Really great model and character design. Love the dog and wished he played a larger role in the demo. Didn't see him after I went into the cave :( .
I think your art, artstyle, and animations are great. The gameplay itself still needs a lot of work and I encountered a lot of bugs. I'll list them alongside some feedback below.
-The auto reloading on the Kindle Killer doesn't start until I run out of ammo and am not clicking to shoot. When it is reloading I can still shoot and the reload and fire rate are seemingly equivalent. This means if I allow the auto-reload to start I can just fire indefinitely without worrying about hitting '0' and can go through all my reserves never needing to stop clicking. Not sure how you'd change this. Maybe have the gun always auto-reload and be a bit slower than it is now?
-Kindle Killer charge attack seems to use the same animation on-hit as the regular attack? Not sure. Only difference seems to be screen shake which doesn't feel like a good enough visual pay-off.
-At the exit of the cave I could see the shadows of some stuff through the walls. Not sure if this is intentional or not.
-While fighting the turret enemy, at some point, the UI for the Kindle Killer (ammo count) completely disappeared. Not sure why or when it happened.
-When aiming I can only press shift to dodge forward. Would be nice if you could dodge left, right, and back while aiming your gun.
-While fighting the enemy inside the facility (the one that throws grenades every so often) I got hit into a wall and stopped being able to do anything but swap weapons. It wasn't till I was hit again that I could move freely.
-If I press ESC to pause the game, alt tab out, alt tab back in, and try to hover over "continue" nothing will happen (text does not highlight and cannot be clicked to unpause) and I have to press ESC instead to unpause the game.
-It would be nice if holding jump on its own, without pressing it again, also allowed you to hover.
-I accidentally fell through the bottomless pit in the building and there was no killzone to put the player back where I jumped from or force me to restart from a checkpoint or the beginning of the level. Just kept falling and had to quit out of the game.
-The pause menu is really charming, but I think it should be more responsive and not rely on the rat to reach the text for you to click one of the options. (Also at one point it bugged out on me and the rat wouldn't move at all so I couldn't select the text. Not sure why this happened; it was at the very start of the game after confirming my choices for the character's look.)
Hope you don't take this too harshly. There's a lot to be fixed and improved upon, but I'm excited to see how the game grows by next Demo Day. Your character designs are really cute! Also really enjoyed sliding being in the game. I don't know if I've ever encountered a game where being able to slide down slopes like that isn't fun.
