Thanks for swinging by and asking to review the game!  I had some good fun on this!  Some general notes:

  1. The zone / behavior of the cards as the player hovers over it needs a little tuning.  It feels a little short or doesn't adjust with the cards as they raise.
  2. The player shouldn't be able to fully knock back an enemy indefinitely.  Consider giving other buffs such as slows or a cooldown on the knockbacks so they always have forward progress.
  3. Some of the boss effects can feel arbitrarily punishing (ie. destroying relics or turrets).  The actual effect of this on the players build can be a little random in its effect based on how they've built / invested.
  4. The different kinds of cards could use an additional icon to explain more what kind of card it is.  This doubles the amount of information available to the player and also removes an issue if the player is colorblind.
  5. The sway of the camera can possibly cause misclicks, maybe have a setting to disable it.
  6. When upgrading a building it seems to upgrade only one of them (possibly the last one placed).  Efforts to upgrade one of the barracks always ended up upgrading the other.
  7. A codex of what the different possible cards, turrets, and items would be very useful.  Some games make it so only seen items are visible, but a feature like this would reduce the knowledge burden on the player.

I have a great time with this game!  Very deep and lovely art style!  Some general comments:

  1. I absolutely LOVE how the tooltips are done! Great job!
  2. On the final island I encountered, I wasn't able to explore and make visible the cell across the bridge.

This was really fun! A nice refreshing twist on the line clearing block stacker.  Some general comments:

  1. It would be good to introduce the controls to the player during the tutorial.  I was able to guess the correct controls coming in using prior experience, but any game could be someone's first game.
  2. it's not immediately clear how repeating blocks will behave (ie. more than one operator or number in a row)
  3. It's not tutorialized that equations resolve left to right for attacks and also top to bottom for defense
  4. It would have been nice to know that creating a negative value hurts the player instead
  5. The defense line muting out any tall stacks is a little confusing.  It initially seems pretty punishing, especially since it's an unknown mechanic.  It might be enough to know about it in the tutorial.
  6. It's not too clear when a block falls to the bottom or if it just drops one line after a clear. (seems verticals drop all the way down? and horixontals only drop one line?)
  7. the randomness of the next block feels like it takes a little of the player's agency.  The complexity of anticipating the next block (or possible blocks) is like trying to play two simultaneous games of blackjack.  Rather than trying to orchestrate combos I felt like I was simply reacting to the next block without planning anything.  There is a good cognitive harmony with the combat for it, but the player will be missing out on dopamine hits from high skill line resolutions.

I have actually, and enjoyed it very much! I'm a little behind in posting my reviews, I'll make sure I post yours with a link to the VOD later today

This was a fun game, with some really interesting mechanics!  I love that the initial barrier of entry seems pretty low, and then the game expands on the concept nicely.

  1. The options screen could use some extra work to be more responsive to the game state.  From the main menu outside a run, having run tabs available may confuse the player.  Also, opening the from in the game returns to the last tab selected, which may not the be list of possible hands as directed by the tutorial.
  2. There's some odd artifacts in the tutorial text.  On the Launch tutorial it doesn't seem like the text fully finishes its animation
  3. Hot dice isn't explained in the the tutorial
  4. Consumables aren't explained with the tutorial, starting with a standard additional die would help explain the point.
  5. It's a little unclear as to when the Mult triggers or possibly how it grows

This was really fun! Very simple, but also still alot to chew on as a player. It was great zooming around and navigating the puzzles.  Some general comments:

  1. The language cube, is a little weird.  Nothing bad with it, just felt odd to use.
  2. Moving the sliders for the volume feels odd
  3. It would be great if a small sound effect played while adjusting the Sound Effect slider so that the player knows what they're setting the slider to.
  4. The blue blocks being safe to land on should be tutorialized.  Also, be careful as there is red blue colorblindness (though rare), and also total colorblindness.
  5. The recoil on the mouse's blast is cool, and offers alot of skill expression
  6. Manually activating the checkpoint isn't immediately clear.  Unless there are puzzles that rely on that mechanic, it might be good for those just activate by proximity.
  7. it may feel obvious that the player should shoot the aggressive blocks, but it still would be nice to have a tutorial icon / hint for it
  8. The slingload / magnet grab feature is going to be a pain point for alot of players.  It's not necessarily a bad thing, but handing payloads of similar mass to your own craft is a pretty advanced skill
  9. The moving panels in the bossfight don't have any apparent collision.

This was a really fun tactical!  There are alot of crunchy stats to dive into and I really love the art and feel of the game.  Some general notes:

  1. There's a weird movement in the Volume sliders.
  2. The SFX Slider could use some sound that plays when adjusted so the user knows how loud they're setting it
  3. The angle in which an action happens can be changed inside the target cell.  This feels a little sensitive and can lead misclicks (I also don't believe it's tutorialized).  It may be better to have a larger deadzone in the middle of the cell so it doesn't change as the player clicks
  4. The initiative system is sort somewhat vague, and makes planning difficult.  having a clear turn order would feel much more accessible.
  5. It would be nice to have tooltips for the stats in combat would be nice
  6. In the Units for Hire it would be nice to be able to navigate / tooltip the stats somehow
  7. it seems you can only have one squad of every type.  This isn't immediately clear from the hiring menu
  8. The Innkeeper has range, which isn't immediately clear what the effect of that does for a melee character
  9. the Unit and Item awards could use some directions on the page to teach the player what it's for.
  10. There was an odd bug when recruiting wizards (the unit showed up as blank initially on the 5th slot)
  11. The game leans very heavily into the player being experienced in similar games.  I recommend finding some players who are familiar with the genre and gathering feedback on your tutorials

I really enjoyed how much care and effort you put into the description.  It was really well done!  I do typically intentionally ignore the description as part of the review process (to allow the game to lead me without any anchoring)  and then make sure to retry the game if there is anything major revealed as we review the description and ratings page at the end.

Hey there it's Oden here.  It will be my second time joining the event, and while I can't be as active as last time, I'm very excited to do what I can.

I play a vast variety of games both in quantity and genre, and also participate in game jams primarily as a solo dev.  I actually just wrapped up my first time on a team this week, and it's been very exciting.  As my saying goes, I play everything from Automation to Admin and Shooters to Sims, so drop a ping on either my Bluesky or Carrd:
https://odenhir.carrd.co/
https://bsky.app/profile/odenhir.bsky.social

And feel free to swing by stream and request there as well while I'm live:

Thanks for playing!  I also  really enjoyed reveling in the chaos that starts to build up towards the end of the first round and onwards.  It seems most people skipped the tutorial, so we'll likely make it mandatory to go through it atleast once, and have an option to reset the flags in the menu somewhere.

Thanks!  I'm glad you enjoyed it.  It was really fun seeing this one come together, and am excited to expand on it a little after the jam.

Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!  I definitely want to expand on it a bit more.  We did notice the start was a little harsh, so I'll have to make sure that gets addressed in a post-jam patch

Thanks! I do agree that the player is a little slow, it's possible it's something we can adjust through gameplay or add a dash of some sort.  If the cranes were a little closer or something more to do in between would make it a little more interesting.

I struggled a little with the background as well, when it was at full brightness it really gave everything a camouflage effect. So we ended up giving it a slider and turning it way down.

Thanks for playing! I definitely agree, and want to give it a good post jam patch after as well.  I think one of the features we'll add is a progressive tutorial system that defaults to on for new players and can be reset in the settings.

Thanks! Our team had a blast brainstorming about it and we probably spent a whole minute laughing about it as the idea came together.

I did think I was a little heavy handed in tuning the player attacks, as we wanted to emphasize the minions.  Possibly it's something we can improve with gameplay actions later on.

Great work! it was really cool to see how powers were introduced and built upon for the finale.  This was very fun and rewarding to ply through.

This was an interesting take, great work!  I do wish there was a small tutorial somewhere in the game to prime me for what I needed to do in the game, but otherwise I was able to figure it out and have some good fun with it.

I definitely spent alot more time than I expected on this, it was very captivating and fun!  Also, thanks for swinging by stream as well!  I did eventually beat that level and the game, and it felt super satisfying.  Awesome work!

Fun take on the platformer genre!  It would be nice to have an in-game tutorial or hints for the first two charging stations.  There was one specific section that had some harsh "checkpointing" for the falls, but otherwise very fun to solve the jumps and progress through.

Very fun! It was a blast (literally sometimes) to drive around and explore.  The vehicle could have probably used a little bit more lateral grip, but otherwise felt really great to zoom around and drive.  I also really like how light and dark was used in the bunkers.

Good work! Thanks for swinging by chat and trusting me with your game!  If I had any critiques, it would be to add a simple tutorial at the starting point or a start screen.

This was pretty cool! I loved what you did with the lighting!  Though, the dark areas seem a bit too dark to see the enemies.  I also encountered a bug where it said I was defeated, and then still progressed me to the next level.  Definitely an epic experience all around though.

This was interesting!  i love the puzzles and the process of solving them here.  Some in game tutorialization would be nice.  There is also a slight accessibility concern with using only colors to indicate the blocks and weapon parts, but otherwise good work!

This was a blast to play and fiddle around with different builds and layouts.  The controls though feel a little too crisp, and running into enemies sideways was pretty punishing.  It was very rewarding though to unsuccessfully try to build a big steam roller that just rolled down the lane.

Great job and great execution! I really enjoyed this one found myself playing it all the way through.  Some general comments:

  1. The sound effects are VERY satisfying
  2. As a dyslexic, thanks for including a dyslexic font for the words
  3. I really enjoyed the scaling of the game's difficulty
  4. The SFX volume slider doesn't have any audio feedback when interacted with, it would be nice to have something so the player knows if the setting is correct
  5. it would be nice to have keyboard controls for the shop as to not have to switch hands off the keyboard and use the mouse for selections
  6. The rules per match is tucked away to the side and wasn't immediately apparent
  7. There are accessibility notes to be had on the color and missing letter challenges.  It's more worth noting upfront rather than changing, as these sections would be near impossible for those players

The VOD of the review is linked below, and will be available for 60 days:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2855647604?t=0h32m22s

This was a lovely game, very charming  and plays very well.  Some general comments:

  1. The controls are very fluid and the gameplay is satisfying (especially tied with the sound effects)
  2. The master volume slider moves down when keyboard volume keys are pressed, regardless of which ones are pressed
  3. The plus and minus buttons in the store are either not being localized, or are untranslated.
  4. If there is localization, that's really cool! good job going through that effort
  5. It's not necessarily clear how to end the interaction with an NPC, a close button would help
  6. It would be nice to be able to see your available gold in the screen where you can buy upgrades
