I wish it were longer! but it's really cute. Immaculate vibes, love the changing and the gender and the witchery. Also the paws? the tail wags? oh we're winning.

Very funny and cute. It's a bit cheesy at first, with the transparently obvious setup to the werewolf reveal, but the story is full of charm and humor regardless. I especially loved when Cinch became a smol werewolf. It's also really clever to tie in the werewolf thing with gender dysphoria. The presentation was also lovely and well done, with hand-crafted backgrounds, sprites, and CGs that all weave together seamlessly. If I had to comment on something though, I'd say that the expressions could have used a bit more variation, since Cinch ended up being teary-eyed in some situations that didn't call for it, for example. Still, the resulting story arc is fantastic for such a bite-sized package (heh?). 

Adorable. I think it’s a good, charming read. The writing is quite entertaining if you don’t approach it too seriously, it’s given by the art style anyway. The visual just blends together with the story. Great work!

I love the whimsical storybook quality of your artwork, and especially the creativity of using the coatrack and crystal ball for the aunt later on in the story!  The length and pacing worked well, and everything oozes with charm.  I believe this was even better than your entry last year, which was also quite good.

Awooooooooooo~!

That was super cute.^^ A fun story of love, magic and transformation. The characters are really likeable (Aunty Crystal was very fun) and their dialogue was good. The pace worked well for a short story. The sprites and backgrounds look really nice, they really meld together perfectly. The character designs stand out, I love the long distance Crystal sprite, and wolfy Chang’e is really cute. The music worked fine as well. Overall, really good VN. It feels like those characters could get to more shenanigans…^^

I had a toooon of fun reading this! The characters are cute, the sprites are cute and very full of emotion in their poses and the topic of gender and body fluidity is something I can really relate to. Thank you for this sweet entry! I really enjoyed it <3

'Witchy Werewolf Wives' is an adorable fluffy romance between two ladies who find out that magic is real and they're stuck in the middle of it. It's a nice little story about the importance of open communication and listening and understanding your partner's needs. The art style is cute and adorable, with some really neat drastic shots, that make it feel like you're watching an animatic of a tv cartoon show. There's a few light-hearted humor bits mixed in with all the dramatic relationship stuff, so it doesn't feel like it's overly bogged down.

The set up for the story does feel a little bit random, with a lot of details being explained away, but for this kind of story, I don't think it detracts from it. I think the story attempts to explore more into themes of gender roles, gender expression, and even a bit of gender identity, when the werewolf girlfriend finds that their in the middle of figuring out whether they like the idea of being a big strong wolf, over their current body shape. But, they never really explore the part about not feeling right in their current form, even though there's mirroring with the main character, who gets transformed into a tiny wolf, so in a way the roles reverse in their dynamic. It's an exploration that doesn't fully explore. But, I think the overall message of 'accepting folks no matter how they present themselves as' is a simple and positive one. 

The theme of 'light in the dark' gets shown in a few ways literally, like the fireworks at night or fireflies at night, but figuratively, I don't think that it's expressed in a way that feels integral to the story, since there's not really a 'dark' to contrast all the light-heartedness this story portrays. This story doesn't seem to take any big risks, as most revelations of magic and werewolves are quickly accepted, the ability to cast spells is given as an inherent ability, and the relationship drama is easily resolved. While the story does a give a good job of giving each character good characterization, it's very light on exploring their dynamic prior to this story. We meet the characters right at the mid-proposal, but we don't know all of the girlfriend's traits or insecurities leading up to it. We don't really see why the main character is in love with the girlfriend, just that she is. It doesn't detract from the story, but it does mean that it's very light and surface level.

Overall, it's a very cute read, with very cute visuals, and a very cute message, and if that's all it aimed to be, then it succeeded in that way.

This was really cute! The relationship between the two girls was really cute, and the visuals, including the sprites, animations, and CGs, were a lot of fun. It gives me amare vibes, where it's all warm and fuzzy. Definitely check it out if you want something short and sweet.

I loved this one. I have a couple criticisms here and there, but this was cute, extremely entertaining, and very well executed, especially in terms of presentation.

Working through each criterion, spoilers from this point forward:

Implementation of Theme:

Going to get the biggest knock out of the way early - this was the weakest part for me. I think it's arguable, with Cinch and Chang'e serving as "lights" for each other, but I never felt that there was any particular "darkness" though. The lowest point for either of them in the story is effectively a mildly rough patch in an otherwise loving and fulfilling relationship. I guess you could maybe look at it as the werewolf forms being bodies the characters feel comfortable in, so they're like lights to the darkness of self-doubt? I don't know, that feels like more of a stretch. I think there were other submissions that handled the theme more effectively.

Story:

Very cute. Cinch and Chang'e both felt mostly believable, with the occasional understandable step outside of that to create a fun mix of humor and drama. I liked the overall tone of this one - staying positive and keeping the humor intact really sold that these two cared for each other, even when they were disagreeing. Also like that Chang'e does in fact like the wolf form (preach) and the werewolf's representation of finding a version of yourself that you're most comfortable with.

My one big issue with the story is that I wish Cinch and Chang'e were given a bit more leeway to figure things out for themselves. Auntie Crystal guides them through practically the whole process like a video game tutorial, and I think it would have better supported the theme of the couple learning to communicate if they had to come to some of those conclusions by talking it through with each other rather than like, a subject matter expert.

Presentation:

Awesome! Tons of art for this and all of it was extremely cute. Music did occasionally get repetitive and there were times when I thought some different choices could have fit the mood of the scene better, but it didn't really impede my enjoyment of the VN.

Creativity:

In this jam I've seen a ton of G's and a sprinkling of B's and T's here and there, but I think this is the first L that I've played and I love to see the representation for the lady wolves. There's a lot of fun stuff at play here as well with the magic system, the familial background and curse, and the idea of appropriating what was originally a curse to be something positive that you choose to live with. 

I would absolutely be first in line for that Awoopocalypse wedding. 

Really charming! The story is short and light but not to its detriment, with the character drama feeling just appropriately tense for the overall vibe of the story; both the problems and the resolutions are believable on an emotional level. And the visual style is as good of a match, simple and nice to look at but surprisingly adaptable – in addition to the many excellent visual gags, the VN also pulls off a couple of good horror moments.

For some areas of improvement, the character voices don't maybe feel incredibly distinct on the whole, and more variation with music & sound effects could do a lot to elevate the story even further. But it's very much an engaging, enjoyable read even in this state.

The presentation here is really good! Even what aren't CGs (and there's a whole bunch of those!) feel very dynamic due to how the sprites are made. There's so much effort put into them, with different poses and even ear flicks to give everything extra detail. In terms of sound, I noticed that there's small feedback noises when clicking some buttons which was really neat. I do think the game could have used more than one song playing throughout though. The song is great, but it doesn't fit all of the scenes, so we end up with some dissonance there.

There's nothing particularly negative to say about the writing, but it is quite on the simple side - it tells the story, but with little technical complexity or nuance. Certainly not bad at all, but there is room for using the writing in more interesting ways.

KYAHHH! The novel was so cute and silly! Using werewolf-ism to portray gender euphoria was great and incredibly creative! The art was also charming, and the way the characters moved as well made me giggle in glee. All of this to say, I really enjoyed the novel 🥺

Impressive the effort put into this VN. Glad to finally see queer representation other than gay men honestly.  Could have used more words to help with scene transitions and scenes direction, but told a narrative from start to finish. Glad to see a story focus on wanting to listening to what another person wants rather than someone subjecting their will onto a person.
