Game Description
You had a little too much fun last night and you wake up in your neighborhood park, clothes nowhere to be found. Nude Awakening: The Long Walk Home is a stealth game that sends you on the harrowing, naked journey home- dodging your neighbors along the way. Will you make it home with your reputation intact, or will you be arrested for public indecency? The goal of the game is to reach your house and avoid being seen by your neighbors. Three strikes and you're off to jail! Check your minimap and follow the arrow to your house. Made for Godot Wild Jam #81. Theme: Expedition. This is the third game jam for my wife and me. She does the art and design, and I handle the coding.

How does your game tie into the theme?
When you're without your clothes, the journey home is fraught with peril.

Oh my gosh, I LOVE this take! Fun, simple, and hilarious.  I had to take a couple of goes to successfully make it back to the house and I was on edge the whole time, so absolutely great difficulty balancing here. And a nice touch having the police scouting on the last strike to amp up the stakes even more! (Also I adore that you're a husband/wife team that's so awesome.)

Expedition, more like "Expose-dition"... right, right?

Hahaha thank you so much!!!

Another fantastic showing! Your games have a great sense of humor, I've really enjoyed them. The art style here is fantastic, I really liked how it all fit together. Excellent music as well. And Frank....Frank, Frank, Frank. Can't live next to him, can't not live next to him if you are going to get arrested for streaking. Please water my nasturtiums!

"Once again you will not face the consequences of your actions." This is directly referring to me overpopulating the earth with bunnies in your last game. And now I've done it again with a little HOA deviancy.

Thank you so much for that amazing review! You guys always do an amazing job and were such an inspiration to us in the last jam, so that really means a lot!

Oh no, I can’t believe I woke up naked again! How does this keep happening!? This was a really fun stealth game, I love how the idea very much motivates you on an emotional level immediately - you know for sure you wouldn’t want to get caught in this situation!

  • (+) Nice environments that filled both the purpose of obstacles and protection. It’s rare with true top-down camera, but perfect for this.
  • (+) It was a perfectly tricky stealth game. It was very clear when you’d get spotted and not, and the patrols were well-balanced.
  • (-) I think I spent 80% of the game looking at the minimap, because it just held more information than the normal map. Maybe at least add the vision cones to the normal level too? Then the minimap could be more to see patrols ahead.

Really good job!

We keep hearing that about the mini map! It didn’t occur to us before publishing, but we have some ideas to make the “incoming neighbor” warnings more in-game. Thank you so much for the thorough review- we’re so glad you liked it! :)

Hilarious, I like the endings are great. 3-6 months seems a bit steep for nudity lol. And judging your neighbor for being in a bathrobe made me laugh.

A really intuitive game, didn’t need any tutorial or instruction. My only critique would be it feels like 70% of the time I’m looking at the tiny minimap which only takes up like 5% of the screen, but still had a good time. Nice work!

Developer

Yes, we have some thoughts about how to get rid of the mini map after the game jam now that people have pointed that out. Thank you so much for playing it and taking the time to review!

Funny concept, and well executed with all of the art and audio.

Great job!

Developer

Thank you!!!

hahaha, what an incredible ending.

Really fun and simple stealth concept, It was actually quite tense and I felt real shame when I heard the exasperated shock of a person who caught a glimpse of me in the bushes.

Developer

Thank you! That's really great to hear!

Got a good laugh from me when being caught by a neighbour and they just blurt out " WHY?! "

Fun game with an impressive amount of artwork too. Thought it looked great and is a neat idea, plus i always love a stealth game.

Good job both.

Developer

Hahaha thank you so much!

It is fun indeed! But I agree with others to have the vision cones on the main map instead and to skip the cutscene BECAUSE we wanna try again ofc  hahaha very fun idea

Developer

Absolutely! We're definitely going to put a skip in after the jam- we're annoyed with ourselves haha thank you for playing!

Great game and adorable art! I agree with other comments on adding the vision cones to the main map instead - likely a skill issue on my part but I ended up caught so many times that I wished there was a skip cutscene button so I could retry faster ahaha. What a fun concept and funnier game :)

Developer(+1)

That's the first thing on our to-do list after the jam! My husband realized right after we submitted that we should have added a skip, and he was right. Thank you so much for playing!

This playthrough was really fun. I think I would have preferred it if there was no minimap as I really starred at all the vision cones on the minimap instead of appreciating the nice art and cool animations. (This didnt changed my rating at all)  But nonetheless very well made game!

Developer

Thank you! Yes, that seems to be the common feedback. We have to find a way to incorporate the warning system into the actual game. We really appreciate you playing and letting us know what you think!

i think i played this game in real life after a night out.. can’t quite remember. Fun game!

lol, fun and realistic game, who has never woken up naked in a dumpster? xD

Really great idea for a short game, funny and works well for the theme too haha.
The foot slap sound is just right 😋

Nice job 😊

Thank you!!!

This was an amusing idea. Great concept for a stealth game.

Great job with this one. The mechanics all played out great, the concept was super funny, and we really enjoyed the two endings.

Developer(+1)

We appreciate that so much, thank you!

That was a fun idea and the stealth mechanics work very well. It's quite a challenge, that must be the most busy neighborhood in the world! Congratulations, very fun game.

Developer

Haha I made some dog and cat sprites as well, but we ran out of time! :/

Hilarious game! I love the idea behind it.

The simple idea was really well implemented. The coverage of the NPCs ramped up well, climaxing in the cop search which really got my adrenaline up!

The thoughtful touches like neighbourhood bustle SFX really added to the feel.

I never did get home (almost had it once skirting the side of the map, but a police car with wide search angles got me). I wish there was a way to skip the ending text scroll, but I understand I had to reminded of what burden I left to Frank for about... what must have added up to 4-5 years of lawn mowing.

Love this one, and its always nice to see a GameDev couple :D

Developer

Hahaha right after we submitted it, my husband said “Oh man, I forgot to add a skip option at the end!” He knew that might annoy people, sorry about that!
Thank you so much for the review! :)

Funny concept!

It's really fun, but I feel like you look more at the mini map then the actual game.

Still I liked it a lot and it's very original

Developer

That’s a good point! Maybe if we redo it, we can figure out how to incorporate a warning system onto the actual play screen.

This was very funny and a lot of fun! The scale was very impressive for the time frame; I thought the art style was very nice as well.

Developer

Thank you so much! :)
