End life plan
The game will stay free to play, but I probably won't share any assets or codes, at least for now.
Also, some music were taken from https://hydrogene.itch.io/high-quality-8-bit-musics, which are under CC0. They're also cool.

Transparency note
No assets or codes were made BEFORE the jam.
Everything was made hours later AFTER the jam started.
No AI was used to create this game.

This is super fun! The overall aesthetic and audio is super pleasant too, so that’s always a nice touch :-) Great work!

Developer

Thank you :D

Very cool game in the game boy aesthetic, impressive what you did with the theme, and those sounds are very nostalgic well done.

Developer

Thank you!

Add something that gives you gold faster :)

The small screen (I played the web version) and the monochrome color palette made it hard for me to make out what was happening sometimes, but this was fun! I usually don't like tower defense type games, but something about this spoke to me. Maybe it was the Metalbloom, who I love. I got to the point where I had five towers when I pressed "escape" and I couldn't keep playing.

Developer(+1)

I'm happy that you enjoyed :D

The "Escape" button will let you literally close the game (if you have the Windows or Linux build), while in the Web version, it will just... "block" the game, so you can't play any more, and you have to restart the page.

Also, if you press F11, it will put into fullscreen mode!

I really liked the concept, if expanded, it could become something really great.

Developer

Thank you!

I might expand it in the future :D, even though this was just a small project.

Please upload an alternate build that has scaling mode on. I really like this game but it's too hard to play when it's so small. From what I was able to manage though it has a great concept and the limited lifetime thing doesn't feel tacked on. I would like to get far enough in the game to actually use the cards that grow ingots.

Developer

Thank you!

Yeah, the resolution is a bit small, but if you press F11, you can put into fullscreen mode.

As for now, there are only 2 cards that gives you extra iron ingots (if played well), but I might update the game in the future and add more things.

Submitted

Oh thanks! For some reason itch.io has not put it's custom fullscreen button on your game, and when I zoom in my browser, the game stays the same size. If you mention that in the description I think a lot of people will find that helpful.

Also just in case you find this funny, it took me a while to realize the 1st Mentak you get is not a vampire. I thought the bow was the vampire's cape and it was doing that batwing tpose thing vampires do when they want to look scary.

Developer

You're welcome!

Probably because it's a Godot game. IDK. If it was on Unity Engine, the fullscreen button will appear.

Anyway, I just edited the page and I mentioned the controls key. (btw thank you for the tip!)

Now that you made me notice, they actually look a bit like vampires... and he's T-Posing.

Really good approach to the tower defense genre and a smart and natural implementation of the theme. +1 for the aesthetics as well!

Thank you!

This is such a fun game. I am a big fan of BTD and PvZ so this game fed into those loves of mine. The color palette is so nice and I like all the animations you used. Especially the eyeball tower shooting. It's so cool! Great job! Also, if you have some time, I'd love to hear what you think about my game!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed!

Thank you and yes, I will try your game!

Cool Game! Love the style :D

Very cool and competent entry! It's an interesting mix of the jam's theme with a Plants vs. Zombies-style gameplay.

Developer

Thank you!

It was one of the few ideas that came in my mind to make some sort of PVZ mixed with the theme.

I had a good time! Took me a little while to understand I had to pick up the ingots. Also would have appreciated a full screen option or something like that. It was a bit hard to see what was going on at that resolution.

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Also, if you press F11, it should set on fullscreen.

Love the retro monochrome aesthetic of this game! I can see where you drew the Plants vs Zombies inspiration from; it’s one of my childhood games and one of my favorites as well, and you were able to nail the fun factor from that game here, great work!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Took a little bit of time to figure out it's a tower defense, but it was fun and I love the art style and sound effects, they fit really well together

Developer

Thank you!

I like the sound and artstyle. The game is similar to plants vs zombies but your defenses die over time. I'm ngl I was spam clicking one of the crystals next to the arcade expecting it to drop iron lol

Developer(+1)

Thank you! In fact, I took inspiration from PVZ (probably my favourite game ever)!

There's also a "metak" that does NOT give you iron ingot at all (which is the last one). It's pretty much like a "life-saviour".

This game was really confusing to play, and it did not tell you the instructions in-game at all. Nor do I remember finding a README.txt

Developer

Yeah, I wanted that the player figures out how to play the game.

Might be cooler if I actually insert some instructions.
