FANTASTIC first jam. The puzzle element was intriguing. The metroidvania aspect of opening closed paths as you progress was well done.
T hank you very much.
Fun little puzzle game, I think the protagonists remarks after each book might give a little too much away with the puzzles, which made them pretty easy.
I like the vibes and atmosphere and the writing was top notch.
Great work.
Thanks. Yeah, I'm a big puzzle fan but decided to make sure that most people would be able to complete it. So Yeah, it's very easy, also to my taste :)
Congrats on your first GWJ entry! :)
The puzzles weren't too hard to solve despite me getting a bit turned around at times. (I just have a bad sense of direction). There were a few times where I wondered if I already solved a puzzle or not before wandering around and seeing something different.
I feel like the game could really benefit from a sound effect and/or a visual indicator playing after each riddle gets solved.
Thanks. I agree. But I didn't have the time. But I actually decided yesterday to improve upon the game after the jam and see what another few weeks or a month can do for the game. If not anything gameplay wise it'll a good thing for learning even more.
Aside from lower left I was able to figure out the puzzles without too much difficulty. The book riddles were thankfully not hard to decipher. In general I think repressing the key to show something should hide it. Opening the books seem to darken the screen a little, but it adds on top of every you press a book key before closing turning the rest of the screen black; when I tried to close a book by repressing the F key I thought I was activating a screen darkening function for a moment. Great job for a first game!
Thanks for the feedback. I completely agree. It was a known bug, even when I released the game. I just didn't have the time to fix it. Rehitting the button really should close it.
Fun! :) Always love a good puzzle
Thanks.
I loved the soundtrack, it really fit the dark eerie vibe of the library. I really enjoyed playing the puzzles, it was a lot of fun. And the story is really interesting and unique! I think the game could maybe use some dark and eerie lighting and maybe some different art. But overall great game! Had a lot of fun. (this is my first jam too!)
Thanks. Lighting is not something I've dabbled in before, but for sure, it would be great for the game...for next game, I guess :)
Hey! Would you wanna try out my game? Maybe give it some feedback and a rating?
Sure. Will do. Need to get to a computer first, though.
Thanks a lot!
Good job on your first game. The progression of the puzzles worked well I think it might have been nice if there was a little more of a clue when something changed, maybe a sound effect or similar, but it wasn't too difficult to simply explore to see what happened. All and all, this was fun.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree. But I ran out of time, so no sound effects. i'd have loved have spoken dialogue too...
I was unable to progress because I could not reread the pages by using the F keys. Other than that it's an interesting way to interpret the game jam's theme!
Thanks for the comment. I get the point. Noted for future reference. Wont rely on F keys. Good point.
