Spoiler Alert!
One of the best entries this MayWolf. A heartbreaking story that perhaps only bears a ‘good’ ending in the eyes of one person - the MC. As someone who loves to fantasize about another world a lot (and being with hot furry men but that’s off topic), I kinda relate but to this story but not at the same time (it’s a hard feeling to describe). Using creativity itself as a canvas, perhaps also as a way to hide away from reality, Ilmari step foot into this otherworld, bringing all his values (good or bad) with him. One thing though, for religion to be one of the major plot drivers to the plot, I’d hope that there’s a bit more foreshadowing. It’s not that the religion isn’t relevant enough, but more like MC’s views wasn’t expressed clearly, not until they got intimate that night. Perhaps the core conflict of the story should’ve been fleshed out more, maybe some more clarity with MC’s views could work (or maybe there should be some build up to the intimacy).
Presentation wise, I love the art and the characters. Both the textbox and the NVL one was decorated, and the animation of the wardrobe opening and closing at the start and end really ties things together. The music is good at that credit song hits me like a truck >.<
I interpreted the wardrobe as the ‘Dark’, represented the hidden thoughts and perhaps, the closeted sexuality. ‘Light’ here was probably the catalyst for change, moving on, and out of the wardrobe itself.
P.S Having second thoughts about diving back into my imaginary world now smh. P.P.S Conservative Dad ain’t gonna be conservative anymore if I get my hands on him /j/j
