this game was really challenging, the one way platforms give a getting over it vibe, really frustrating but in a positive way. The controls feel nice i just couldn't play more bc i'm not good at it.
The concept and creativity is great, but I just couldn't play it...
I could hardly move off of the ground, the controls weren't really receptive, and the jumps were a little laggy.
I really wish I could play it, but I've already spent some 10-15 minutes with no progress...
I'm really sad I couldn't play it fully, but congrats for making your first game!
thanks anyway, there is still a lot of work ahead for me lol
I'm sure that just doing more game jams, getting more feedback and just making more games will definitely make you even better :)
I hope you continue to do games, if that's what you like, because it can be quite hard or frustrating, but it's worth the while...
I also hope you had fun whilst making the game, that's the most important!
Yeah i had a lot of fun, i really think this is the path i want to take with my life, i just gotta keep going till im better.
Wish you the best as well
Flappy bird meets Jump King!
The concept is pretty cool. Pretty brutal w/ the insta-falls and one-way platforms lol
My main thought is that the controls don't feel as precise and the visuals don't provide a lot of feedback for how difficult the game is. Maybe a more gentle difficulty curve could help, but the big would be making the character stand out a bit more and also make it clear what direction they're facing
There were a lot of times where I lost track of the character because they're the same color as the background, or I ended up jumping in the opposite direction because the character is just a blank square lol
There's definitely an interesting game here w/ some additional polish though
Really cool!
I tried moving at first with the wasd but it seems you cant change position in the air but once i got the arrow keys I start playing and I must say i could see an streamer playing this the same way they could with jump king or another game or sorts, there is an area where you get stucked if you fall ther is one of the diamonds to the left you cant stop bouncing from one place to the other. But it is a great job!!
The player controller feels pretty good generally, and the foundation of the game is good, but there is also some good growth opportunities too that could be improved. Like adding more feedback/juice for the player actions, or adding sounds/music/visuals, etc.
Overall as I say, it's a good game. Although the level design seems brutally unforgiving even by Fodian standards, lol. There is a lot of sections where one mistake sends you back literally to the ground floor, followed by big chunks that only send you back 5 seconds, then more sections that send you back to the very start. I think many games are a bit more reserved with those "fully wipe your progress" sections, but what do I know tbh
Overall it's a good game foundation with some solid potential too
I can tell this is a rage game, and it does a good job of that, but I think you should make the start a little easier. One way you could fix this is to move the start up, and to have the new beginning feel SUPER easy for you. this is still a very fun game
Came back and finally beat it:) But the first time it was cause I "cheated" maybe by hopping on those platforms at the top and clipping through the one way floor Did it in 15 min, but the second time (I had to) I did NOT cheat and here is my time, sub 1 minute club :
Also, sometimes I got stuck between cube and wall just bouncing non-stop, which gave me a reason to reset the time aha.
A game that shows that you do not need to go all fancy on visuals to be engaging... very nice and clean. takes a bit to get used to the controls but once you do, smooth sailing (till you hit a wall and ceiling and get sent back to the start, skill issue on my part tho). I wish it had full controller support, I can seem to move with controller but not jump. Adding sound effects would only add to the experience, helping give a bigger feel for jumps/landings. I hope you work more on this as it is a solid base.
Tough game, but fun! Love the clean and simple look. I just wish there were some sound effects and music.
Was difficult to get used to controls, when you press just space bar but character jumps to the left, instead of just going up. But this is a classic platformer, very good first game.
Cool entry! It's funny because I'm actually working on a big project that's very very similar to this, so it was cool to see someone else's take on "flappy bird platformer"
It took me a while to get the controls, but once I understood them it was really fun. It definitely seems designed as a rage game like Getting Over It, but with flappy bird controls. Awesome game, I think it could do well with some animations, sounds, and maybe a short tutorial. I really liked the controls once I got them figured out and overall I thought it was super fun. Good job 👍
The controls feel responsive, the gam is fun but frustrating(which is, of course, intended:D), so I can with confidence say that it's a fun, great game!
The concept is pretty creative but for me the controls are just too hard and unresponsive it felt even inconsistent.
The idea is nice, and I think if you work on it and make it smoother to play it could be really fun!
I saw that a lot of people did like the controls so maybe it's just not for me and that's ok!
The style is simple, and it works! when you add SFX it would be really satisfying
Overall good work!
Good rage game! xD
The controls were interesting, and it took some time to get used to them. After that though, it was quite fun to find the right rythm between jumping and changing direction. The level design was very punishing, and personally I liked the beginning the least because it was very easy to hit the walls without feeling like I made much progress. I spent a little over 30 min playing without reaching the top, but I might come back to try finish it later.
controls were a bit strange to figure out first, but then i figured it out and found tech where i spammed left and right to go pseudo-straight up. hell of a lot of fun, even if i haven't finished it yet
Clever game. I like the idea of a platformer with flappy bird mechanics. I think you need to work a bit on the level design to make the early levels a little more player friendly. I found some parts a bit hard in the beginning. That being said the core game play and idea are very solid and I could easily see this as a steam title once completely finished. Overall really well done.
Great job on your first game! The controls are interesting because it adds another layer of difficulty on top of the standard timing your tap right in Flappy Bird. It took me a few minutes to understand how exactly the controls work and that hitting a wall basically stops my inputs from registering until I drop. But once I understood better how the game works I had fun trying to get past the first part of the level. Good job!
Really enjoyed this game. Reminds me a lot of jump king and getting over it with the almost unwelcoming yet fair controls and the unforgiving nature of a single mistake. Could definitely see this being developed further to have different areas that guarantee some safety if you fall so you do not end up back at the start every time, and then each of these areas elaborating on the controls with some new mechanic possibly. Great game!
