Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
Little Light is about giving and taking. We believe that 'Generosity' comes from a choice, just as 'Light' needs 'Dark' to exist, 'Giving' requires 'Taking'. Throughout the game, the player needs to make the choice of whether to give, or to take. The game spins a narrative based on these actions done by the player, leading to the end. At the end of the game, the player will always 'die.' Though facing death, it is the many others they have saved with their generosity that will be the ones to save them in the end.

great aesthetic and the sfx really draw you into the atmosphere. I'm not sure how to defend against the fish and the feedback from input to the player acting upon it does have a strange inconsistent delay (i.e. lantern, shield).

Would love to see more of this!

Starting a game without a title screen or tutorial may be disorienting, though one quickly regains composure. The shield is made of a heavy material which is not easily manipulated, that or the character possesses little strength. The time between input and action appears slightly inconsistent. Sometimes lowering your lamp is immediate, other times you must wait for a short duration first.

Foregoing the lack of strength, it’s easy to allow the dark colors wash over oneself and become immersed in this strange world. You may even encounter adorable creatures…

This game has an incredible aesthetic! I love getting to travel through the dark woods with only the glow from your lantern, finding little pockets of light and collecting them. The gimmick of also taking and giving light from the small villages was also very neat, really demonstrating the theme of generosity there. I was a bit confused what I was meant to do about the fish enemies since I could only parry them which allowed me to escape from them, I think that part could have been a bit more clear at the start. And echoing what the other comment said, I think some eerie music would have helped the atmosphere a lot. Aside from that, it was a fun playing experience and a great concept! Kudos to your team!

The models are really really nice. I like the little village and the premise of getting the little creatures more light. Traversing the dark was cool and the over aesthetic reminded me of Outer Wilds, especially because of the angler fish. I had a good time with this game but I have a few suggestions of what I think could make this great game even better! I think that things could be laid out clearer. Some of the buttons didn't work or took a little bit of experimentation to understand their function, and I'm not sure what the point of the shield was. The dark atmosphere, while cool, made it hard to know what the goal was or to locate light. Some music or SFX could have gone a long way as well. I am not 100% sure what the end goal is or if there is even supposed to be one but this feels like the framework for a really killer project!

Good job guys! I liked what I've played so far!

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! I am the artist, I am very glad you like the models. The shield is suppose to stun the fish away. Maybe you can try it out when you have free time.

Thanks for playing.

Yes of course! I tried to use the shield against the fish but when i did it treated me as if I hadn't and I died. I will definitely try it again if I get the chance to!
