Good job making this game

I really like the concept. I wanted to turn left or right. I think players are used to seeing a radar and being able to turn their player character to see the pings  but seems you can't do that. That probably led to my confusion. I also wasn't able to figure out how to scan things(tried turning my lights up to scan things that were too far away).  Good job on the look/feel/sound. I think there's some potential in the gameplay as well! Good job! Keep making games!

Developer

Thank you! Yes I undertand that very well, I also thought about adding some sort of rotation but time was not on my side for that.

As a fan of underwater games such as Subnautica, I REALLY resonated with this game! I love how the creature design looks. The sound design of the deep water atmosphere and how panic-inducing it is being attacked by something underwater!

I also like how you have to balance your power usage as well but right now it's way too merciful, that's great but maybe add a harder difficulty where the power barely generates and make it that the dark poses more danger because I find just going down with minimal lighting was enough!

I like fish, so this is great!

Developer

Really glad that you enjoyed it! Yes you are right, with not much lighting it is pretty easy (especially when getting the upgrades), so a harder difficult or something would be a nice idea, yes 🤔👌

Love the creature designs, I found the controls a little confusing at first but I slowly got the hang of it. The sound design is really effective at making you feel like you're thousands of feet underwater!

Developer

Thank you for playing! And yes, I get that with the controls :D

This is really cool I've always wanted to make a game like this, the UI and sound is great, but couple of parts of this game are slow. I also spent a while scanning before dying so I didn't realize I would be able to buy upgrades initially to speed things up because I thought I would have to start over. The scanning feels very slow and having to do it repeatedly felt like a checklist to do just to fill time, I would recommend maybe making it a mini game and speeding it up, because you also have to wait or move to get to new fish to scan as well and that can make the game monotonous. Aside from the that this game feels very well made much more substantial than I would have expected from a one week jam.

Developer

Hi, thanks for playing! Yes I do understand that point a lot and actually set for myself, that in the next Jam I am going to concetrate on fun gameplay first and then build around that more than the other way around.  I do think the slow pace in general matches well with the theme and ocean but still could have increased the fun with more gameplay elements, yes!

This needs more attention, the interface is amazing, so is the concept, i hope you continue the development of this game!

Developer

Thank you so much!
Maybe in the future a bit differently, I feel like I would like to give the player more options then just moving up and down, but an ocean game is definitely on my todo list!
