Description
This submission was met with some hurdles, like my midi-controller dying. So this is what I was able to do in a few days.
The picture used for the submission was taken by Gabriel Alenius. The other pictures are just goodies and have been taken by me.
It got somehow very melancholic but very fitting for something Scandy/Icelandic. Imagin an old man near his last days, taking maybe his last trek in the snowy fields, reminiscing on his life.

Loved this one, really getting images of snow in a way only a couple have captured. Really controlled build up in that it didn't overstay it's buildup but took its time in a way I wish I was better at.
Wasn't sure on the lead patch when it first came in, but about 15 seconds later you'd convinced me.
Oooh, definitely getting a strong sense of nostalgia/reminiscence - maybe regrets? This feels like it could be leading into a flashback for some sort of defining event in a person's life, brought on by a similar snowy walk. It suggests a much larger story for sure, and leaves you wanting to turn the page on it somehow! There are these haunting little moments in it that remind me of the soundtrack of Dark. Very cool!
This style of music always makes me feel like I'm watching a crime or drama show since it's so heavily used in those for emotional moments (end of episode fade to black/credits) 😂.
That said, its just a Pavlovian response for me, nothing wrong with the music itself (which is great btw😉).
Good work!
Man I really love how this track is calming, yet kinda sad at the same time, great submission!
Your description fits perfectly: this felt so sweet, and yet somehow bitter at the same time. I was really entranced during my listen. Really awesome!
Yeah, I get that tranquil reminiscing...
This is the sound of acceptance of inevitability. Very moving!
Those twinkling synths work so well as scenic snowflakes drifting in and out of view.
This got me in the feels... A true auditory painting!
Sorry to hear about the controller breaking, that would be super annoying! But you've still managed to get out a fantastic submission, it feels so evocative in its melancholy and somehow has both movement and stagnance at the same time with the bouncier elements meeting those drawn out strings. Love the piece!
I love how this could sound longing with no context on why it was made, but in context it conveys a sort of silent but restless desperation (especially underlined by the strings heard in the second part) and a feeling of being lost in the nowhere, frozen and remote, with no escape route.
It takes its time to envelope you in and the results are marvellous. Top work, one of the best!
That describes it better than I ever could :o. Thanks, man, for those kind words.
Beautiful work, I like the harmonic progression. Filled with emotions, made me re listen 2-3 times to be sure of the feelings it gives. Proof that it does not need to be complicated to do something amazing. Great job.
This kicks ass.
I love the glassiness of it. It has a pretty strong pathos. It's really cool.
I remember you going through the challenge of your midi controller dying; I feel like these little obstacles make the final result more meaningful, the suffering and the story put into the creation. It adds to the beauty of it.
I really liked this one.
Expertly crafted , delicate, and emotional composition. Combining light mystical overtone with the heavy emotion of the violin was a very engaging contrast. Overall, the track was an immersive and emotional journey that was a joy to listen to.
I'm not sure how to enable bird and building mode in Cubase, but if you could drop the keybind you used for fluffy dog mode I'd appreciate it!
I love this. It is so rich, even with the hurdles you had to overcome to get it to this point. Good job! (You did way better than I would have if I had those issues!) Love the violin coming in. Defiantly feels like Iceland just like you said. You really got the ambient feel right. Great work!
Only now realizing that you've said, that you're currently not having much time :o. I'm really humbled you still took the time to give it a listen. So thank you very much for your kind words. :)
A great title for such a track! I can feel that sense of wandering between the trees. It turned out so gentle, as if you could melt into the music. I love the harmonic intertwining that leads the listeners to this state. Pure beaty!
There's a quiet, searching, contemplative vibe here that I think really gets the vibe of the painting perfectly. It's cold and lonely, but those soft piano arpeggios make it feel familiar in a way? It's incredibly emotionally descriptive which I absolutely love, great work!
Also, I feel I should mention that those are some banger bird photos :)
