Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
you start out as a spaceship in the void, to get started, you must find fuel and hop from planet to planet to hyperdrive back to your home system

Love the artwork, and the concept is interesting

I struggled a bit to get the grasp of the game, but once I did it was fun.

Keep up the work.

Pretty interesting concept, I can see potential in this. I hope you add some sort of map system so you don't just fly off hoping to get to a new planet with some materials you need. On that note I also found a bug that if you keep spinning your ship with your mouse around a planet, you could repeatedly get the same amount of resources again and again.

I really like the visual aesthetics of the game, I only hope there were also sounds.

I loved the PixelArt and the concept of the game. The start was a bit confusing tho,  and i don't know if it was me or if thats intended but it felt laggy (from an FPS pov), when fullscreen.

Developer

yeah the start was kinda a last minute thing. I don’t know why there is lag, it wasn’t intentional

I really love the look of this game, and it's super creative to get upgrades from planets by landing on them correctly. But I found it difficult to understand it at some points. I couldn't figure out how to land on a planet without taking damage. How does one do that?

Developer

It's a little tricky, but you basically have to go towards the planet, turn around, and thrust the other way to deaccelerate towards the planet and land slowly. it's a lot easier with the turn speed upgrade. I ment to make a reverse thrust upgrade but ran out of time.

Ah I see! Just played the game again, and its really fun to explore and hope for a planet to appear. Turning around and slowing down  for a safe landing is a cool mechanic. It's a little hard to know if the way I'm going really has any planets. Keeping the 'visibility' for the planets low to keep the mystery of if there's really a planet out there is cool and a good feature, but maybe something like a map with a small view with the planets appearing like dots on the map could have better indicated where I was in space and any close by planets in the vicinity. Also, possibly something which tells me how far I am from my starting position so I have some perspective on how far I've travelled. Cool stuff, look forward to what you do in the future!

Ok I have the updated veiwport settings at https://wgnellis.itch.io/spudnuk01   as far as gameplay, follow the compass to planets and land on them, (with the thruster pointing at the planet, not just running into it) to get resources. also read the tutorial that is ingame

Love the pixel art, but it's unclear how or where to get hydrogen or where I'm supposed to go

Also seems like fullscreen is broken (at least on browser)

good concept, love the graphic, but gameplay? I cant play, I dont know how to get atoms from planets and viewport is bugged. So much potential here

Nice pixel art!

I'm having a hard time playing. Might be my set up. It went full screen right away, and then I couldn't see the bottom of the GUI. Has promise those, reminds me of star valor and the like.

Developer

Are you playing on a PC? when I set it to embed the actual dimensions of the game I got scroll bars which were annoying. I switched to full screen cuz it worked on my end.

Browser on PC.
