Very cool game! Love the reference to the artist inspiration at the end!
How did you achieve the stippled/noise effect? Was it done using a shader?
Awesome entry!
Thank you for the kind words!
Yes, the dithering is done with a “hard light” shader and a blue noise texture. It’s a bit much to share here, but let me know and I could send you the code.
It looks great, minimalistically as well as orthogonally. It feels fun to play, and there even is a Rodchenko quote. Congrats!
I was delighted when I found this quote. Thanks for noticing!
Nice entry! I really like the art style.
Thanks!
Amazing game! I love the visuals, and the gameplay was very rewarding :)
Thank you very much!
Excellent job! Very well made and super polished
Thank you!
Definitely my favorite game I've seen in the jam visually, and I think there were a lot of cool concepts used with the whistling and verticality
Thank you for the kind words!
I remember seeing this during dev in the discord. The visuals are excellent and the mechanics are simple to pick up and understand. It could have been a bit more challenging but it can be really difficult to make something challenging in a week that's easy for people to pick up and play.
The end of level transitions are really nice too. Great work!
Thanks! I agree about the difficulty, but my last jam entry did poorly because judges gave up before seeing most of the content. I went in the opposite direction here.
I am also very pleased with the level transitions. It's just a rotating sprite, but it looks nice.
Absolutely. It's better to dial down the difficulty so people can get a more complete impression of your game. That rotating sprite is doing great work :D.
Nice little game.
I like when simple shapes/models can lead to very nice graphics (Chants of Sennaar style). :)
Thanks! In my case, laziness + nice colours = "stylization"!
Elegant on every aspect: gameplay, graphics, audio...
I found a weird bug in the final level: if you step off the slope into the water, you can somehow float above it. I guess Jesus really wanted that yellow square.
Whoops! Let's say it's a feature, not a bug
The style is great. Short and sweet but deceptively simple. Good work!
Thank you!
Very unique aesthetics, I liked it !
Thank you!
i think the command are strange to the start but after a little bit are easy
I'm glad you figured them out!
Unique game! Fun to complete
Thank you!
The enemy AI was pretty cool, much better than mine lol. Good job on the entry!
Thank you! The AI was a simple state machine with only four states: PATROL, CHASE, SEARCH, RETURN (to patrol). It gives the guards a bit of personality and can lead to some interesting behaviours when there is more than one guard.
Such striking visuals! The way the vision cones were impacted by the terrain looked great
Thanks! That took the most work. The vision cones are custom meshes (triangle fans) with their endpoints determined by raycasting. It took forever to get this working.
"Two guards? In this economy?!" hehe
What the others have said bears repeating, really nicely done - polished, professional looking, stylish, and the core game loop is solid.
Thanks for the kind words!
Amazing! By far the best game Ive played in the jam. My only problem would be that the music feels more like fantasy legend of zelda music, which conflicts with the games jazz feel.
Thanks for the comments! As it happens, both the art and the music are inspired by the Russian avant-garde from the 1920s. It was an eclectic movement!
Great game and great music should be turned to a full version really enjoyed it !!
Thank you!
I really enjoyed this one. Everything fit together very well and I like the overall concept. Great work.
Thank you for the kind words!
Simple yet incredible constructed, the variety of ideas made it pretty smooth to play, congrats
Thank you!
