I was stuck at the start, but after understanding how the game works, I really enjoyed it! Visually very pleasing, simple but fun !

Submitted

Good pixelart, good idea, good gameplay.

Nice game with an appealing simplistic art style, could've done with an extra key just for shooting but cool nonetheless.

Submitted

really cute and fun to play but some weapons were really complicated to use and having the throw item and shoot on the same key didnt help but overall it was nice to play

Really interesting minigame

Very original job and art style, nice game

There's a lot to like here and I'd like another try at it. I'm stuck pretty early in... I have a fire, bow, axe, a rock and a... thing? I think the fact that I can't figure out what the thing is, is the reason I can't figure out what to do next.

Any tips?

Developer

Thank you for playing! After mining a rock with a pickaxe, you’ll get stone and copper. You can combine stone and a campfire to craft a furnace, and then smelt copper in it to make armor. Sometimes items overlap and prevent interaction due to a bug, so try moving other items away and then interact again. There are more fun interactions waiting for you—give them a try! Thanks again!

Loved the idea, very nice art style.

Developer

Thank you for playing! The art style was inspired by doodles I used to draw in my notebook back in high school. I’m not very talented in art, so I tried to keep it simple but still interesting. Thanks again!

creative, fun with a cool artstyle and decent music, really like it!

Developer

Thank you for playing! It always feels great to receive positive feedback. Thank you so much!

a very creative entry! I love the music, SFX, and art, they're all really good.

The game seemingly bugged? when the cog spawned. nothing would progress me, so i quit. Shame, because i was having a decent time.

The way that held objects just have to be thrown at everything is kinda weird, especially the pickaxe. I kinda wish you had a "use" button for them.

overall though pretty good!

Developer

Thank you for playing! You can combine the gear with a bow to craft a crossbow. There’s a known bug where crafting doesn’t work well near furniture, so please try placing just the two items in an empty space. Also, throwing items to use them wasn’t actually intended—the collision only trigger when the impact speed is above a certain threshold. That’s why, for example, if you run into a rock while holding a pickaxe, it gets mined. The same goes for trees. I realize many parts of the game aren’t well explained. Thanks for the valuable feedback!

I really liked the particle effects, they helped a lot with visual feedback. Creative interpretation of the theme too :)

Developer

Honestly, I didn’t have the skills to create particle effects, so, I created the effects myself using simple code and sprites. However, it ended up fitting well with the simple art style, creating a nice synergy. Thank you for playing!

Very nice game, I died right at the end (I think). The gameplay was often confusing not letting me combin and 2 times only worked after I shot at the thing. The visuals are great and I love the concept. Would have maybe like the screen to be a little bigger though.

Overall nice game, thanks for making it

Developer

Thanks for playing! There is a known bug where crafting doesn’t work properly near furniture.  It seems the lack of guidance on the game progression was a common feedback, and I apologize for that. Adjusting the screen size is always a challenge. Some players mentioned that the screen feels too large. For future games, I’ll consider implementing flexible screen sizes. Thank you very much for playing!

This was pretty cool. It took a minute to understand but then it became clear. What contributed to the confusion that you’d often have to try throwing something several times before it actually works. But a very creative and original idea that is well executed and clean. Good job.

Developer

Thanks for playing! The issue with crafting not working properly near furniture seems to have caused some confusion, and the lack of tutorials didn’t help either. Thank you very much for the valuable feedback.

What a nice small game. I really love the idea and how its implemented. Like when you start the game youre like "???" and when you keep playing around youre like AH and then you suddenly know how it works. Very nicely done!

Developer

Thanks for playing ! Since I had to do the playtesting in such a short amount of time, I ended up assuming players would approach the game the same way I did. I’ve always enjoyed simple and intuitive games, and with this one, I hoped players could also experience that kind of raw, straightforward fun. Thanks again!

I really like the minimalist visuals of the game! I never thought you could make a variety of objects with simple pixel sprites. Music and sfx fit the game well too.

Gameplay was a bit confusing to me. In the first scene with the computer, I was a bit confused about what to do until I pressed E. It might be a good idea to show the controls in that scene and put them away after a few seconds or in the next stage. I was also a bit lost in the early game with the tree but once I figured it out, the subsequent stages were easier to finish. Some games add hints when the player is stuck at a particular point for too long, so that might be something to consider especially when you have player like me who is a bit slow and appreciate some guidance occasionally haha.

I have some trouble fighting the spear enemy too. The map is small and because my reflex is so slow, I wasn't able to maneuver and fire my arrow fast enough to kill him. And when I died, needing to start all over again does disappoint me. I wish we had a choice to start from the first stage or go back to the previous stage. Then again, for context, I don't tend to play games that requires reflex and real-time action so that fact colors how I view the gameplay; most people probably won't have the problems I have.

Though, I am intrigued by the concept. The game oddly enough reminds me of those minimalist/incremental games where you start out simple but opens up gradually until it becomes more and more epic and grandiose. I really liked having that feeling when I play your game.

Thank you very much for making and sharing your game.

Thank you for the thoughtful playthrough and feedback. It seems the most common point brought up is how the game guides the player’s actions — and I completely agree. After playing my own game dozens of times, I stopped questioning the controls or the flow, and just assumed they were intuitive. As for the combat, I was actually worried it might be too easy, but maybe that’s just because I’ve become too used to the game myself. Once again, thank you so much for playing.

No worries.

True, it’s very common for us game devs to assume things are intuitive partly because we have inside knowledge on the game. I read the book ‘The Design of Everyday Things’ and one important point in it is most if not all designers, game devs or not, experience the same challenge as well: the model in the designer’s head is not the same as the user of the product.

Then again, I guess commercial games have the advantage of being play tested before released to the public while we don’t have that same luxury lol. It’s only after we submit our game that we would receive feedback unless we share it with someone else before submission.

Sorry, that’s just me rambling.

I hope you’ll keep up making games and have fun along the way.

I LOVE the style, really! but i would like to point out that your game window size is too big, make it a little smaller please. it was a lot of fun, but the combat is too hard.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing. The slightly oversized screen was intentional — since the actual playable area is only the vertical center with the sides cut off, I was worried that if I made it smaller, players wouldn’t be able to see clearly. But looking back, I may have gone a bit overboard with that. As for the combat difficulty, that’s definitely a common piece of feedback, and I agree it’s something I need to fix. Thanks again for taking the time to play!

no need to thank, thanks for your answer and for your game!

Its a very good little game, with nice graphics and sound, the controls were nice to use, and after the first few interactions, everything was straightforward

Developer

Thank you for playing. I’ve always preferred games that are simple and intuitive, and I think that naturally influenced the way I designed this one. I really appreciate you taking the time to play and enjoy it!

This game was so charming and fun! Such a simple game visually, yet very intuitive and easy to get! Loved the experience!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I’m glad to hear you had a good time. I really appreciate you playing the game.

I really loved the idea! The art and music also took it away. I was a bit confused at first so I just played with the physics of the tree stump untill it worked. Kinda funny how I could just play with the games physics to have fun. Anyways, Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I’ve always liked simple games that you can just have fun with. Maybe the game lacked a proper tutorial or enough explanation. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback! I tried to add as many interesting interactions as possible, but I ran out of time. I agree—a timed defense stage would definitely make things more exciting. An alien shows up in the final stage, so I hope you’ll play through to the end. Thanks again
