There's a lot of things to like about this! Being one smaller part of a much larger battle is a really neat experience I haven't seen in that many games.
The base level handling should probably be a bit better though.

Thanks for playing LowQualityRobin !
Glad you’ve enjoyed the large battles, i wanted to have something somewhat inspired by missions where you have big fleet battles like in some older spacesim games, and it was a gamble cause i’m still not all that great at making enemy ai more complex than just “seek and destroy, bump every wall etc…” but i tried some stuff and was surprised with the results (despite some obvious remaining jank) So it makes me really happy that people liked that aspect ^^
Can’t argue though the controls do need some work :( Don’t know if i’ll have much time post jam to work on this, but i’ll try a few fixes if i can.
Really impressed with the variety and scale of the battles. Loved the custom ship colors and overall polish. Great work!
Absolutely gorgeous looking game! Handling the ship is very hard. Nice!
Love this game's presentation! The ships were pretty hard to control lol but I had fun
This is a cool game! The physics was quite interesting. I will say that movement controls were quite difficult, but that might just be me having a skill issue LOL. Good work :D
Thanks for giving my entry a shot DoubleSystemGames and i’m glad you found it cool ^^
Yeah i wanted to have floaty space physics but they ended up a bit heavier than i intended so i should have spent more time testing and adjusting things, so probably more of design issues on my part than skill issues with players if you ask me :p
Ok so I played the Dumptruck, and I though. oh my god, I can't move. so I played Vega afterwards and realised the error of my ways. very fun game. I'd've liked to be able to dodge bullets a little more than what I could but a very good game you put together and wow, the viuals are awsome!
Thanks MonkeyGabage !
Yeah the dumptruck lives up to it’s nickname that’s for sure :p (though the physics ending up a bit heavier than i intended certainly didn’t help either)
The Vega is more like a Tie Fighter from star wars by comparaison although if you find a powerup you do have the added bonus of having shields XD
Yeah definitively have to adjust the physics a bit to improve player control if i get some time post jam.
Glad you seem to like the game despite some of its issues though and it makes me really happy that you found the visuals awesome :D
Cool game!
Perhaps the physics could be tuned a bit, it feels like it’s super hard to accelerate / decelerate the ship. The turning speed is also quite slow. It also confuses me a lot that the movement directions depend on the ship orientation rather than being always the same, but perhaps that’s just skill issue on my part, hahah!
In any case, good job :)!
Thnaks for giving my game a go !
Yeah the physics definitively neded more finetuning cause they ended up way more heavy compared to what i wanted initially. In hindsight i see a few people had a hard time with the ship relative direction movement so this might have not been the best design choice i’ll admit ^^’
Great artwork and ship design!
I like the controls (largely) and the concept, but felt - even with the "fast" ships - a bit like I was chasing my tail, but maybe that's a skill issue on my part!
I really enjoyed this experience and massive kudos for making such a complete game in the jam!
Thanks a lot !
Happy that you liked all the ship designs ^^
Like i said the physics ended up a bit more heavier than i intended so that’s probably you felt that way about the controls even with the faster ships.
I always try to make the most complete game possible, and now that i have a bit more jams on my belt i think i can manage to do a little bit more every time, though this being a space setting with no actual levels to build with tiles and all certainly helped a great deal in having some time to make more XD
Thanks for givin my game a try and playing it all the way !
Glad you liked the art and music as well :D
Yeah the ships don’t really have pathfinding here so some of the larger ones tended to get stuck too often on asteroids in the levels that had some, so i kept them a somewhat small hitbox, one of the issue is that they sometimes feel unclear because for some reason the impact effect doesn’t always render on top as it should, so i’ll have to look into what went wrong here.
The purple mark is a Nav beacon that always indicate the center of the level to help with orientation.
Funnily enough i’ve had a friend who had the same issue at times when he playtested the game, and my guess is that because both allies and enemies pick random targets at the start of the level, sometimes the rng makes them all chose the same target, and when its the final boss ship, even though he has a ton of hp he’s such a large target that all the allie cap ships can end up killing it before the player even manages to get to it. Plus the enemies unlike the player don’t have any i-frames so they can take damage quite quickly.
wOW the art looks really really cool and clean. It feels very polished, and the soundtrack is nice :) Definitely an interesting concept for a bullethell game :)
The way the game plays somewhat reminds me of early PC games like Elite. I could imagine this taking on a somewhat relaxed pace, while still having some intense, large-scale spaceship duels going on.
The graphics are definitely on-point; if I’m not mistaken, they seem to take on a similar style and technique that NebulasRay does. I am curious, were these pre-rendered from 3D models to sprites, much like how some arcade games back then got those kinds of graphics, or were they done by hand?
Yeah that was pretty much the intent behind the game, making a sort of mix between a retro shmup and a PC space sim (even if i went more towards the arcade side of the spectrum cause it felt like it would be more fun) to capture the feel of some of the missions in these games where you had quite sizable fleet battles XD
Glad you liked the graphics ^^
They are a bit of a mixed technique : they come from a 3D base where i modelled a bunch of parts in blender and rendered at a tiny resolution, then i reworked them in gimp by hand to make the final ships and get the look i wanted, plus the paintjobs when a ship needed faction variants. I only have 4 ships i then made in full 3D for the cover art.
So indeed in a way it’s done in a similar way as the old arcade titles that had fairly detailed and smoothly animated sprites.
Hopefully this gave you a bit of insight on how i made it, thanks for giving my game a go, and your interest :)
I love gravity games, and this is very impressive as a package <3
Very cool. A lot of customisation and polish for a game jam game. Movement felt a bit sluggish on the ships I tried but maybe I just got the sluggish end of the spectrum. Thoroughly enjoyable overall.
Thanks !
Glad you found the game was polished and that you liked the customization option ^^
the tankier ships are supposed to feel a bit more heavy to handle to balance their high armor, but not as quite as much. Physics ended up a bit more heavy than i intended, the best i could do was the damper system to help “brake” the ships when drifting too much.
Superb soundtrack, cool art direction and very interesting take on the genre.
I was having a bit of issue with how the movement worked, but it took a bit to get used to.
This game has a lot of polish and I can see a lot of effort put into it.
This is awesome :)
Thanks a lot MagnaRemora :D
Glad you liked the art direction, and the music track cause i wasn’t all too sure about it and only had time to make this one (plus i was afraid the repetition of only having this one would annoy people a lot :p)
Agreed that the physics are a bit of the weak point of the game, i didn’t think they would end up as heavy as they are, even after some tweaking :(
I always try to put as much polish as i can in my games, to hopefully give the most cohesive experience as possible ^^
Super polished and really fun to play! Missions are tough, but interesting and the visuals are amazing, great space fantasy and story line as well :)
Thanks for giving my entry a try ^^
Glad you liked the missions, i couldn’t playtest them all that much so they might be a bit unbalanced but its cool that you found them interesting.
Also happy that you liked the “storyline” for what little there is, i kinda tried to flesh out things a bit more this time around XD
Had fun but even nearing the end I was still struggling with the local wasd controls, great work!
The visuals is outstanding!!! Love the gameplay. My only issues is, the control of the ships that feel like "i can't handle this thing". But overall is a nice experience!
Thanks for giving my entry a go !
Glad you liked the visuals :D
Yeah gameplay wise the physics turned out a bit more heavy than i intended, the only somewhat solution i found to this was by implementing the “brakes” with the spacebar key which hopefully help gain a bit of control over the floatiness when you start drifting too far ^^’
The ships all look incredible! The A.I for the ships felt really dynamic as well. Ship customization was a nice touch but I found the ships didn't feel to different to control from one another. Overall really well done, the assets alone deserve 2 giant thumbs up
Thanks for playing.
Really glad you liked the ship designs, had a lot of fun in Blender x Gimp making these, so it’s a nice reward to see people seem to have fun playing them :D
Yeah the floaty physics ended up a bit too heavy and this kinda had the ships feel similar despite them having different stats (not just the ones displayed in the select menu) one thing that would have set them a bit more appart would have been more variety in the loadout but i didn’t make enough different weapons in time.
