Took me way too long to realise I can go faster by gliding 😔 but afterwards it made it a lot easier to play. The graphics are very cute, and the game concept is pretty unique!

Edit: Forgot to mention, the timer would also disappear after a couple of seconds, which made it hard to tell how much time I had left. (I could somewhat read it from the remaining visible half)

Developer

The timer thing seems to be due to some monitor screens, on mine I can still see it, so I'm not sure how to fix it.

Also yeah the gliding thing was a problem hence why I edited the game to put the awake text under everything so people could see the glide control, but it seems its still hard to realise.

Thanks for playing!

The flying and gliding mechanics were really cool (and I am reminded at how bad I am at games like these...). It's simple enough to learn and I can see a lot of potential for turning this into platformers or puzzle games! Something I would have liked is for the timer to always be visible so I can keep track of it.

Developer

The timer is supposed to be visible, its just broken on some monitors I think, because its visible on my one.

Thanks for playing!

Got my friend to playtest and pinpoint more accurate stuff (shes also a game dev so it helps) and nerfed the game a bit.

No difficulty choices but further feedback would be great!

Nice game, it was fun! My only nitpick is that the obstacles blend into the background, but considering that they all look the same, it's not a serious disadvantage. Good work!

Developer

Fair, it is hard to tell whether something will kill you or not, but since there aren't many objects in the first place, it doesn't affect gameplay too much.

Thanks for playing!

Very well presented game! I enjoyed the flying once I got the hang of it. Great job!

I thought flying was super satisfying, something about the feather particles, sound, and momentum/weight, really enjoyed it!

Creative and fun!  Great use of the limitation! Controls took me a bit to get used to but once I did the bird was very fun to control.   I gave up on level 3 but i really liked this one a lot!  Very challenging -nice work!

Thank you and thanks for playing! I've had a lot saying how hard the game is, but I'm too used to making them like this lol. I'll probably add variable difficulty in my next games.

It's very challenging for sure! I had fun playing it~

Feel like a reinterpretation of Blappy bird. The controls are smooth, the time it's a little too short, you can't commit any mistake and need to fly in the most efficent way, that is neither good or bad it's depants of what the player want but the start its a little frustating.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

It's not that accurate, you just need to glide in open space to go faster. For some reason a lot of people didn't realise that and struggled with the first level a lot, so I hope that can help you get past the start.

Thanks for playing!

Music and art is great! Honestly, the flying movement system feels both REALLY tight and fun, I dig it. I’m not much of a platformer fella, so I struggled a lot (have died to those first two trunks a bajillion times, errghhhh)

Edit: Unfortunately, I can’t get past the second level with the bugs though…I wonder if hitting things could be a temporary stun or time penalty instead of an instant reset? I’m probably just bad LOL

Developer

Wow, that really sounds like a struggle, I know my game was hard, but I haven't seen anyone struggle on it as much as you said you have.

Maybe I could add modes for time penalty, that could be interesting, but otherwise I don't think I could just change the purpose of the obstacles like that.

Regardless, thanks for playing!

Submitted

Honestly, it’s probably just a skill issue - I usually play games like rpgs that don’t require precise movement! So unless other people say they struggle with it, I’d not worry about my opinion haha

Great game! <3

The art style and audio you went with was excellent! It took me a minute to realize that I needed to use the glide mechanic in the first round as the timing was always so close for me just by using the normal jump and move mechanic—it could be a skill issue, but I'd be curious if there was any way to make it more obvious on first play. I'd also be curious to see how your game would play if the collisions were a little more forgiving. I definitely found myself smacking into tree branches more than I'd have hoped. However, the  different level objectives and the progression through them was super fun. All around a great experience through to the end. Thanks for making and sharing your game!

Developer

Since the glide mechanic is explicitly stated before you wake the bird up I didn't feel the need to go into more depth for that, and yeah I could make the collisions more forgiving, thats a fair insight.

Thanks for playing!

Really fun game! I love the simple art style it adds to the charm, and the controls are also easy to intuit. One note would be to make the text explaining the objective at night to be in white, because that was a little hard to read. But other than that great job!

Developer

Oh yeah that criticism makes sense, I'll go change that now.

Thanks for playing!

An original take on making a Flappy Bird-style game.

Good job! 😊

Developer

Thanks, I didn't really intend for it to be like flappy bird but I see your point now lol.

Thanks for playing!
