Very cute puzzle game! I do like how you only have the two moves to make it - I was so close one level and my ghost ball fell off haha!

Really quite fun and polished gameplay!

I liked the balls behaving differently. Just intuitive-wise I would have thought the normal golf ball (being heavy and physical) being able to push a button/spring over a ghost ball (something I'd expect to may not have physically manifested and potentially rather ignoring real object interactions).

The main menu and ingame option to mute sound is really handy. Just with the ingame burger menu, I clicked it after playing plenty levels already and didn't think it would cancel my progress. I expected it to either ask to return to main menu or in best case open a pause menu, i.e. with just audio sliders or credits or so.

Great idea, fun gameplay and very polished!
Awesome job for 48 hours!

I really liked the realisation of the theme in your case. You ‘fail’ and immediately get another chance with the ghost ball.

At first I also had problems with the controls, because I wanted to set the ‘direction of impact’ of the golf club by dragging the mouse. After a few failed attempts, I realized that you don't control an imaginary golf club but rather the direction from which the ball bounces. After that it went quite well :)

I also like the different characteristics of the balls and that the background moves differently depending on the ball :) Reminded me a lot of the bonus levels from Sonic on the Sega and that earned you sympathy points straight away :D

Nette Idee, aber grauenhafte Steuerung. Ich kam leider nicht übers erste Level hinaus.

Developer

thanks for playing! could you elaborate a little about issues you had with the controls?

Developer

i see! thanks for the details, that'll help me for sure

i've noticed some players struggling with the 'throw sensitivity' a lot, it is clearly hard to master and shouldn't be!

Atmosphäre war das, was mich hier abgeholt hat. Ich war in kleinen Lvl und habe etwas Golf gespielt. Richtig stark, was du da in 2 Tagen erschaffen hast! Mir ist nur nicht ganz klar, wie das zum Thema des Jams passt (vllt seh ich es auch einfach nur nicht, ich wäre für einen Gedankenanstoß auf jeden Fall dankbar :) ) Schöne Arbeit in jedem Fall

Developer

Entschuldigung ich spreche nicht so gut Deutsch! Vielen dank furs spielen!

Now that I played the other games of the jam I can see that I'm a little far off haha. I just answered the comment below regarding my thought process and how the game idea came. Let me know what you think!

🎯 Connection to the jam theme

I didn’t quite understand how the game relates to the jam’s theme...
But honestly, this is one of those times where it doesn’t even matter.

🎮 Gameplay impressions

This is a great game on its own. I enjoyed every level with genuine interest.
I especially liked the changing background direction — it added a nice sense of motion and dynamism.

🎨 Visuals & Art

The art is simple and easy to read. The colors work well together, and nothing breaks the visual consistency.
The physics are clear and intuitive. It was just fun to play!

🖥️ Side note

Why isn’t it in full screeeeeen? 😄
I want fullscreen! Where did you hide my screen resolution? 😄

Best of luck, bro!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for playing! Sorry for the low definition, I didn't organize my UI well and it wasn't responsive enough to fit different resolutions. I forced a lower one just to be 200% safe (I will update the game soon with a browser version where you can go fullscreen :) ).

Regarding the theme, I wanted to try two things:

  • My first idea was to have a simple game divided in two parts: before and after failing. Quickly came the golf idea, where you would play a basic game of golf with only one shot. This meant that if you don't reach the target in one shot you loose, and it's how the ghost ball came into play. And to bring some depth and contrast the two states, I chose to make the first ball very heavy and sticky, and the second one way lighter and bouncy. So the core of the idea was: I play golf but miss the target from a little bit and... it's not over I have another ball!
  • The second thing was that I tried to have a game that feels seamless and that is quick to play and replay - so it feels like never ending.
