Newbie

Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
Out of all the people in this world, all the people who devoted themselves to greatness, YOU, a complete nobody (in the game), are the chosen one... and when everyone is supposed to support you... they rebel instead. Can you stop Sangahn's evil reign of ice while staying the chosen one?
So uh.. you gonna stand there and let the realm perish in ice..? Go on, just get started!!

Love the concept, was a bit confused on controls but i love battle Royale / arena fighters! Def keep working on the controls and understanding the economy aspect. Also some indicator as to which character your playing as would be helpful I was confused as to whom i was controlling and died very quickly thinking I had won haha!

Tysm! This version of the game won't be worked on any further, as I want to keep it as the Jam Version, but I have a version of this game on Newgrounds, which is currently receiving updates. Though I will consider adding a player indicator some time soon... Thanks again for your feedback!

As others said the controls are a bit janky, and it can end up being slightly frustrating other than that it looks cool, keep going and you will make even cooler projects

Also if you have the time you could play my game and rate it, i would love the feedback

Thank you for your feedback! I'll check it out rn.

The controls were a bit too difficult for it to be a game I would want to play long term (gave the game 15-20 minutes.) Because of the difficulty of moving in or out of your opponent's range at will, it often felt like luck whether I managed to hit my opponent because I didn't have control of my range or my direction. It also felt as though if the enmy decided to rush into me, I was all but dead unless I got crazily lucky. (2)

Presentation wise, very cool. I love newgrounds and this reminded me of the "newgrounds" artstyle. That said, the artstyle is quite simplistic, so it's hard to give it a max score. (3)

This is a very unique idea I haven't seen before, and I see a lot of potential in it, my biggest problem is that it doesn't feel like it relates to the jam much (which is fair because this jam's theme was very hard to work around.) (3)

Thanks for the feedback! What part of the controls was too difficult, if you don't mind? I'm open for suggestions!

I think this game has a lot of potential. It has a sort of old flash game charm that I like, and if the controls were made a little more intuitive and a little easier (while still keeping some of the chaos) it could be really good. Very cool idea, overall pretty well made, and very impressive for a first jam entry. Hope you try and reign in the controls a little, because it could be seriously fun!

Tysm!

I plan on making a full version of this after the jam is over! Do you have any suggestions for the game? Im open for ideas!

Just make it a little easier to control and smooth the camera a little :)

Alrighty, thanks!

Hey there! 👋

It’s been a while since the jam, but I just wanted to pop in and say that Magical Armageddon has come a long way since then! It’s way less punishing now, with new items, specials, a 2-Player mode, and you can now save your progress!

Also — I put your feedback about the controls and camera into consideration
You can now customize the controls and turn off camera spinning if you want things a bit smoother!

If you ever feel like giving it another shot, I’d love to hear what you think of the new version! (Ongoing Version)

Very cool to see you are still working on it! I gave it another try just now, and while I still think the controls are incredibly challenging, I did feel like I stood a better chance against the opponents than last time (if I remember correctly).

If I were you, I would still experiment with even easier controls - for instance try and see what happens if tapping W or S also stops or slows the player's rotation, or see what happens if you still need to tap W and S to move, but you can hold A and D to rotate (without tapping). A lot of the charm of the game is that it is chaotic so you still need some amount of unctrontrollability, but maybe the balance isn't quite there yet (for me at least).

Another thing I would suggest is to unlock mechanics more gradually. All the shops don't have to be unlocked from the start, and it can feel very overwhelming for new players to be presented with a bunch of item shops when they don't know the role of items yet.

But in any case it is very cool that you keep refining it - keep it up!

Hey, thanks so much for taking the time to try out the Ongoing version! I really appreciate your feedback. I’m glad to hear you felt a bit more comfortable with the controls this time.

I will consider adding an option to toggle between tap-to-rotate (classic) and hold-to-rotate, so players can pick whichever style feels best. I think it’ll make the game more approachable without losing the chaotic charm.

As for the shops, I actually really like this idea! This'll definitely ease up progression while making it more fair for new players, and also giving experienced players a sense of discovery as they gradually unlock new items and strategies throughout the game.

Really glad you’re enjoying the progress, and I hope you stick around for future updates! Your feedback is super helpful.

The game gave me motion sickness sadly and even after playing the tutorial i struggled controlling it :( I really like the presentation tho, it has a nice charm to it!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for the feedback! I'll see if I can fix this issue... what was it that was causing motion sickness, if you don't mind?

Submitted

its the like wobbling and spinning of the background which made me feel motion sickness, it was very rapid and inconsistent with its spinning which made it even worse. Im also just very susceptible to motion sickness in general in video games

Developer

Oki, i've added a setting to disable the camera spin in the main menu! My apologies for the inconvenience.

sorry but i dont feel fun, but i like anims in game, so if you make something on other engine with different atmosphere i think it would be cool

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! What did you find not appealing, if you don't mind?

maybe its just me, but how it works together isnt feel right to me, hope other would feel better on it

Developer(+1)

Oh ok, I understand.
