Neat idea! I gave up on the level that seemed to need a full power leap to get to the end, but I kept coming up short.
The trick for that level is to hang the slime off, so that there's just like 1 pixel touching the platform, and then if you just jump and hold D you should be able to make it to the other side.
Hey, congrats on your first ever game and this is especially impressive given you only started godot the day before the jam!
Your mechanic was implemented well and levels stayed interesting, game felt pretty polished. With some more visual and graphical updates, this would be great. Don't be too hard on yourself, this is very impressive!
Would be cool to see the intended ending in an update after the jam.
So am I right in assuming the cool ending was destroying my keyboard in a fit of rage? :D JK although it sure wasn't easy (and yes I did get to the end). I really appreciate the ah crap I'm out of time, I was pretty much in the same boat :)
Yeah, this game was kind of a disaster lol. Like a lot of stuff broke and I had to take it out of the game last second, including the ending which was a shame.
Very nice idea, love having to "light" the way.
Maybe you want to map the controls with "physical" keys next time (so users on non-US keyboards can play "normally"). ;)
Nice work! The light mechanic was really cool! I did find some of the head-bonking jumps a bit frustrating, I think adding variable jump heights and coyote time would make the platforming feel a lot more satisfying. Still, the light mechanic was really good, it was fun to discover the level each time.
The concept is cool! Am now invested in getting Slimey to Slimette :) cute idea.
