End life plan
The game will still be available on itch.io after the jam, I'll also later submit in the Pico-8's website. Since the game was made in Pico-8, the code and the cart would be available to see and modify.

Transparency note
Everything was done after the jam started. I've recently started to learn pico-8 and used this jam as a learning experience.

A wonderful game.☺️.My game started out as a snake as well, which was a very interesting coincidence.

17581, great game with so much potential. Would make a great phone app with some additions!

I really liked your game! If if could give some feedback, I think the design of your "walls" doesn't indicate that you can pass through them. There are many snake implementations and in many of them if you hit a wall you die. Because the edges of the walls are different color, i thought that I would die if I run into them 😅.

Still, I really like your implementation of the theme as well as the art style!

I would also appreciate if you could rate my project :)

Oooo I really the fact that the tail cuts off. The fact that the decayed parts don't exactly disappear (at least the total amount of them never goes down) is also really cool. Things get claustrophobic really fast.

Putting an indirect time constraint on snake to force fast decision making is a good idea, as is having hitting the tail "cut" rather than be an instant game over. The hazards do a good job of getting you to the more engaging part of snake quickly.

You can’t go wrong with Snake and this version brings its own unique flavor! The decay mechanic adds a nice bit of tension, and the visual style fits perfectly. Great job capturing that classic arcade feel while still making it your own. Really fun to play!

Very cool mix of the classic snake game and the jam's theme! I really enjoyed playing it and had some "Oh, that's cool" moments

Fun Game, Cool Concept!

Submitted

I really liked the game, very creative on the original snake concept. Keep it up!

Simple but very cute! This is a fun twist on the original snake concept - a little more forgiving and it also adds an entertaining sense of dread watching your own tail decay…LMAO

Very cool spin on snake. I like that besides dodging my tail I have to dodge other obstacles to get to the food

Great little snake game with cute graphics and perfect controls.

Very good game

but What is the thing that comes out from behind him?

Developer(+1)

it's your decayed body. the tail is constantly "dying" and if you take too much time to eat, it'll fall off your body and stay on the floor as an hazard. my pixel art skills aren't the best, sorry :D

very fun

i got ~20000 points, and i thought this was really well put together and that it was a really interesting twist on the simple snake game

Developer

Thank you! :)

survived for 5 minutes and 20 seconds (20968points). i like how the idea is simple, being the classic snake, but just with that twist! makes the game more interesting I guess. game looks very nice for being your first time at pico-8! :D

Developer

Thanks! I do have many years of experience in coding just never did a game before, specially in Lua (I'm mostly a Javascript dev)

Score was 6180! I really like this idea and it was really well achieved! Is it possible to completely fill the screen? You might have to get really lucky!

Developer

Yeah you would have to be REALLY lucky ahah. While this game gets easier than the original in the beggining, on the late game it gets much harder
