A creative take on chess gameplay.
Great way to learn the knight move set, immediately though it would be a great way to teach people how to play chess in a piece by piece way.
Could have a level select with like a star system (to say you beat it in the most optimal way) Rather than starting from the start each time.
Would really like to see this as a mobile game.
love it!! puzzles are hard to make, so all the more props to you!! i think i ran into a bug in lev 4 where the bishop and pawn was on the same square. as the other commentor said, top down would have been better than isometric, but otherwise good stuff!
A great spin on chess! I like how your puzzles aren't so easy to figure out. I've seen other remixed chess games where the puzzles are too simple and you immediately know the puzzle from a quick glance at the board.
Some notes I had:
1. Letting player know it's their turn to move
2. Letting player know what valid moves they have. Maybe when it's players turn, you can automatically have the knight raised and then click the valid area it can go to. This might also make it more mobile friendly haha :)
Awesome work!
This is a very cool puzzle game, I love the way you've innovated on such a classic. The game is very polished, but I would love to have a level selection menu. It's very frustrating to have to replay all of the levels I've already beaten just to get another shot at the one I just lost on. I also really like the art, and the feedback for hovering over tiles is nice, but the perspective makes it very difficult to tell when rooks have an open line on you.
100% agree on everything mate. It is my first game and my first jam, so I wanted to approach the jam by doing something different with no youtube tutorials. The isometric point of view is not optimal for a chess game, but I wanted to experiment with it and see how I could handle it. The leveling system is frustrating too, I also had the same frustration you did. A level selection would have been nice, but I had other things to do, so I wrapped it up like it was. Thanks for the feedback!
