Figuring out the puzzles felt like a good challenge that rewards you with a great story. Thoroughly coordinated audio, visuals, story, and gameplay elements. Amazing teamwork, great job!
Amazing art and story! The puzzles were really good and the overall quality is fantastic.
Man...I have no words except what a phenomenal game. I feel like I need to go take a walk after that...
I CAN FIX HER!!! In all seriousness...ah ouch, my heart...Yeah this one is filled with love and angst alright, truthfully this kind story hit me right in me right in the kokoro..., that means, it was well written! I enjoy how this VN has its twist of being a point and click puzzle game and the puzzle themselves are really interesting! Plus, phenomenal work on the cut-scenes, playing through this game actually feels like a full-fledge game. I had nothing to add except, this AWESOME works for you and the team!
That was great! Really shows what a team firing on all cylinders can do in this short period. Art, music, gameplay and story all come together nicely. I ran into a couple of bugs, sometimes the drop area for the cores were just black for me, and there was one where a puzzle felt impossible because the down arrow was rendering underneath another block, but I was able to work around by removing the block and adding it back. Great work, really enjoyed playing it!
Beautiful character art and animations. Great UI aesthetic.
The cutscene animations and the music elevate the key narrative moments.
Wonderful story. Loved the little cameos of other holoEN talents.
The puzzles are just right and don't distract from the narrative. However, I have to say it took me some minutes to grasp how the "portal" blocks worked.
That ending got me staring at a black screen for a while... processing what I had just seen.
Wow.
Some improvement suggestions:
- After completing the gear puzzles, I left the blueprints panel open so it kinda blocked the workbench later in the story. Would be nice if the panel automatically hides after the cutscene.
- As others have mentioned, sometimes the dropping area for the parts in the core puzzles became a black box, but it didn't affect gameplay.
- The "puzzle complete" sfx felt a bit too loud.
Great game! You accomplished a lot in just 2 weeks! Good job, team!
The soundtrack goes well with the art and story. The point-and-click and puzzle gameplay are woven well with the whole story. The Mumei (and Kronii) inclusion made me smile :) I also really like some of the designs-- the textbox is pretty and the Gigi TV was a great design. I enjoyed playing this.
Really chill, with a clear vision delivered through a cohesive narrative and gameplay.
The visuals gave off this old school Newgrounds flash game aesthetic, which worked really well with the point and click elements. The music had a mid 2000s visual novel feel to it, evocative of VNs by Minori in particular. Considering both areas are often very lackluster in indie VNs released today, it was a lovely surprise to see and hear something with so much character.
As a sucker for elements of friendship and community, it was nice to see other holoEN members participate in the story but Advent felt a little underplayed for who I'd imagine to be an important person to them. On the other hand this keeps the focus between Gigi and CC, and I understand that time constraints would require compromising the well done visuals to feature more characters.
Gameplay wise the puzzles were neat and the final ones were particularly fun gimmick-wise. However, moving the inventory items into the arrows felt a bit awkward and arrows detaching from blocks, or the entry points turning black/disappearing was common (I was playing the web browser version so this may not have been an exe/app issue). Scrolling down the inventory with a trackpad also made it freak out.
Sometimes I'd accidentally click too many times and skip an important bit of dialogue about what I was supposed to be doing next, seeing past text or a little objective description would have helped. Arrow keys or WASD for the puzzle parts would have been nice.
Overall it was really pleasant and I'd love to see the team tackle a similar game with either one long narrative, or multiple scenarios beyond the sole theme of love and angst.
I enjoyed this a lot!! I love the way the amazing art was implemented throughout the story and how the game was way longer than I thought itd be (which is a good thing!!) I felt cece and gigi's personalities through the writing and the ending left me feeling.... yeah... awesome work!!
this is so good
Full animated cutscenes, a stunning soundtrack and a compelling puzzle based story in a 2 week jam?? Insane job with the whole package!
This was a really cute and sweet game. I really liked how the story balanced the love and angst. The art is really pretty, the puzzles were well design, and the music was lovely.
Dang you got a lot of game done in the span of the jam, good job! I'm gonna be nitpicky cause the game is in good shape generally:
I know it sounds like a lot, but I'm really impressed with what you got through, I just want to help. Good work team!
Great storytelling, nice job to everyone involved!
PEAK CINEMA.
I was already sold when I saw it was Autofister fanfic, but for it to be DOOMED YURI AUTOFISTER FANFIC?!
The puzzles are not difficult to understand that with just a few seconds of fiddling around you'd immediately understand what needs to be done, but also they're still challenging enough that you won't blast through them all.
Maybe my only comment on the negative side would be a slight lack of sfx in places. The music does a lot in most scenes and in others the silence is warranted, but sometimes a scene is too quiet because there's no bgm and no ambient noise filling the gap, but take this comment with a grain of salt because it might only be me since I'm the type of person whose brain is thinking too many things and a little filler sfx or bgm is nice to fill in those spaces and helps me calm down/focus.
The art was stellar. I love the use of monochrome for the cutscenes. The overall colour palette is nice and soft. The animations and cutscenes themselves were pretty good. The writing?! 10/10. I started playing it and was expecting a short experience where Cece needed a little repairs, but then it started getting longer and longer, and more and more needed to be repaired, and then I was waist deep in emotions and I'm punching the walls with how beautifully tragic it all is.
Amazing work from the team, and congrats to you all!!
Amazing to see this being made in 2 weeks!!! I don't even have words to describe this, so I will procede to type some numbers: 15156341563418612563541941694523614856.
There is some jankiness to the game, moving around menus and the windows that pop up (eg: i did not know how to close the dialogue option nor if it was possible, so if i accidentally clicked cc i had to commit to a dialogue) but aside from those little details, everything in my playthrough went good.
Such an amount of playtime, the cinematics, the content!! How do you even test this in two weeks!!?? You all are insane!! Very nice work!!!!!!! Standing ovation!!!
A great game, hard to believe it was made merely in 2 weeks. Its a cute point and click game reminiscent of games past. Or professor Layton maybe. The puzzles toggle something that hits my adhd brain just right. And theres a save system so no pressure to finish it all in one sitting, which id good cause there' sa sizable chunk of great content.
I've played i think 30 minutes of this and there's nothing about this i don't love. The story, the music, the art, the point and click. It all comes together to game something that feels professional. I'd highly recommend this game in general, especially if you're worn out from a long day.
If you're reading reviews to see if a game is worth playing right now or later. Yes, its worth playing now, and there's a save system so you can play as long or short as you like. It is time to Autofist.
Congradulations on winning 1st place! I had a feeling this game was probably going to be the goat. Good job!
THIS IS GREAT
This game is an absolute cinematic masterpiece. The angst was gut-wrenching, and the love was palpable. I was super invested in trying to repair CC, and the puzzles were a decent challenge! I loved the orchestral arrangements for the soundtrack as well. An excellent job to the whole team.
