While the game was kinda confusing at first, I found the combination of strategy and rhythm to be interesting. The art style and sound design was very fitting for the NES retro feel. Also, maybe you could add more than one input for the rhythm section like guitar hero lol
thank you very much for your feedback! we appreciate it very much. Yes it’s a bit confusing due to the little testing and lack of a playable tutorial (working on jam stuff you know) But we’re still happy that the combination of genres turned out well. Yes we have thought about adding different patterns and rhythm games for different situations as well as bosses or levels. In fact we got so excited about all this that we decided to develop the project to make it a full game, changing some systems.
What a cool concept!
I played for about half an hour because of the rhythm mini game, it was fun. But to be honest, I still don't really understand what was going on. haha
Thank you very much for your comment! Although the tutorial was there to help, we would have liked a much more in-depth and playable tutorial. The idea was to have your creatures fight for you and summon them with rhythm games. And then you have to manage and manage what to summon and what not according to stats, damage, life and more.
enjoyed the music, nice graphics and love the game style, maybe a Button to give up or to go back to Main Menu
Thank you! <3
Now that you mention it, we never thought of an option to give up or a pause menu even. Very valious feedback!
Thanks for playing our game!
Solid game, enjoyed the music and loved the creatures at the top. Very good job!
Thank you so much! <3
Even if the sprites a bit small, I worked really hard on them! <3
Glad you enjoyed the game!
An interesting game with a good concept, complemented by great pixel art and sound design.
Excellent work — you did a great job!
Thanks so much for the comment! <3
I haven't been able to try your game yet but i'm looking forward to it <3
Very cool game with an interesting blend of genres! The art is really nice and I love that the different monsters have different sounds.
I'd love to see this fleshed out into a full game!
Thank you so much for the feedback, I'm so glad you enjoy it.
The combination of rhythm and RPG mechanics gave us a lot of trouble when it came to understanding it, and the short time involved left us with a lot of confusion. But we're glad to know you can still enjoy it <3
Wow the art is so excellent here. I recognize this might come off as a strange compliment, but man the UI is beautiful. Not gonna comment on it being confusing beyond agreeing with everyone else, but I also ended up liking it once I figured it out. Excellent work for such a tight timeline!
Wow thank you so much for your kind word! <3
I made all the art for the game so this means a lot to me <3
Very cool game, i like the art a lot. My only complaint would be that the timing felt very strict and the rules were a bit confusing.
Thank you so much! <3
Yeah we're seeing that we should've put a bit more time into making a better tutorial to explain this weird amalgamation of genres xD
Thanks for putting the time to play it! <3
And also thanks so much for noticing the artwork :')
(i'm the artist :D)
I agree with others was slightly confused but once I got it I really liked it. Combining rhythm into almost a turn-based combat sort of thing was really cool reminded me of the little mini games in the Paper Mario series during combat. I love the aesthetics and art reminds me a lot of Crawl if you've played that.
Aww man thank you so much! <3
Yes! we took a lot of inspiration from Loop Hero and Crawl, i'm so glad that you noticed! <3
REALLY I KNEW IT thats amazing makes me so happy
Thank you so much for giving it a try until we understood it. Honestly, we didn't have enough time to create a proper tutorial. We also missed a lot of key visual and auditory feedback, but thanks to all your feedback, these are things we'll be fixing in the future.
I like the pixel art and atmosphere. And game is difficult to me
Thank you! we put a lot of effort in giving you all the same concept. The game is a bit difficult yes! but the concept is also that you try many times, die and try and discover! The essence of roguelikes!
I tried multiple times and I think I don't get it, oops xD
The tutorial didn't mention the beat mechanic at all, unless I missed it somehow, but from the description I get that it's a rhythm game.
So I choose one or more creatures, which adds them to the bar above, then press the book and the track plays. Then I click... anywhere? To hit the notes? I time it to the beat and the visuals but get really poor scores, not sure what I'm doing wrong. And not sure what adding more creatures does, they don't seem to get summoned at all, I just get damaged and die eventually.
What am I doing wrong? I'd like to enjoy it, there's clearly a nice concept here!
Sorry for the late reply and thanks to taking the time to actually give it a few tries!
We expected that our game was going to be kind of tough to ge into but i'll try to explain how it works a bit better so you can have a better experience! <3
So the gameplay its divided in two phases. The first phase is like the planning phase. In this phase you have to select how many units you want to play to defeat the enemies on top. We always recommend to take advantage of the immunity time at the start of each level to play one unit and then star building a snowball effect slowly playing more and more units.
The second phase starts when you click on the book. Here you will start to play the rhythm mini game, following the patterns of each unit you chose to play, and you start to click on the pentagram or just using the Spacebar (Which i think is easier to play). At the same time that you're playing the rhythm minigame, the combat on the top of the screen also starts to unfold.
Keeping in mind that the amount of units you're going to play will determine how long the combat will be is vital to survive the fight!
Sorry for the long answer, some of this should've been on the tutorial but we didn't have the time to design it that well xD
Aah, I see now! Yeah this would be a lot clearer with some feedback (pointing hand cursor when mousing over the book and of course like others mentioned, visual/audio feedback when hitting/missing the notes).
I'll try again in the evening, thanks for explaining it :D
this is so much fun! I really like it! :D
I would love to get more Feedback as player but that was already mentioned by other Players.
Nice Art an Concept.
Thanks so much for your comment!
And yes, we are seeing that the visual feedback was really necessary and we kind of over-looked that. Thanks for giving it a try! <3
I really liked this game! Wonderful pixel art, great music, unique gameplay. Were there keyboard input options for this that I missed? I'm left handed, so using my right hand on the mouse to click to the rhythm was a little tough. But that's really my only "complaint". Great job!
Oh thanks so much! We really appreaciatte your compliment to all the areas to the game!
And on the keyboard input feedback. I just talked about this to our programmer and he just told me that we could always play it with the spacebar... I just found out... He never told us xD
So yeah, if you want to give it another shot, please do! <3
Thanks a lot for playing and the feedback, here's the programmer, I thought about left-handed people from the beginning ;) (lie)
another rhythm game here too haha. Very cool concept and art. Only wish there’s was more of an indication when I was on beat and if my inputs were being registered
Thanks so much for the feedback! (loved your game btw)
We're reciving a lot of feedback about that so we're already working to fix that and have a better response to the player inputs <3
I hope you guys keep developing your game, there's definetly potential in there! <3
(pd: we actually tried to do something very similar in the past but with a bullet hell and died trying so we're resting our hopes on you!)
(pd: our programmer is obsessed with Disco Is Dead hahaha)
I’m so honoured 😭
If your programmer has any questions about the how the rhythm system in my game works just hmu. I learnt a lot of nifty tricks for handling a rhythm system
I really loved it. I was telling my partners this afternoon how well it was done. Like he says, we're trying to gain experience in rhythm games, and we know how difficult it is, but you guys did excellent!
I'll keep your profile in mind for any questions or suggestions, and to see project progress! <3
You completely exposed me! How embarrassing!
Really fun but i have a skill issue with this game haha, though eventually i won it.
Thanks so much for working your way through it!
We're happy that you enjoyed it <3
Good job on incorporating a turn based strategy game with a rhythm-based summoning mechanic. I like the extra detail in giving each type of enemy their own rhythm notes for you to summon them with. The music and graphics are not bad, but the gameplay is what makes this game the most interesting! Well done!
Thanks so much for your comment!
We were really scared to try this bizarre combination but luckily we managed to make something fun out of it. All the units and enemies were all crafted and polished by our programmer which slept next to nothing trying to make everything work! We really appreaciatte you noticing all the content! <3
What I think would be more awesome that if you want to summon multiple enemies at the same time, you have to press all to the monster's beat simultaneously instead of doing one monster at a time, and one can be the drums, one can be the bass, and one for guitar etc.
The art style is really cool, and the rhythm mechanic works really well. I am not sure why I was getting damaged, I thought I was timing the notes right. But then again, I jumped straight to gameplay lol. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your comment! We're really aprecciating everyones feedback <3
This may clarify the way the game works, sorry for the long reply xD
Keep in mind that the combat only develops while you're playing the rhythm mini game. The enemies will hit you only when you don't have any creatures on board. This means that if you try to play too many units at the same time, you won't be able to survive the turn.
We recommend to take advantage of the immunity time at the start of each level and play only one creature. This way, the next turn you can play more creatures while the first one you played is taking the damage for you. Another suggestion is to try to build a snowball effect with the amout of units you play.
Now, the rhythm mechanic only affects the quality of the units stats, missing notes doesn't damage your health directly.
We hope you can give another shot and enjoy it!
Really fun gameplay and good of mix rhythm and turn based combat.
Only issue for me there is not visual feedback about our clicking I couldnt get when it was counted. But except that was really fun and cool idea and I really enjoyed ! "Excellent" sfx was really funny btw ! :D
Thanks so much for the comment!
We worked our asses off on this one and still didn't get to add everything that we intended. Between those things there was that click or hit feedback but we didn't get there in time hahha
Thanks so much for playing! <3
You`re welcome, you can also try our game !

We have also same issue somethings are still missing in our game, we focused to completing the basic things first. In 10 day it`s not easy to finish everything :D
