Imaculate visuals, and music is pretty nice too. Honestly a beautiful game and i can really see the apeal and respect the vision. Honestly the passion is just ozzing out of this one and i can see this being a gem of a game.
But, unfornuatly as the others mentioned, this game is held back by how wonkey it can be to controll the dancers. Not to be that person, but if i was to make a suggestion, maybe have it so that left click controlls red dancer, or switches main dragging dancer, while holding both makes them do the poss/kiss. Alternatively you could even keep the system in place as is, but have a distinct visual indicator of who's taking the lead (like did in the tutorial), and or maybe make them switch with a quick spin. But of course, hindsight is 20/20 and its easy to jsut suggest ideas, and a diffrent thing entirely to impliment them and see how they affect the balance of everything
Anyway i'm up at 2 am and i was planning on playing palworld but somehow i got pulled into these jams games, so if anything your game dragging me away from the allure of the pals. that's how you know you have something going for you. HOnestly, good work with this game and you got something real beautiful here, very impressive!
And remind me to stop staying up until 2 am
I stopped myself from playing palworld to play this game and i don't know if i have a better compliment then that.
Honestly, this is a lovely game that should have more ratings. The animations? charming. Writing, great. Audio comlimented the game well, and the retro style is charming as well. All in all i enjoyed playing it well.
I will say sometimes some of the puzzles felt repetative, mainly the one where you had to move two boulders across a room while not being caught. but thats the only nitpick i have so far
That being said, i did only get to about act 4 as of writing this review, so i'lll have to finish it later. But yes, Very nice game so far and very impressive you maanged to make all this in about 3 weeks!
The moment i saw a Disco Elysium inspired game in the discord knew I just had to try it out, and i can say i was not disapointed. Can't say i expected Cirno to start talking like a mobster but I rather enjoyed it. The ending bit certainly threw a lot of plot points at you at once, and maybe i would have enjoyed a bit more time on that of our character trying to piece things together before, well, what happened. (And maybe i thought the ending was a bit corny but that's just me. I can see the vision and i apriciate what it was going for)
As this is a story based submission I won't go into details of what goes on. I will say i enjoyed the writing and also the tale of a different flavor of love as well. All in all a great entry, and a nice play on its inspirations as well. well done!
It revealed i have a chronic skill issue. and i dont know how i feel about that.
All jokes aside this was an incredibly fun and engrossing game to play, My only issue i guess is that o got confused with which button does what. Admitly that also might be partaily a skill issue as well, though i might have liked a tutorial bit that prompts the button. Though even thats a nit pick as honestly the game does kind of do that,(Just wish it wouldn't tell me about the use of detaching and reatching the head while half the squares were being blown up lol)
Okay, but real now, this game is great. Love the visuals, the music, the funny background , and the gameplay is pretty nice too. Good job on this one!
OKay, lets start with the good.
The visuals on this are imaculate. the game is so pretty, and i enjoy making the cute cakes, as well as the small interactions with the characters. The concept is really neat!
And the negative. sadly the bugs, weird interaction boxes, design and jam jank creeps in on this one. Even when you manage to avoid the softlocks the game is still pretty janky. The game often doesn't tell you what you need to do (such as what tempature or how to cut Strawberries), and that combined with how Extreamly impatient yuuka is makes the game feel frustrating, or that you just just have to sloppily toss the cake together, espeicaly with the frosting decor part. I know yuuka would be stressed and rushed in this situation but she should seem like she knows what she's doing and not randomly interacting with things until things work.
To end this of on a lighter note, it's my belif that jams are made for this kind of thing. Testing your creativity so see what works and what doesn't. Plus, you made something, which is more then what many people have done. You all should be proud of that, especially with some of you being inexperienced as you are. Your first jams come out half baked so your future ones come out better. And You can't make a cake without breaking a few eggs.
So keep doing what you're doing, and i'd look forward to seeing what idea you guys have planned next
"The Donation box. It's empty, Just like my soul" Miko Badass Hero.
Honestly genuinly surpised that something horrifying nor trippy jumped out at me, but i guess i'm to paranoid from popular horror games of the game genre. That or a part of me was expecting "What is love?" to start blaring like that one game from some time ago
My Gaming PC is also Linux (got scared of the dangerous updates lol) And i built it for games. yet for some reason it couldn't run it. Like, not run slow, just not at all. but my Laptop (also Linux) Ran it just fine. Oh well. Either way, updated my review and played it. Oh crud i played it for an hour.. welp. What do? It was fun what can say?
How does this game run on my Casual Linux laptop by not my dedicated gaming PC? Oh well, i'll get bck you you when i've plated the game
EDT: OKay, played the game. Got too cokey and lost a 20+Min run due to not paying attention to time. Ironicly the winnign run right after that Showered me in revival items, its like the game knew
honsetly i don't know what to say about this one. In my experience throughout these jams, every once in a while you find a game that's a real Gem thoughout the Jam entries. Like, one that makes you think "This was made in two weeks?!" I belive this is one of those this gems. That being said i do earnestly love the flavor of game jams bring, Its fun seeing peoples learning process and what they come up with and make in time alloted, and honestly if they make something nice that's just a nice bonus! (Least that's what i tell myself). Yet this is so polished it makes me look forward to what the team comes up with next.
Wait, am i going to have to say this for every game i find like that? Oh hell with it i'll think of a short version. Either way, good job, honestly one of the best games i played this jam!
Fun and cute game play, the ending was cute as well. The puzzles were clever and even had a few red herrings. That or i managed to abuse the physsics lol. Still, a fun play! Got stuckocasnioaly and sometimes got a buttons mized up, but all in all not to bad and a nice short experince.
Going to have to doc points for the 'Eternal meme' however
Love myself a good survivors like. Not much to say, i didn't expect the twist, ad the options were fun. Though like otehrs said, some enimies did run up and suprise me sometiems especialy with the bug UI on the top. but really i enjoyed my time wit it. reminded me lots of the Vamp survivors and magic survivors
A very pretty game! Love the insprirations. and the art was very nice!
Didn't quite understand what was going on, and i thought the coins were icons to move time or somewhere else in a room., still, figured out what they were for eventualy.
Game wasn't quite clear what i had to do, and took me a moment to realize i had to click the characters multiple times to do things. But i figuered it out with amelia. Anyhow. it took me a few runs, butu i managed to stumble upon all three endings. Method was a bit obtuse and felt like more trail then error then anything, but i guess it time loop idea helpswith that, what with the game looping even after beating it.
good job with this game, the point and click was prtty fun and it was nice comeingto the areas to see whats new!
"Level Cleared! with no items! am i good or what?"
Seeing a familar Dec from the last jam I was lookign forward to this one. I only played a part of it so far but i enjoyed what i did so far. The art is great and the mechanics are nice. The dialouge is also pretty cute. All in all i enjoyed my time and had fun playing Holo bejeweled. Nice game! i can definitly see myself playing more of it
Game was amazing, though the only thing that went slightly sullied the expeince, besides the bug, was the method of getting the book. At first i thought "Oh the bad end has some fancy effect line. Cool. Well no need to linger, time to find the good ending"
That being said once i did figure it out (And by figure it out i mean look at the walkthough, yeah sue me.) I was able to peice everything togeather and thought it was really cool. Reminded me a bit of Oneshot with how having double windows.
Cool game! loved it and i'd love to see more like this!
Nice game! i don't think i have anything i could say that hasn't already been said, but i will say this, i think it would have been cool to have some secrets only reachable if you use the extra time from the clocks, as it is the time bounus really doesn't do anything as you typcialy need to reset time anyway (Maybe add a Clock token that remains to still gain the time bonus? I donno) But other then that, pretty funn still, good job obn making something for the jam!
An, alright game, congradulations on your first game. I do share the sentiment that the time range was rather strict, even if there'slittle punishment for it besides score. And donating cookies seems like a useless feature because it just wastes precious time that makes you stressed again.
Also making the cookies felt a bit repetative, so i didn't push much further then second level. Still, cute game, good job on making your first game, the art was great! good luck on games to come!
For those curious, this is inspired by the game "Loophole," an indie game with very simular mechanics. Personaly i think this guy imitated them pretty well! from paradoxes to It was a pretty enjoyable peice. An in game tutorial would have been nice, or at least promts saying 'Press E to pick up' or "Press R to rewind!" Still figured it out eventualy. Just a shame that he couldn't get more done in time, but that's life for you. Good work still!
I kinda have the same sentimints as everyone else. Game very much has an unfinished feel, so first and formost allow me to say this, congrats on getting a game out for the jam, i know it isn't easy, and sometimes life just gets in the way, belive me i know
Anyhow, back to the game itself. the game is nice but also feels like lots is missing from the typical feed-em-up style of game as i'll call it. The lack of tutorial i feel kinda hurts a game like this , or at least, what you need to do in order to make and server a meal isn't imediatly obvious, as the buttons to move around are quite out of the way, so it took me a while to figure out what to do. you're just thrown right in without any idea what you're doing. I mean, accurate to real workforce, but nevermind that.
There's no trash bin, the customors are very impatient (Yes i know thats realistic to real retail but still!), the double mouse click time adds up when the time is so short, had to use my touch screen apposed to my touch pad. Really, i feel like everything componds upon itself due to the imbalanced nature. The low time makes it hard to read orders properly outside of a glance, the extra clicks eat into what little time you have, Its easy to make a mistake due to being rushed, and having no trash means you probably just have to give one unlucky soul a hatchama special.
Oh, and it would have been nice to have a "PLay again!" option at the endapposed to being forced to quit
Though, for what its worth, i got 600 points on my second run once i figured out more what i was doing.
