'A Knight's Myosotis' is a really charming fantasy romance story that really delivers on that fluffy sweet romance. It's a bit of a long story for how simple the plot it, but I think it really adds to investment you have into these characters on who slowly find affection for each other. It does a lot to establish that the main character is a dutiful stoic that needs his heart warmed by a free-spirited wolf. There's a lot of little details in the setting that really paint a lovely picture of this fantasy land, as well as a culture that feels lived in.
The implementation of theme really does come through well, metaphorically in this story. The oppressive ruler ship of a tyrant king is a dark place for this knight, who only wants to fulfill his duty of being a good knight. The rebel wolf acts as the light in the dark, as someone who has finally shown him warmth and affection, that he hasn't received in his upbringing. The story is simple but effective in showcasing this. It also does well in giving a proper dilemma for the main character, as he's presented with a difficult decision.
The art is very charming and storybook like, which lends itself well to the aesthetic that it's going for. The little reveal at then end of the story when the knight's helmet finally reveals his face is a great way to tie in his growth as a character, letting himself be vulnerable and open with 'his wolf'. It's actually quite nice that this explores romance in a platonic way, in a way that feels approachable for all ages.
While this story doesn't do anything crazy, it does try fun techniques like turning into an actual storybook presentation, which I think it a really cute a creative use of the medium. Overall, this was an enjoyable read, and I look forward to seeing other stories from this artist/author
