Bro, really incredible game! It's very polished, the art style is very good, and I liked the gameplay overall, and yes, I played your tutorial before the game itself lol. I'm saving to my library to play again later cause I really liked, congrats!

I REALLY like the art-style. The animations, controls, style is so so slick. I adore the pen throwing, it feels really satisfying.

My main complaint is my mouse kept getting set to visible. So I kept mousing over to my second monitor.

Good performance though! I played the web build and it wasn't that bad!

Wonderful job, absolutely loved it! <3

I really enjoyed playing this! I love the progression and it feels really nice to play, feels like a procrastination focused version of Ultrakill (well, atleast with the movement and shooting). Movement felt very rewarding and the unique enemies were really fun to encounter, and the power ups felt appropriate for the game. I appreciate the ability to change the keybinds, however I don't think they worked (I changed my slap to a side button and still had to use Q), and I would've liked a crosshair just so I had a better idea of where I was throwing my pens. Also, it heal from the slap felt very underwhelming, and I'd like an EXP bar for some visual feedback (and some music would be nice but I figured that didn't come in due to time)

Overall, really fun game I loved playing it and would to love to play a more polished verison later :D

very challenging, but, very enjoyable at the same time :)

Pretty good game! Killing the enemies is really satisfying and I love that we also get to slap them!

Good job! I felt like there was a bit of feedback missing expecially for the pen weapon since you don't really see it selected and the ammo counter is really small, and I kept accidentally clicking the middle upgrade when the upgrade screen popped up (which wasn't really predictable). But apart from that what's there is a good start! I especially like the 2d art. Again, good job!

Its a fun game! Loved to play it! The art is pretty cool and fits very well with the game. The movements felt very smooth, bit the camera tilting threw me off a bit at the begining. Also, I'd like to see a bit more music and maybe some audio clue of where the "minion" enemies are! Overral a pretty good game!

Fun little game, although I am really, really bad at it.

Overall great entry!

I felt the tutorial only a slight bit misleading... i thought at first it would be more a parcour-focus evade/kill -second type of game.
I have two problems with the crouch mechanic:

1. The usage in the tutorial is clear, to pass obstacle. But in the actual wave-generating arena, i thought that i rather move as fast as possible.

2. C to crouch? I mean makes sense, but im getting a strong ctrl-vibe here.

All that being said - both game-modes felt like individual games for themselves... would loved more parcour, but the area fight was fun aswell.

And the art is astounishing!

Lots of great feedback here! Tutorial was made before the main gameplay loop, and it's purpose is more to introduce the controls rather than the mechanics (slap being the exception). Crouch came free with the movement system, but no we did not incorporate into the gameplay because it didn't have a place. We bound it to C because Walmart-wan found out about Ctrl + W.  I wanted to incorporate more movement as well into the gameplay but well, I had 50 more pressing tasks at the time. The reason the level isn't a flat plane is because beyond visual interest, I was hoping it would create more interesting movement in game. Hmm. I am just realising that the wall around the arena is a bad thing for that goal.

Edit: Pleased you like my art <3

The visual identity combined with the theme and designs are all Amazing! Gameplay is great too! and upgrades are always fun. Great work, would love to see this expanded.

Developer

Thank you! Beyond the post-jam update, we may or may not be releasing on steam after! So keep your eyes peeled!

I feel maybe the parameters overall need a bit more tweaking, specially the camera tilt when moving sideways, but it speaks volumes for the game that despite that I had an incredible time. The aesthetic is amazing and the sounds really pleasing as well, with a bit more tuning on the numbers I feel this would kick real ass, great job! :>

hi! i tried your game, i liked the visuals and the progression. It was fun!

Submitted(+1)

love the art style and game concept! I just got frustrated over not knowing where I'm aiming so I died easilyTvT

Liked the game, was fun trying to reach further than my previous runs. Loved the visuals and the idea for the game, just wish there was a mark on the screen that told you where you're aiming the pens.

Oh I tried changing the crouch keybind during the tutorial and when I die it just reset.

Developer

Sorry about the lack of a crosshair, it was an oversight on my behalf.  I played close-range, which does not require much aiming especially given the size of the pens.

As for keybinds, they were a last minute addition, did not have time to test them. Oh well, more stuff to fix for a post jam update.

Very neat game! I like this nice black and white artstyle and overall motif and how enemies fitted it. Gameplay is also quite entertaining and makes me think of mashup between ultrakill and vampire survivors. As mentioned before, exp bar would be helpful. Very good job!

I enjoyed abusing the dash ability lol. Loved the creativity with the weapons but i wish some of the enemies had better explanations because i had no idea what some of them were actually supposed to be doing with their attacks (probably cause i sniped them from afar so that was probably my fault lol). Other than that it was pretty fun to play.

Very fun game I liked using the paper airplane attack and the dash was satisfying however the jitter by movement made aiming very annoying which is why I didnt use the pen and also if there was a gauge for how much exp is left to level up and the amount of hp you have is very unclear however other than that very solid I liked the messaging and the creative enemy's that came out of it I really like how it fits the theme good job!

Developer (1 edit)

Jitter by movement? I think you might be talking about the hypnosis phones, they pull your camera to look at them. Also thank you <3

Oh I had no idea! I'll give it another try then and focus on killing them then

Enemy design is neat, I like the tightness of the controls. The only issues I got on my time playing it were some stutters when a new object/effect would spawn, but that is more a webgl fault (I assume also a firefox thing)  than a game fault and only happens the one time new stuff  is on screen, so don't worry about it. Good job

Augh! So simple but so satisfying and fun! The SFX do a lot for the responsiveness and the hit-thumps are banging. Love the simplicity in it, very fun (even though I couldn't get past wave two TvT)

Developer

Do try to get past the rest of the waves later, we have lots of cool enemies! you can always reduce difficulty through the difficulty slider

really really cool and so satisfying. a lot of games here miss out on good player feedback but DAMN those slaps feel good. a crosshair would have been nice tho since its really easy to miss with the pencil
