And so... We meet again, my friend.
Let's face it, you've been here a long time. No friends, no food, no fresh air, no freedom. What's left for you? Sing? Listen to tunes behind concrete walls and all-metal bars?
Admit it: you're dead. And if you're not dead yet, be prepared to lead yourself to your own doom.
Good luck, suicide bomber.

***

What's the point of this game? Well, you're a teenager trapped inside a creepy prison. You need to get out of this creepy place, while trying not to die because of the shadow monsters, and also you need to keep your sanity on the pieces of “light”, so that you do not open your veins....

***

Voise - Intro. You can hear the singing of your hero, who doesn't know what to do - sing, pray, cry or kill himself.

Glass Lake - The first location. The most calm, but also quite cruel. There are small shards of glass scattered all over the lake shore, which you pierce your feet on, you - bleed. That's just the beginning.

Bonus Leves Theme - Bonus Level Theme. Throughout the game we encounter “crows” that we can inhabit and complete a “bonus task” in the territories of miniature factories, which you can only enter by being a crow. At the end of each level, your crow is destroyed by circular saws and some of the crow meat goes to you. Enjoy!

Falling Forest - A location where you are almost at the exit... In front of you is a magical forest that is constantly trying to fall into the abyss. You jump on platforms, on branches, on trees... Just try not to fall into the abyss, okay? Because you'll be dismembered into little pieces.

Prison Home - The last step is to go through the prison, where there are people like you... I think you will understand how the game ends. So just enjoy the last few minutes of your life. I hope you had a terrible one.

What about the soundtrack in general? I focused on creating a soundtrack that sounds repetitive, repetitive, has a little Lo-fi element in its structure, but as loud, violent and unpleasant as possible... I also chose an industrial sound (because I love this genre, heh), so you can hear a lot of different synthesizers, distorted instruments, etc. What kind of sound did I want to achieve? The answer is anyone!

***

What about the technical part? Well, I'll be honest - this whole soundtrack exists solely because I was just experimenting with percussion, drums and their processing (no kidding - all the drum parts here are distorted with modular synthesizers).
I apologize very much for the bad mix... the reason - I was really sick while I was working on this jam... VERY sick. I could barely sit at my computer, heh))

***

What can I say in the end? I'm kinda happy with this post, kinda not... Either way - listen up!

Theme

Freedom
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Everything that happens during this soundtrack is a wander through the strange sections of a certain “prison” from which our heroine wants to escape...
But she can't.

The overall mood of the cover led me to the idea of a mixture of industrial, a little orchestration, a bit of a happy-sad sound and some semblance of “aggressive-undustrial Lo-fi”

Great work, especially the sound design. I don't have a lot of feedback, I just love it.

We meet again, my friend

I love your style. Your musical composition style is so unique and one-of-a-kind. I really admire and respect your work!

Developer

Hi!

Thank you :>

The vibes vibe. The mix of ambient, special effects, and instrument choices made it feel like I was in a 2d pixel horror game, and I absolutely loved it! Super immersive, and I can't believe you got 5 out too! Out of them, I'd have to say falling forest is my favorite. If it started playing when I opened the game, I'd probably have to turn on the lights, haha. Amazing job :)

uh... you good, my dude?

jk, I love the slightly manic, self. deprecating(I guess?) narrative, it's got a ton of style and creativity.

Thick atmosphere on all of these tracks, very unique and surreal sound as a whole. That instrument near the beginning of "Falling Forest" sounds like it's the forest yelling at me at a very low bitrate; would have loved to have that specific instrument brought back near the end of the song.  Really interesting contrast between the fantasy forest-esque harp and whatever the fuck else is going on. Did you really have to put crow sounds in this track right after the player was (presumably) forced to eat crow meat?

"Prison Home" sounds like a prisoner is spitting on the player at the end of every bar. Halfway through the song, they start yelling at each other while one of them hooks up a guitar amp to the harp from the previous track. This plays really well with the sound of crows screaming in agony in the background. Probably a great time for the prisoners, who (presumably) are all addicted to crow meat by now. The sound of incoherent singing, crows being butchered and actual suicide round things and bring things to a nice conclusion. Really makes "Voice" sound quite a bit less creepy, and on a second listen, much more cognizant to the various crow sounds.

Side note: Why do you hate crows so much??? Crow meat? Come on man

12/10 submission. Great work, I hate it

I actually kinda get Oddworld vibes from this, especially the first track. Neat textures!

Very distinctive and cool stuff as always, what more can i say?

The mangled/bitcrushed voice stuff was great, added a lot to the vibe.

"you're a teenager trapped inside a creepy prison", where "you need to keep your sanity"... sounds like my high school experience..

I love your stuff, it's always so interesting to listen to :D

Bonus Level slaps hard, but the Falling Forest is my fav. It's quite upbeat at it's core but still sounds incredibly ominous, like a Disney movie that started breaking down and rotting...

Overall, really cool set!

This whole album is incredibly cool. You work with the experimental and dissonant motif's without crossing a line, and do it very well. My favorite track would probably have to be "Bonus Level Theme". Keep it up, I would love to hear more.

In terms of sound design, this submission is my favorite so far. Each track has an evolution of different instruments that is interesting to listen to--I think one thing you could look into more is evolving some of the sounds themselves more, especially the more drone-like ones that sustain for a while. I would definitely play a game with a soundtrack like this one.

Great job on this one (hope you're feeling a little better now)!

Wow i love how experimental and creepy it is! My favorite one was Bonus Level Theme, the drums and bass and that went craaazy! I can totally see how all of these fit the story you described, all of these definitely give this unsettling feeling and can hear the desperation to escape in the music. fantastic job, this is one of the most unique ones ive heard in this jam!

woah... the experimental nature of this is CRAZY... i love how it works so well in tandem with the concept you visualized for your videogame. i'm usually used to somber, frail, and minimal tracks with skeletal instrumentation for games of a similar caliber; so i really like the busy industrial choice you took, as i can imagine the fracturing sanity of the main character as the game progresses... i particularly like the industrial atmosphere of "Bonus Level Theme" — factory themes can slap sooo hard. :~)

you did well despite being extremely sick during the jam!! hope you're feeling even a bit better now. if you continue developing these further, i think it'd help to adjust the percussion volume in "Glass Lake" and "Prison Home". i also wonder about having an even more experimental track that forgoes the ever-faithful 4/4 rhythm... sounds like a potential for a good time!

Yep. I am not even going to write about THIS in detail, that is how good it is.

Noticing a distinct lack of Heh..... in the comments.

Voice - I like how the voice sounds a lot. very crunchy and almost legible while still being gibberish. The noises at the end are a nice touch.

Glass Lake - The harsh white noise gives the feeling of pain great! Walking on broken glass and losing the feeling in your feet. The clean piano is also great as a representation of a clear lake distorted by the lead over top of it. I think some extra syncopation in the piano a little earlier could help with the flow of the track. The drums coming in were nice though they felt a lot cheaper compared to the rest of the track. I don't really know what the white noise at the end was supposed to be though.

Bonus Level Theme - The percussion feels a lot better on this one already! The 3 synth hits at the end of some measures were really nice flavor. As a whole, this one has some great use of dissonance to make it chaotic while still enjoyable.

Falling Forest - I liked the string that was in this track to make it feel more like a forest while maintaining your industrial style. Halfway through when the drums quickened was a nice change to reduce monotony. And of course I love xylophone in anything!

Prison Home - This was weakest track to me. It wasn't as unique as the others and felt too safe comparatively. The glockenspiel was nice when it started deviating from the melody for some dissonance. The shaker also felt a little too loud it was a tad distracting.

But, that's just my opinion. Heh....

I really like what you've done here, I think there is a really outstanding conveyance of tone and meaning in your tracks, the significance pleases me! Your approach and concept this time reminded me a bit on how industrial is achieved in "OFF's" soundtrack (Which is pretty cool, I am unsure if you've listened to it but I think you'd like it if you haven't)!

Nicely put together soundtrack and great job getting so many tracks in such a short amount of time, even while sick! Are you feeling better now?

Great work! Enjoyed the vibes!

I love how aggressively violent everything is in this, to the point where Glass Lake, the first location is still relatively hostile with its presentations. The aggressive synths in Bonus Level Theme and the start of Falling Forest also lend so much to the world I think, cause for as sweet as the melody is underneath, the synths really hammer home that this is a violent world. Prison Home is really the whole crescendo to this, with the distorted voicing and constant aggressive scraping as well as the gunshots ringing out slowly killing the instrumentals. Really well done especially when you're sick!

Submitted

you're always doing some very uniquely dark ambient/industrial sounding stuff with your submissions.  this in particular really reminds me of a rotting prison cell, so you definitely did your job as far as building a world goes.

I love how violently dark the game idea is and how perfectly the OST matches those themes

the bonus crow level theme has that terraria like mushroom forest vibe to it its lovley

GOD dAMn the length on these tracks is impressive for crunchtime!
And omg, I freaking LOVE this premise, it's so decayingly morbid (in a cool way :0)
Although I do have one minor nitpick, I feel like almost all of the tracks represent the locations more than what's going through the mind of the MC, Voice does a good job of this, but I would've liked to see more of it.
I really dig how experimental this all is though!

Submitted

Very interesting textures throughout here! I dig the heavy processing present throughout - sometimes you just need to really experiment with different chains to see what sticks and what doesn't.

Noticing an almost motif with the use of the crow/raven cries throughout, which is cool. There is a lot of interesting motion occurring in each track, playing specifically off of the sound design textures and some of the choice of percussion voicing. I feel like I could end up listening to several of these tracks over and over and still come away having heard something new each time around.

I think my favorite of the bunch is the Bonus Level Theme - it has some oldschool 32bit vibes rooting it down. I like how haphazard some of the washy noise sounds are alongside the use of stuttered notes and percussive elements. The bass does a great job of providing a pulse to follow the track along with. It gives me some kind of factory-level vibe, almost like the Cortex Labs in the early Crash Bandicoot games.

Solid work all around! I hope you're feeling better - kudos for getting anything at all out there while being sick. Best of luck!
