Gameplay was pretty nice, good job on the entry!
I had a pretty good time with this! The movement was really nice and I enjoyed the variety each enemy brought in terms of how to dodge and attack! Something I would recommend is the ability to choose how many potions you want to consume before moving on to the next wave. Having to choose 3 potions sometimes forced me to take an effect that I didn't want, although it did add more challenge and chaos to the game, making it more fun in turn. Overall though, the potion mechanic was still done really well and the game itself is still really good!
Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep in mind for my next games :)
A surprisingly addicting roguelike. Some form of indication for when you get hit would have been nice, but I think the difficulty was balanced well
Great idea and implementation. Loved the wizard powers and the potion seller.
Very cool game! Played it three times (and won everytime)
1. easy (way too easy)
2. Hardcore after winning (started at level I was after game 1 - way too easy)
3. Hardcore after restarting (fun but never died
I would have loved to try again on Hell mode :)
Graphics/Gameplay/Controls/Mechanics were all great
Sound was fine but could have been improved and some background music would have been appreciated
Theme was interesting and I enjoyed using logic to figure out which potions I should drink (fitting with the narratior wildcard: logic dictated drinking "bad" potions most of the time)
Thanks for submitting very impressive for your first game, looking forward to your next
Thank you! I never think sounds are 'SO' important - I'm one of those people who listens to spotify instead of the game OST unless I'm playing something super immersive - but with all the feedback and honestly, with playing all the other games on the jam with nice music and sound fx I'll pay attention to deliver a more complete experience moving forward! It's very nice feedback from everyone.
I agree the game is pretty relaxed now but I wanted it like that for the jam, my original idea was that you have to die on the first few stages till you get to level 5 (extra penetration) and then die on the next ones till you get to level 10 (another 1 penetration) to have a shot at the boss. But that was making the game a bit more repetitive then I wanted plus bit too long for a jam game so I overhauled the difficulty. Might have went a bit too easy with it :)
Cool concept! I agree with Dominic that the labels need to be color coded or the potions need the label above them. Overall super fun!
This is really nice, especially for your first ever Godot game! The core gameplay loop is pretty fun, and I liked how distinct each enemy type felt in terms of how they moved and how they attacked.
Just a heads up, you may want to add labels or different designs to the differently colored potions to further distinguish them. As of right now, distinguishing the potions only by color makes this portion of the game less accessible to those with colorblindness.
Other than that, nice work!
Oh that's a good one! I could have easily included in the 'F to pick up' text instead it could be 'F to pick red potion up'
This was pretty fun! I found those green flying guys pretty tough and died so many times to them but it was really good!
Originally those guys were faster than the player's initial movement speed till like level 5 :D It started out as a pretty hard game lol
Fun over all, but feels almost too punishing when the experience can de-spawn. I would have appreciated a SFX when you were hit as visually it was unclear unless I looked at my health and then I usually looked away too long and just died. I like the idea of an unreliable narrator giving you some correct information and some wrong information though I feel like they always lied to me :(
Imagine, I had the XP on a 5 second timer to make it risk/reward collecting XP, but that felt super punishing :D It's 10 seconds now for reference. I agree with the missing SFX. I'll need to make better on the sounds front in my next jam!
Fun rogue like, I enjoyed how machine gun fast my fireballs would hey once I got enough attack speed.
Some decent enemy variety keeps the game interesting.
I think the staff constantly shooting out those small red particles(Kinda looks like blood) made me thing I was getting hit so i was never really sure I took a hit unless I checked my health bar.
The unreliable narrator for the goblin is a cool idea but I think once I was on a rhythm I just spam chose potions and ignored the text to get to the next level.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to improve on some of the problems for my next games :)
Nice use of the wildcard to add a bit of random luck to post battle "upgrades". The random multi-attacks were quite helpful, though also added that bit of luck. I liked the idea of keeping your level for each run to encourage replays.
Thanks for the feedback!
that is very fun actually ,its like the fun and hard version of vampire survivors
Thank you for playing :)
Really great entry, had a lot of fun playing it, the wall of text at first is a bit scary and I forgot about the unreliable narrator at first x) Well done
Who needs tutorials when I can give all info in one batch, right? :D Thanks for playing!
I had so much fun playing this game! The polish and sound effects where awesome but I WISH there would have been some music. The art is beautiful and the game is super fun to play. Keep up the good work! (this is my first jam too)!
Yes, I wish I could have added music but as I'm not a composer that was last on my list and one of the first to get cut when time was getting tight! Next time I'll try to find something online that fits the theme and has CC0 licence.
hey! I make music maybe we can connect and I can help on your next jam?
Super creative! I think the art and animation is really cool! It's just a beautiful little polished game, and I thought the twist pertaining to the theming was so clever!
Thanks for the feedback!
Great take on the theme and on the wildcard!
A stat page to follow what happened would have been cool, mostly for the levels up!
Thanks for the feedback! Will keep in mind for the next games I make :)
Surprisingly immersive and fun, with more depth than I originally anticipated. Fun and addicting
Thanks for playing and the feedback!
Very cool game and concept, this is super impressive considering the time constraint of the game jam !
Thanks so much for playing :)
I like it! Mr. goblin being the unreliable narrator is a clever take on the wild card! :)
Thanks for the feedback and playing!
Interesting game with simple concept! Good job!
Thank you for playing!
