you nailed the controls imo and the pixelart and colorpalette is beautyful. short but fun :D
Great game.
Short and sweet! Graphics were minimalistic but really contributed to the vibe and the movements feel good. I liked how the shuriken was done, aiming and shooting felt intuitive. Impressive to have added themes to the graphics in such short amount of time too! Great job!
Cool game really liked the graphics and style of it. I liked having to sneak around and take out enemies, but once I got the shuriken I didn't have to worry about melee anymore. Maybe you only get one shuriken, and you have to retrieve it off a body to use it again? Lot's of potential with this one though!
Really cool game, the rain effect and graphics were great
This is so cool! I love the art and all the animations, it felt so good to hit a guard and have them explode in sparks every time. If you keep working on this I hope you add lots of cool movement, I really wanted to dash/wall jump/slide, and to do cool ninja stuff like jumping while throwing shuriken (which you can do but is unnecessary), or teleporting behind enemies, or sliding under bullets to dodge them. I had a lot of fun, awesome work!
Thanks so much! I'd planned for a lot more cool ninja stuff but ran out of time! You can deflect/destroy their projectiles in the air, but there is very little reason / set up to do it in.
If i carry the project on afterwards, which is seeming likely at this point, i'd really love to add elements of what you've mentioned in.
Thanks for trying it!
I loved it! The opening sentence reminded me of dexter ("tonight's the night"). I love how you also have a more brutal approach available where you can try and get the guards before they see you. If you expand it later, I hope you add more of a story!
Very cool game and style, liked it a lot!
This was fun. The art fit the atmosphere really well.
This game is great but some things would do it wonders. I'd suggest adding a couple of things to improve game feel:
-hitstop
-cayote time
-early jump
-remove ledges(very immersion breaking when the character is one leg in the air)
overall this game would be amazing on full release with a couple tweaks
the color pallete and theme is amazing!! i would REALLY LOVE to play a full release version!!! keep up the good work!!
Finally a stealth entry that gets the satisfaction of backstabbing right. Good art direction. Would have preferred it if shurikens were a limited resource or a fall back sort of mechanism to keep with the assassin theme.
Okay. Quite a simple level with a nice 1 bit art. The controls is funky for me with the shiruken. I cannot throw and run which is a bummer for me. A bit more intercate levels would be very nice.
The art is amazing and it was super fun to play. Sadly I often fell down the gaps even though I pressed the jump button. And I'm still curious about the story. What was supposed to 'end tonight'.
Love the limited color palette! Pretty barebones as far as stealth platformers go, but stylistically cool and a good start. Nice work!
This was quite fun, I loved the art style, animations and environments.
A cool touch might be to add a timer/score at the end, I wanted to play again to see how fast I could get through. And unlocking different themes / difficulty levels based on your time. Also--pacifist run? :)
Nice job!
Appreciate the kind words and feedback!
A time trial version was on the cards to be put in if I had the time, but I really love the idea of a pacifist run / unlocking the themes!
I really love idea and the pixel art style, but I had also massive problems with the controls as left handed person. walking and jumping with one hand and attacking with the mouse was really tricky. While I soon figured out, that I can attack with shift, aiming with shuriken was then only possible with the mouse again.
Thanks for trying it out and the helpful feedback.
Aiming with the keyboard is something I'd hopefully like to tackle in a future update. What would your preferred way of aiming/control scheme be as a left handed player?
I think playing with the mouse is good, changing keybindings would be cool and would make things easier, in such games I usually have jump on ctrl or shift, something close to the arrow keys
Noted! Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into keybindings/keep left handed in mind for future projects.
Very nice! I love the pixel art on the player and the guards.
Excellent job. Two things though. I kept falling off ledges when I felt like I was hitting the jump button in time. If this game has coyote time it need to last longer and if it doesn't it needs it. Also could really use more audio feedback.
The whole vibe you are going here for is perfection.
Very nice. I love the art style, reminded me of Canabalt. And it felt great to play! Would love to see more (and with some SFX ;)), great start, especially for a short jam!
