I made good soup!

I enjoyed the difficulty ramp with the way the levels were constructed. Very polished and a lot of fun!

Submitted(+1)

Fantastic and super polished. Perfectly scoped and executed! Nice work.

This is such a great game! Super fast to pick up, very intuitive, and really addictive game loop. I kept trying to improve how fast I could get through each level to have the most efficient run, it was a lot of fun to play!

I also thought it was so cool that we both made very different cooking themed, time based games, about a witch collecting ingredients to put on a cauldron!

Developer

Gotta check that today! I honestly didn't want to make a typical cooking game, so the witch and the cauldron occurred to me and that's how it ended up, like that haha

First try (? It's fast and pleasing to the eye, the aesthetics are very well done, and the level design is entertaining. The waifu witch adds some points haha love it

Developer

Thank you very much! I actually had to scrap a better tilemap in the last 4 hours before I submitted it because it took way too long to design the levels, so it's a simplified version, I'm glad it's still good! The Witch sprite was the first thing I made for the game by the way.

With first try you mean first time you played it or... first itch.io entry? Because I got some people asking about that.

Submitted

Niiice! let me know if you submit an uploaded version containing the tilemap, i will play it!

Sorry, for the "first try" i forgot to upload the img, i meant that i win in first try with i suppose was a good score :d

Really like the art. In my opinion, the movement didnt feel very fun but that might just be me

Developer

It's most likely a mix of things, the slippery controls are a bit too slippery for some people, the dash is meant to help with that a lot, but some people have trouble aiming it, the camera also needs some adjustments because it's hard to see where you going at times so... There is a lot of room for improvement and accessibility, so yeah, thanks for your opinion. I will probably try some things post Jam.

Nicely done! Cozy artstyle and catchy music!

But also, i found some level design a bit frustrating, when i collected 9\10 ingredient, just to came to the pot and found out that i needed 10, and nearest last item is like 5 seconds away from me, maybe putting how much points to collect in the interface would've helped?

Developer

I agree, the bigger levels are a bit blind. Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+2)

This is so fun!! The level design is really good and is enjoyable to play!

Submitted(+2)

Great Game! The controls were amazing. Was very fun to play.

Submitted(+2)

Everything here was perfect. Great job!

Second try:

Nice!

I really enjoyed your game.

Small advice: In the project settings on itch.io you can extend the viewport dimensions and use fullscreen button from unity instead of fullscreen button from itch.io (disable Fullscreen button option in Frame options).

Developer(+1)

Thank you, it's the first time I upload to Itch.io so I'm very thankful, I applied the changes

Submitted(+1)

This is super impressive for your fist upload to Itch.io!

Submitted(+2)

I really enjoyed everything about this game. Graphics, music, the concept. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you <3

Awesome !! Had a lot of fun with this :) The boosts feel great but maybe having the input on a separate key would make it more accessible ? Small detail, overall amazing ! gg

Developer(+2)

Thank you! I tried that before (having the dash in a key), but didn't end up with it because it made the dash way easier to use. After the Jam I will figure out how to properly solve this. I thought adding a cooldown and moving it to a key plus dash refills (like celeste) could be a good solution.

Submitted(+1)

Yeah the balancing for dash must be rough :/ I think with the double tap it feels a bit hard to control where it goes, maybe the collection radius could be tiny when dashing and larger when moving normally? I'm sure you'll figure it out ! I'll keep an eye out for updates :)

Developer(+1)

I think for the next Jam I will try to get playtesting sooner because I could've improved the controls and the dash a bit more before uploading the build. Whatever changes I make will be after the Jam, and there's quite a lot regarding the dash and the "slippery" movement. I also want to increase the hitbox of the ingredients since they are a bit small and maybe add a power up, but that will be all post jam.

Submitted

I think a lot of movement and input can be player preference. Personally I thought double tap for dash was fun becuase I liked hitting the keys as fast as possible to dash all the way across each map, but I also understand other players preferring a separate dash key. If you decide to develop the game further, maybe that can be toggleable in the settings!

Once again, a truly fun game!

Developer

I also thought that, but apparently it is harder to aim the dash, so I will be trying things out, making it toggleable would make it hard for speedrun balancing, so I will probably limit it in other ways to make up for it. It also didn't help that the walls are flat and you hit your head on them, killing your speed most of the time xD.

I always appreciate fast-paced arcade-style games like this one, great work (especially considering you're a solo dev)!

Developer(+2)

Thank you! I honestly thought I wouldn't be in time haha, no pun intended.
