Really nice twist on the Asteroids gameplay! The visuals of the game are pretty solid too.

The only thing that I'm not so sure about is how the story was integrated in to the gameplay. There's nothing wrong with the story itself, and it actually adds a lot of context, which it great, but the setup made it seem like there was a specific end which never arrived. It started to feel like I was doing something wrong or the progression was broken. If you're planning on expanding on this, then it's a really good foundation that could easily be built on from this point, but otherwise it would make sense to make sure it's clear there's no specific end goal.

Yeah ran out of steam. I had three more bosses planned to wrap things up and for the story mode to be it’s own seperate mode from the arcade version.

Cool entry, I liked the bit of story you included, it gives the game some personality!

Incredibly charming little game, I could almost play this one for hours. This really does nail the feel of an arcade experience but I think the big issue is just that it stops escalating a little too quickly. After a point I had thousands of score and it felt like the balls weren't getting any faster or increasing in intensity enough, and I also felt frustrated by my low movement speed (but not in a way that made it harder for me to dodge lol). For some reason my brain kept thinking of Nokia Snake and how you're forced to always be moving in that game, maybe something like that here in exchange for faster movement and a bigger escalation would be crazy. Also, I kept accidentally skipping the story cuz' the "continue" button was the same as shoot and there was no cooldown so I'd just blaze through the text the moment it suddenly appeared lol. Fun game!

I did 624 points not using the items then only 68 points using those, go figure.

The game looks, sounds and feels very good, good job, I certainly don't miss the inertia from Asteroids. The difficulty was perfect for me too.

Fun!

I like the circles colliding and splitting up

Awesome asteroids style game !

I really like the oldschool aesthetic with the terminal style commands in the intro, really authentic to the style of pre - OS computers.

Gameplay wise i really like the powerup storage system, i’ll admit i didn’t quite understand it worked that way at first but once i got it it’s really cool to be able to use shields or the spreadshot when you need it instead of having it active as soon as you pick it up.

I’ve seen a few “boss” enemies appear but i’m not sure if the game is an endless loop or not so i stopped when i saw “Alpha” a second time.

My only small nitpick is with the shot sound, i think the loud beep it makes is a bit much so i think it could be better to have either a less harsh sound or none at all. The music is quite good so i feel it could carry the game’s soundscape on its own just fine ^^

Overall Cool little retro game, well done :)

This game felt really polished. all very well themed and was just really fun to play. Thanks for such a cool entry!

This game was quite fun! It reminded me of Asteroids! I never killed the heart because I was told not to but, now when I read other comments, it seems I should have. I'll probably give it another go when I have more time! Good work!

A fun asteroids-ish bullet hell! I enjoyed the meta-narrative, and everything felt clean and responsive. I avoided killing the Heart enemy for a long time because it asked me not to, it wasn't until I accidentally killed it that I realised that moved the story along :)

I got a score of about 1600 before I started getting bored, so I think some further escalation of difficulty would be needed - perhaps multiples of the 'boss' enemies on screen at once?

Yeah definitely just ran out of steam with making content. Thanks for playing and looking forward to checking your entry out.

Such a cool concept! I loved the story aspect thru the CLI. Fun concept of a game as well, but was kind of slow for me

Developer

When you say slow are you referring to the gameplay or the game was literally running slow, as in FPS?

Submitted(+1)

the gameplay - at least the beggining of it took some time

Developer(+1)

I see. Yeah it is was it is. Very old school arcady kinda game. I was just concerned it was FPS as in theory it should perform very well even on a potato.

A bit too old school for my taste but well made and polished!

This is so fun to play and theme is on point. Came back to it again for another round and found the debug button, still died lol.
