Think I forgot to comment when I first played this but I loved the vibes of this game and the usage of the shadows as a gameplay mechanic was really cool and honestly quite well done. It felt super unique and the atmosphere was great!
These little creatures are cute. The sound are good, too. The x button (on the F/X saying stuff) doesn't work (only F works).
Thanks a lot for your comment!
Well it's the X button on (some) game controllers. Sure that part should be a bit clearer. :/
Really liked the music and the overall vibe. Very polished. Good idea that you can only use jump when you're in the dark. Nice job!
Many thanks for your feedback :)
I loved the concept, and the polish was top notch!
The gameplay was really fun when it involved figuring out how to arrange shadows. I liked including platforming as part of the gameplay, but the character control and camera movement made it difficult for me to position myself well to make the required jump.
The use of light and shadow works extremely well as aesthetic and mechanic, and I had a lot of fun with it. It did seem like the final (?) area with the orb had bugged shadows, though, because I died multiple times despite being rendered in shadow.
Really great job, overall! Had a blast.
Ho wow! Thank you very much and congrats on reaching the end level :D Yeah it was kind of a bummer this shadow bug (not the only one by the way ^^). We only figured out what was the problem a little later after submission (see: debug for post-jam release ). I think we overshoot the quantity of content, we may should have build less levels and try to fix bugs earlier, but that's easier said than done ^^'
Anyway thanks again you for your feedbacks and for playing :)
Holy crap the music! Sounds like classic Halo stuff. Kudos to the composer.
Oh, and the game is great too ;)
Thank you so much for your kind words :)
Sadly I couldn't get past the title screen. The game just froze and didn't do anything else. I really would have liked to play your game.
Did you download a native build?
The Web version takes a long time when clicking Start. 😊
Who would have thought chasing shadows and dodging monsters as a cute snail can be that much fun? Very cool entry, mesmerizingly atmospheric. Though I ran into some issues with 3d camera and cursor confinement, I absolutely am a fan of this.
The visuals are nice with some cute critter designs. Sticking to the shadows is a really nice idea and tying it to mechanics was really cool and easy to understand. It's a really nice world you've got, reminds me of the platformers I used to play back in the day :).
I had some issues where I thought I was in shadow but was starting to take damage, it would have also been nice to have an visual effect/sound when the state of being in shadow changes. I know the damage effect starts to show but to really drive home that state changing. That might just be me though.
Thanks for testing our game. 😊
The quickest sign of being in light is that you're slowed down. But yeah, I guess this needs even more feedback.
I enjoyed playing as a cute slug trying to save his friends 🥹 unfortunately I couldn't jump on some platforms because of skill issue and I kept clipping out. Was also not sure what F/X meant on the light switches(?) because only F worked when I tried 🤔 I really enjoyed it though
Thanks a lot for your comment!
X is for controllers (but probably not all). We have to improve this...
Cute! Unfortunately I was having a difficult time seeing what shadows were safe to step in because at some points it kinda blended together. However, I absolutely love this concept! This could be staple comfort puzzle game a little more flesh out
Thanks a lot for testing our game.
You can step in the light (and will have to if you want to finish the game), but you'll have to evaluate the risk.
I’ll be honest, at the start, I wasn’t totally sure what I was supposed to be doing or looking for. Once I figured it out, though, I really started enjoying this game! Love the use of shadow and light to navigate the levels and I really liked how each level wasn’t just a single scene (that loaded from one to the other), but seemed all part of one single environment (at least as far as I got with the game).
Can I also add how much I love the little creature voices and dance move? Put a smile on my face every time! One thought I has was that it would have been cool if there was a button I could press that just made my creature dance and sing. When I rescued one of my fellow creatures, they started dancing and I kinda felt sad I couldn’t press something to join in with them. I realize this is very silly, and has no mechanical use in the game, but I would have loved something like this!
I only made it to the third puzzle, sadly, but over all, from what I did see, I really liked the game! The puzzles were solid, the main creatures were very fun, and the aesthetics all around were on point!
Excellent game! Here’s my stream of the game, for your enjoyment or torture, lol!
Thanks a lot for streaming our game and for your comment. It's always nice to see gamers have fun with our games.
The "dance" button is definitely a good idea, and maybe it could be part of the gameplay (or at least funny achievements?) when we continue developing the game. And yeah, those little songs are cute, our composer and sound designer loves funny songs ( remember drunk pirates? :D ).
The third puzzle is not that tricky, it was supposed to show you don't want to always get a perfect solution where you avoid all damage. Just place the block near the next room and run. ;)
And watching your stream was about enjoyment, definitely. :)
Thank you so much for your feedback and your stream !
Really nice atmosphere in this game. It was nice exploring and trying to figure out how to get everywhere.
Nice game! I loved the audio cues as well as the characters :)
Really liked the surreal atmosphere and overall game idea. The character felt memorable and I like how you even animated waiting times with a little dance. The game played smooth even with the web version, despite the flickering bug that was mentioned by others. Nice work!
Very cool idea :D
Making a 3d game is not an easy task, but you guys did very well.
I had fun playing and managed to rescue a few friends ^^
I felt like solid snail in mucus gear solid :D
Great game.
Super interesting idea, and the environment and characters were really nice. I had some issues with flashing lights, it might be good to add a warning about this to the description. Overall really cool, excited to see what comes together post-jam :)
Thank you very much for playing !
You right for the flashing lights, it's part of a bug we are trying to fix for the post-jam release and should not be part of the game, but still we should have thought about it. Thanks' :)
This was a very charming game with a lot of content! Nicely done! I liked how cute it was and the little chittery noises the slugs make.
This was a neat idea. I liked that rescuing your friends reduced the lighting to encourage looking around if you are having trouble advancing and might have missed one. While moving the camera the shadows changed, making it harder to be sure I was in the shadows, which made timing jumps a bit annoying. At first I thought there were input issues before realizing I could only jump when in shadows. I was playing the web version, so the lighting issues may be from that.
Thanks a lot for testing our game!
There are indeed a few tricky issues regarding lighting and shadows, and I'm investigating them for a post jam release.
Probably just my machine but the shadows keep flickering making things tough. The sound design is nice and even a little creepy.
Thanks for testing our game!
There's actually flickering, but it should not happen that often. I'm investigating it for a post jam release.
really cool mechanic, don't think i've played a game with some similar before
