Short but sweet. Great job on getting a whole game together. Something to look into the future is how UI controls are anchored to the scene, my non-standard aspect ratio put the controls in a weird place. Thankfully it doesn’t affect enjoying the game in this case, just something to be aware of in the future.
A really nice entry with a cool vibe. Loved the interweved backstory with the gameplay, and I particularly loved the mix of POV 3D with top-down 2D
Btw, thanks for making this playable on Mac (although I had some scaling issues that could be solved by playing around with the project settings a bit)
Nice take on the theme. It was nice having a story about the protagonist experiences while fishing. This can be explored further, maybe having to find rare fish in hidden places. Congratulations on the entry.
Very nice mix of 2D and 3D and the narrative was great. Also one of the less punishing fishing games I've played :D
Nice short experience, I liked how the dialogue provided was just simple enough to give a small glimpse into the relationship while conveying a lot of unsaid emotion underneath. Really loved the mix of 2D and 3D prerenders too; I actually found the rendered scenes quite beautiful in a nostalgic kind of way.
This brought back so many childhood memories, thank you.
what cute and nice entry! how dare you twist my feelings so?! I was definitely unprepared for navigating these kinds of waters at 1 in the morning
Had a few control confusions initially, but figured it out along the way. Otherwise a pretty solid and concise game!

Really sweet and unexpected narrative in a fishing game package. I love fishing in games.
Great work!
Thank you, I am currently obsessed with Fishing, both in games and in person so I wanted to communicate some of that interest. The boat was fun to implement, fun fact it reverses twice as fast as it goes forward because I had to inverse my movement script and I forgot to change the values to match it.
Reminds me of fishing with my dad on the open lake. Nice entry
This is pretty nice. It can be pretty hard to pull off something that's more narrative focused for a gamejam due to the limited time but I think you've hit a sweet spot here where it's not overly complicated but still has a bit of deeper meaning behind it, at least that's what I felt after getting to the end.
I quite liked using both the 2d and 3d mix, it felt like how in an RPG you tend to get stylized overworlds to explore that are separate from the actual areas.
For the little bit of story, this was really cute. I could see a larger version of this having a really big emotional reveal/payoff at the end.
Agreed that the juxtaposition of 2D pixel art and 3D art was a bit jarring, but I there were a lot of nice touches. The motor loop for the boat was nice.
As for the fishing mechanic, I feel like it was a solid base, but it would have been nice to see some more variation, having to adapt to the fish’s movement or something along those lines.
Regardless, for your first complete game, this was solid!
Edit: Also, I played this on Linux and it worked well! Just figured I’d throw that out there in case you weren’t sure.
I agree with so much of what you have to say, I felt proud it was completed but like it was wanting more. I’m happy it worked on Linux, my friend said he couldn’t get it working the night before the deadline and I reuploaded it but he didn’t have time to test it before work. Thank you for the honest review.
I liked the fishing mechanic, but I feel like the art style isn't consistent, I would recommend you focus on one art style instead of 2D pixel art and 3D low poly in the same game.
But it's a nice experience!
Yeah, the game was a kit bash because I didn't think I would have time for art, but I will keep that in mind for the next one. :)
Interesting mix of 2D and 3D. Fishing mechanic design borrows from the style of Stardew Valley, but if it works, why not? Story / dialogue very basic, but oddly sentimental with the twist at the end. Nice effort!
