How does your game incorporate the theme?
In my game you are a snowman who doesn't want to melt into a puddle. As the sun heats you up, you become weaker and weaker. I interpreted the theme to be "you don't want to become not powerful/weaker"

Did you use any sort of AI during the development of your submission?

No

Let's trade feedback! I submitted a project too.

  • Visuals: The use of Pixel platformer packs are consistent. The level style makes total sense with the game's theme. Running from the sun was funny.
  • Mechanics: Platforms are not easy to make. The snowman's jump is floaty at times and then have to be super-precise at other times. Tweaking needed.

Recommendations:

  1. Look into recent indie platformers to see how they have breathing room to be off by a pixel or two. Also the jump is not as consistent. Instead adjust it to button press reaction time. For example a quick press of the spacebar means a small jump. Pressing the spacebar firmly then releasing means a large jump. Mario games have a level-of-sensitivity when pressing vs holding vs hold then release vs long hold for different jump heights and length.
  2. Some parts of the level are too unforgiving. The four springs back-to-back feels awful after barely missing one spring. Then there's a spring with spikes to the right of it just before the flag---the spring catapulted me right into spikes, multiple times.

I like how smooth controls are in this platformer, sense of urgency was nice, that sun is going to melt snowman if you are not fast enough

Nice work! I think the character controller would've benefited from a more dynamic jump and coyote time but you had a lot of different gizmos (springs, spikes, moving spikes) which was pretty cool. Keep it up :)

Pretty good game! (You made better platformer game in 48 hours, than me in 3 months) 👏
