is hidden, so when you played, you might’ve accidentally changed the controls without realizing it. At least, that’s the lead I’m following.

Cool in theory, but sadly suffers from a small amount of issues that made it less fun than I would have liked.

I don’t have a mouse to play the game with, and you need one in order for the game to work properly. I completely understand why full keyboard support wasn’t added, but it sadly makes it pretty annoying (I was able to play it using a touchscreen, but it really makes the controls hard to use, I don’t have 3 hands sadly).

Good ideas, just not perfect execution-wise. Definitely could use some polish, and maybe full keyboard support someday.

Thanks for the feedback! You’re right, there’s a lot that needs improvement. I thought I’d run out of time for the JAM, so I rushed a bit — the game clearly lacks polish. But I do plan to fix the things that aren’t working. As for keyboard support instead of using the mouse, I’ll have to look into how I can implement that — I’ve never worked on that kind of thing before ^^

Hi Nice game. Soemthing that i noticed:
1) You can't move down and when you want to move left, you actually move down and left.
2) Actually i don't understand why some frogs die from light and some from purple light.
3) Different pixelization makes me feel that game is using assets it's a little bit awkard
4) The mechanic of standing and charging your flashlight is useless because you don't have time to stay

However nice job!

Thanks for the feedback! :)

For the controls, maybe you have two keys bound at the same time? But it’s also possible there’s a bug in the input setup — I think I noticed something similar.

Frogs aren’t affected by the white light, but if lightning strikes them, it kills them.

Yes, all the images come from the same asset pack, except for the player and the flashlight — I made those myself (yeah, it shows :D). I might have messed up when resizing the images. ^^

And yeah, the recharge mechanic definitely needs reworking. I’ll try to find a way to make it more interesting.

Thanks again!
