A fun variation on snake. Great SFX and graphics. Sometimes the input feels a little unresponsive to me but that could be a problem on my end. The terrain really made the this a lot more interesting than standard snake

Developer

I think it is not just you with the unresponsiveness. From time to time I had such issues too when testing, though I felt as a minor issue and didn't have that much time, so I forgot to take a look at it.

Loved the audio and the overall aesthetic, although I did find it hard at times to tell what was a ramp vs a wall vs an open spot. Really great idea though.

Cool art with a great pallete!

I love a good Snake game!

This was a fun take on Snake and I had a good time! I appreciated the different mechanics you included to add layers to the gameplay, like the different map layouts and pill effects. The inclusion of changing the game speed to your liking was also really nice and I found the audio to be really charming!

I though the color choices were really nice. The bridges are a good way to spice up the traditional snake gameplay.

Developer

the idea with the color choices I had already in my mind before, depending on the game I would create.

The bridges I added rather late, they were not present in the first iteration. With the second iteration I also slightly changed the perspective and did some tweaks to scoring and pill probabilities.

Cant believe I am playing snake again, but as a cat. Very unique artstyle and audio selection, especially for the music.  The pill mechanic and each having a different effect is clever and a very good base to expand the gameplay.

Snake certainly fits the theme. The pills were an interesting take on snake. I like them doing different things.

10/10 for the meow

also the graphic style was nice!

Snake is a good classic use of theme consume, I like you trying to do your own take of it.

The 3d stages look really nice and add some complexity to a simple game, but sometimes I had trouble discerning what was a wall on sight(mostly in the 3rd stage). After figuring out it by smashing my head a few times it's not so much a problem.

Cool game.

Looks like you used a 3D scene with pixel textures. I like that, it's sharp.  The gameplay is snake, so thats pretty familiar. But there's lots of good unique charm here. Well done.

Developer

yeah, I am mostly used to 3D games and also love games myself that are between 2D and 3D, including 3D games with a more 2D perspective like this, or the other way around for example 2D games with pre-rendered 3D elements. So I went for this pixel art style but with some depth.

Interesting take on Snake! I was surprised by playing as a cat, what is the idea behind that?

Developer

After a bit brainstorming I first had the idea of a caterpillar, from which I played with the word: caterpillar >> pillarcater >> pillarcat. The idea of consuming pills was already before too, so more or less, "pill" in caterpillar and the name pillarcat was a coincidence, after which I decided not just to turn the caterpillar into a cat, but rather a "caterpillar" with cat head and pill tail.
