Hell yeah the production and synth choices and so sick, this sounds so professional, UGH that guitar in Facing the Astral Rift. Your sense of rhythm is really good, great work!
Looking at your DAW screenshots always scares me lol. It's always clear that you put a lot of effort in your work and it definitely pays off everytime! Amazing tracks, i personally liked the second one a lot
Nicely done, I though Astral Rift was pretty intense and then I read its only the Exploration track it could probably sit well as a combat track too. I feel like nerfing you from going over 5 mins paid a bit, everything feels even more crisp than your other tracks before, with all the small sound design details you put everywhere it shows. I have to agree for combat track the rythmic section and the guitars is very Mick Gordon this time, can't blame it I kinda did the same, I was probably expecting the combat to be even more intense since the Navigation track is already up there, but it still works. With a real guitar what would probably be even more crazy. Still think Navigating the Astral Rift is one of your best work the composition, the structure, the sound design and the perfect loop, well done.
Hearing your submissions always makes me feel I should go learn to properly do sound design and production.. 🤣
Great work as always!
I got some pretty strong Mick Gordon vibes from Facing the Astral Riff, I just don't understand how you make things this crispy like holy hell.
I definitely could use some mentoring mentoring of yours with sound design. These sounds and the general mix are just tight! The ear candys are just put together like by a crazy mastermind and just enhances everything that is already top notch and full of energy. Specially the bass in Navigating the Astral Rift made it for me. It sounds so damn dark but also percussive and assertive, I’m a bit in love. I kind of can only stand in awe and quite frankly also a bit envious and applaud your great work. I hope you will make an album of this, cuz I’m certainly gonna by it.
Well, Nova, to me these tracks are the masterpieces of sound design in this jam. Huge bravo to you! 'Navigating the Astral Rift' is truly what I love about this style.
If I may offer my opinion just on the mastering (the mix is great): it seems a little too 'crushed.' Loosening up your compressors/limiters a bit, even if you lose a little loudness, would allow you to gain some spatialization and get back a bit of 'air' (headroom/dynamic range).
Maybe you should stick with K14 ;)
Congrats again, I'm going to give it another listen right now!
I had to look up K14 because I didn't know that was the name of a mixing/mastering standard, so I was a tad confused for a second lol.
You're totally right about the loudness and bad crispiness, as after listening to all the other jam tracks (yours included) I swung the pendulum too far in the other direction when mastering and I definitely didn't have to go so hard on the clipper and limiter. I find my setup tends to push me towards an overwhelming high and mid bubble as-is, and it's been a pain getting my ears to go back to hearing less of that and more bass as a "good mix" if that makes sense. Thank you for the feedback, I will take a gander at that technique and try to incorporate it next time! :)
I really love the atmosphere of the tracks, it feels so "full" and clear. Also very neat percussion and sfx.
Even with the synths, the exploration track with the "grainy" motif 2 feels like it could be a scary situation in some mysterious foggy forest. This track definitely sparks imagination, sick tracks!!
Between you, Twitchy, and Fox/Ty/Slaya, I feel like I'm in a damned movie theater.
This is amazing.
