Fun and silly. I noticed the same hitbox issues others have mentioned. Found that if I lead it by about half a tile, I’d hit reliably where intended.

Um, where did the 'Green Chair Games' go...?

An interesting little meter-based challenge game, for sure, especially with a running clock!

Notes:

  • There is something wrong with the meter. Lots of times I KNOW xI timed it right with the hitting the chop button on the right colour, but I still got dinged, especially if the part of the log is red; I got hit with the most and worst penalties.  It can be as many as 10 times before a red block would finally get hit.

Very simple, love the easy-to-pickup nature; the timing of the chops is surprisingly tricky. I found myself get unnaturally addicted to this one, hahah.

Well done!

That was really fun! Definitely challenging with the *slight* delay of the chops. In some ways, i liked the challenge of having to get perfect timing, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if it would instantly register my chops to whatever the scrolling bar was touching on the same frame. Loved the vibe of the game presentation. Felt kinda like an old DOS game (from the recorded voice audio) mixed with NES graphics!

I removed the candy tree! Hopefully the children won't know it was me.

I enjoyed the game. It features a perfect gameplay loop you could find on a NES cartridge, I had seen the comments below before playing so I immediately tried to understand how the hitbox works and as soon as I did the game was pretty fun. Finally the difficulty was perfect for me and it took me about the time I wanted to spend of the game to finally beat it which was nice.

Very cool!

Consider yourself reported to all the children in the area, then.  They will all know you made the candy tree disappear.  Their summer of delicious treats is now officially ruined... :(

(This is a parody post, btw.)

The choice of the Lumberjack from Hoodwinked! (2005) is an amazing choice and I'm all for it, and honestly you did great with it. The art and music do very much match the movie. I think the concept is cool but like others, there's issues with the way you do lumbering.

I think the issue is that players have to both press and release the button within the same slider box. Otherwise it just really doesn't like to work (and even then it doesn't like to work much still). Either way, nice go at it.

fairly addicting gameplay once you figure out the hit box is not lined up with the bar that is scrolling.  Nice work

Like the concept here a lot, but it seems like there are hit box issues—sometimes I'll hit a color and it won't work (I'll get the penalty as if I hit the wrong color), but when the slider returns over that color and I hit, it'll work as expected. Your art and audio are so much fun here, that I hope you get a chance to look into the issue and correct it after the jam. Thanks for making and sharing your game!

I agree, when I'm not so busy with work I'll edit it as I don't think that counts now that the jam is done.
