Damn, really impressive, the game is super polished, and the overall experience is great and really fun! I think the controls could be a little more responsive and maybe some tutorial levels would be nice too, but, like, the overall is really interesting and it's super impressive to see this amount of stuff done. Congrats!
Excellent game. When I booted this up, I was worried that I was going to end up sinking hours into this, but then it was over all too soon. The split between the overworld and randomly selected sub-stages is very reminiscent of Zelda II and similar styles of game, which when combined with resource collection mechanics and meta progression can make for an incredibly addictive gameplay loop. This scratched that itch just enough to make me reeeally want more. The movement and attacks were rather sluggish for a platformer, and I unfortunately couldn't figure out why wall jumps weren't giving me the height I thought they should, but the reverse high jump was a really fun inclusion and came in clutch a couple of times. One final note: for whatever reason, I was unable to explore the forest tile on the far right side of the screen. Just a heads up in case that wasn't just a time constraint thing.
Really impressive that you've created all this in such a short time. Your idea behind the game itself is great too, I really like the idea. Unfortunately I couldn't finish the game because I couldn't explore the last tile(forest) for some reason. Also, with so many platformer elements, I think movement should be a little snappier, like when you change running direction, immediately change it and don't wait until the other direction's velocity has run out (this is kinda what it felt like) before you actually start running in the other direction. Could just be personal preference though, I'm not sure.
And I didn't really die when I ran out of HP? And I could spam bombs on end, even though my counter was 0.
Very cool idea, very impressive what you've created solo within 1 week (UI, Art, Animations, Pickup/Craft logic, music and so on). Unfortunate I encountered so many issues :(
Oh and that super mario backflip-jump is fire! Took me a while to realize this exists, but then had a lot of fun with it :D
Nice game with really nice visuals, I'm impressed that you had made all the assets within the jam duration. The platforming however feel a little slow and finicky for me.
Hi! I really enjoyed the game — the movement feels interesting, and the transitions between locations were cool. Also, I was impressed by the number of animations for different player states — that really stood out.
The only downside is the high repetition of the same levels. It would have been great to see at least some variation in the forest areas.
(hehe)
The movement took a little bit to get used too but after that it was really fun! I was really surprised to see you did all of the assets solo. The music and art are very good!
I really liked the mixture between an overworld and a platformer but some of the levels were a bit repetitive, and the controls didn't feel really smooth, but I see great potential in a game like this. Great job!
The music is nice and the movement is quite smooth, though I had a bit of trouble getting the wall jump to consistently do what I wanted it to. Same with the backflip, which I very much like the inclusion of but couldn't make happen on purpose. It seems I'm immortal, and I have to jump to go through doors. The star of the show for me here is the freeform level selection system which does a great job of encouraging exploration. Even if there isn't a whole lot of variation from room to room, it psychologically makes me feel as though I'm uncovering something by completing them. Solid entry overall!
phenomenal, i only learned how to swap weapons on the last level so i was hitting bomb trick shots the whole time
Really nice game! I love the art style. However, I do have a few complaints, the levels feel a bit repetitive, the health system doesn't seem to work properly, and the player movement feels a little weird. But overall, it's a super nice game!
Yeah, those were some issues that came by trying to do so many things and not having enough time haha. The health system is indeed not working properly, and the levels variance is way too low. Thank you so much for playing!
