I have no choice but to love all the MGS nods and references. The sound design is goofy and very nice, and the "underwhelming" ending sequence cracked me up, it really put things into literal perspective!

Gameplaywise, I got spotted a lot and often ran headfirst into more enemies, mostly because enemies seem to have an "infinite" line of sight (when unobstructed), so they can spot you from far outside the minimap. Reducing the range of their line of sight and/or making it apparent on the minimap (like in MGS) would make stealth a more viable strategy. Also, being able to close the doors could have helped to hide after being seen. That being said, I had a lot of fun and managed to escape after being turned into diner a few times.

Great work!

The dogs are hard to beat! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the Dungeon Crawler Jam.

Like others have said I think the music was fun and wacky!
Web build would have been nice! (not just you but there are a few that do not work in the web or in the itch app)

I think this game managed to capture the silliness of being spotted and chased in stealth games in a way I don't often see jam games do. Especially not dungeon crawler stealth games!

This was fun, it has a good dark sense of humour (I especially love the death screen) and parodying some of the MGS staples like the cardboard box, and it manages to introduce a number of mechanics. I also thought the attempts to capture the PS1 look were good, and I love the title card lol.

I wish I was able to hold down the movement keys though, and I wish turning was a bit faster. It wasn't excruciating though, and I managed to escape.

I think there should've been a "suspicious" stage of awareness to enemies though. Like a little "arooo?" sound effect with a question mark over the head. Just to make the stealth a little bit more forgiving.

And I agree with commetns saying feedback on the combat could be better. Though frankly so could the combat in my entry lol.

Good work!

Really fun music, well put together assets and a really fun interpretation of Metal Gear Solid (even though I never played any of them).

The first two levels were kind of easy, the third one though, that was a challenge. At least for me. I very much enjoyed playing it.

I got the bugged out of bounds box on the third level, and I feel like I could hide when I shouldn’t be allowed (but I liked it). And since the dogs did see me quite far away and at least at one time with a 90 degree angle and further than the minimap, it felt quite like it balanced itself out.

There could have been some more feedback while hitting the dogs to clarify that it was a hit and not a miss. The movement, I would have loved to be able to hold forward down. But the maps were quite compact so it didn’t matter too much.

It’s a very solid game. Just perfect length for its content.

Music, sounds and overall polished feeling. Great entry. I broke the game couple of time hiding under the box in an inproper time but I manage to end game)

Great atmosphere! Music, sound effects and death screen make for a wacky but coherent whole.

It's also nice to restart only the current level and not the whole game when you lose.

Mostly bug free, apart from a small bug on the third level, when you hide in a box you go through a wall.

Special mention for the dynamic minimap, simple and functional implementation. It reinforces the “tactical” aspect of the game, and limits random deaths at every turning of a corridor.

This was more fun than I thought it would be. It was a cute, funny game and it was good sneaking around, also not too hard it felt fair and fun to play. Minor bug was I could travel through the dogs if I landed  on the same tile as them at the same time. Combat could have little more to it but i understand that not the main point so it fine.

Overall quite a good game that was fun to play and just funny to see.

A cute entry! I really enjoyed being a sneaky chicken, haha.

Great work with this one. If you would like to watch my playthrough, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/BlV07b-iCXY

Thanks! There wasn't enough time to iron out all of the bugs, and it should probably be spelled out more clearly that you can't hide in a box when enemies can see you.

Fun little entry with some intense moments when you get caught trying to be sneaky. I was pretty terrible at the sneaking part so I mostly just had to yolo my way through it, but it still ended up being a lot of fun for me after many deaths!

The movement itself could benefit from being a little snappier, although that might make the actual game too easy and some progression or some abilities (like a decoy or something) might make it feel like a more complete experience.

Fun times and you can see my recording here

Thanks! There was a distraction mechanic designed, but there wasn't enough time to design levels around it's use.

Cool game! Running away from enemies was pretty intense, and I liked the layouts of the level. Nice use of sound design too. I wasn't a big fan of slow movement, but I can understand why you made it that way because the enemies moved in real time. The minimap was very helpful, but possibly too helpful. When running I found myself purely looking at the minimap so that I could keep track of the enemy location.

Nice work!

Thanks! I was aware that including the minimap meant that players might use it instead of the viewscreen for movement. But it seemed a necessary way to clearly show what direction enemies were facing.

Music is really funny and so is the game in general. I lol'd more than a few times.

Thanks! The game actually started more horror themed, but early on we realized the gameplay fit more of a comedic tone.

MISSION COMPLETE

Overall the game is very fun with the right difficulty. Best plot too, love want to escape chickens.

Like others said the only caveat is that pressing the buttons is quite rigid to the point it feels unresponsive as you need to time your actions precisely if you want it to feel smooth without simply mashing the buttons, which you will do instead.

Cool one.

Developer

Thanks! We debated on whether adding the player movement delay was a good idea, but since the enemies all move in real-time with short delays it would have made it very difficult for them to realistically ever catch the player in a chase.

Opening the doors felt a little unresponsive.  And I janked my way through the final room quite a bit.  I guess if it worked its fine.  Took me a while to realize the double doors was the exit.  But all in all, fun stealth game.  Seems we both took a bit of inspiration from Metal Gear! 😉
The country victory sting was a nice touch.

Thanks! There was a bug with the doors that we couldn't quite fix before submission. Glad to hear you were still able to complete the game regardless.

I finally completed the game.

The inputs and movement feels a bit wonky. And It feels a bit unresponsive. Kinda felt like you had to spam direction buttons but it still wasn't consistent which makes it hard to traverse the levels and enemies.

Movement does not always seems to follow the grid. Enemies sometimes do diagonal movements. Nice feature with the minimap but the arrow does not align exactly on center on the squares.

Interesting and nice feature to be able to hide.  I liked that!

Had no trouble running the game, using avast. No warnings.

Nice entry!

Developer

Thanks! Since the enemies move in real-time it was necessary to introduce a delay between player actions so that the player couldn't zoom around with the enemies never catching up. There were a few bugs with enemy movement we weren't able to fix before submission, but I'm glad to hear you completed the game anyway.

I dunno if anyone else is having this problem, but the download keeps getting negated from detecting a virus.

Developer

I've seen this happen with some downloadable games. Windows has a tendency to be overzealous when detecting a download from an "unknown" source.
