The boss room was reliably bugged for me, else I might have given it a couple more shots. Though I would say, for a first boss, it feels like this one has too many moves, somehow, there is no simple formula to approach the fight.
I am an utter shitter at dodge roll games though and don’t enjoy them particularly much, so it may be safe to discard my opinion on this. In fact I think people who enjoy rolling may feel right at home.
Aesthetics and sound are nice feeling very faithfully GBC/GBA.
I had some "shoot a heart" ranged weapon and it didn’t seem to work. The heart decorations standing around were confusing to me, I kept thinking there must be a way to gain HP from them?
Overall seems like a solid concept and solid execution.
I have looked into the stream and it seems that enemies have shorter jump arcs than they are supposed to have (and this extends to the boss cutscene). I have added new code that sets the VSync to 0 which should hopefully address this.
Heart shaped decorations are there to signify the game's main boss and have no relation to HP or the Heart Card item.
Was this on Casual Mode after retrying the Labyrinth? Did the boss jump from the usual spot to the spot in your picture? I will need a few more details so I can try and recreate this one.
I never died, when I reach this cutscene at level 5, nothing happen, I press all buttons and they do nothing, but the music still plays in the background.

keys seem important but i have to open the menu to see how many i have
chests have keyholes but they don't use keys but the darker ones don't open all the time like the light ones so i thought i needed a key
rooms where i find a key are marked with a key for some reason but rooms with locked doors aren't marked at all
golden compass never appeared in my inventory and never showed anything on the map
every time i got to the white rabbit man the game would break and id be offscreen but after a while id appear back onscreen, never killed him though
health items heal whole numbers and enemies deal whole numbers of damage but the healthbar is a tiny non-segmented bar for some reason
7.1/10
