How does your game fit the theme?
This is me getting started on my first ever project that I've actually managed to get working somehow. It is also about "getting started" on leaving the gave but there's not much creativity besides that lol

It's super pretty! I love the sparkly visual effects >< Using W to jump instead of spacebar just kept taking me out sadly haha >< But visually it's super stunning!
Beautiful art! The mood and all the particles are super pretty!
I personally prefer my jump on Spacebar, so I had to get used to using W, but I got used to it fast. This game is so hard though. I love myself a challenge thought.
I think either the spike or player hitbox is a little too big, so when I slide down a wall which has spikes on the ceiling, i die to them if i go straight down, which is a little frustrating.
But amazing game, very well done!
The movement are nice , but i think this game is for high skill veteran 2d platformer players since the part later on is quite hard , and you get spawn straight back to the begining for touching the spikes being very punishing . The lighting of the game is quite nice setting the atmosphere well
I really liked this game. And my stuborn *ss did do two runs just because I thought I glitched the game at the end of the level (going slow and observant on the first one, and happily blasting through it on the second). So I do have some feedback for potential improvements:
- The player movement is way too slippery, and dying because of it is quite frustrating,
- The player character keeps all momentum upon respawning instead of losing its velocity, so you end up dying for no reason,
- The hitbox of the character is too large,
- The camera takes a bit of time to go back to the character whenever you die (not as bothering, but I feel like it was worth mentionning).
On a more personal note, having the jump being the "W" button - which also serves as the "up" button - felt strange and made dashing witout double jumping tricky.
And all in all, it was a fun experience. I'd love to be able to play more levels of it. It's pretty and the platforming (aside from the soapy shoes) was fun.
Really well done platformer with beautiful art and particles, although i have some suggestions to improve the game:
- the camera takes too much time to center on the player which is hard to see the screen when the camera is moving and the player is standing still.
- the collision mask of the player seems to be the full sprite which in most of the good platformer games they reduce it to middle center to make it seem and feel more fair.
- animation for wall jump will improve the game so much because it gives the player feedback.
but the game itself is really well made not to mention the main menu which i loved it the tree particles falling slowly add so much to the ambient, really well done on that one.
This is very fun. I like trying to master the layout. This is very Celeste like, and that's awesome. For a first jam, this isn't bad at all!
Beautiful visuals! ✨
Very challenging platformer, but in it's current state, I think the difficulty wasn't as intended, the spikes are inconsistent, I would sometimes be able to walk on them and sometimes not, the camera follow is super aggressive, I'd suggest adding some camera smoothing, the lack of feedback on a lot of movement options makes it difficult to tell whether I can wall jump or no, from what I can tell there's no visual indicator for that, lastly when you get hit my the spikes you just respawn instantly which is very disorientating, I'd suggest maybe a death cd, or some sort way to communicate to the player that they've been hit.
Overall, congratulation on making your first game, it is honestly a miracle that any of us newbie were able to get a game done within such a short time span, good job! 🎉🎉
This is a challenging time. A little more feedback on the spike collision would be slick. I am currently just slamming myself into them over and over in a nonstop loop lol. But excellent job!
its good but really hard
I wish I could give better advice on how to improve the feel of the gameplay itself. The collisions sometimes push you upwards while you're halfway into a block. When hugging walls, you could hit spikes from the sides, even when not exactly holding the direction. I would recommend making the sides of spikes not kill you, as that can be frustrating.
While the lack of a death animation helped to make it easier to get back into the action, it also lends itself to very aimlessly attempting the platforming sections over and over without really teaching the player anything.
Personally speaking, the one handed control scheme made the game feel a little strange to play. I feel like it would have been a little easier to simultaneously dash, jump, and move in the direction I wanted to correctly had I controlled the player with one hand and their moves with another. Since this section is more subjective, I would also like to point out that I felt like the amount of moves made the game feel a little convoluted. I feel like a few good moves to structure your platformer around, as well as their quirks and gimmicks would be nice, but having wall jumping, double jumping, dashing, reset jumps with wall jumps, etc. made it feel like it'd be possible to cheese through more open levels if given the chance. This isn't entirely a bad decision, having a high skill ceiling is cool, but in a final game it might help to introduce those mechanics gradually.
This leads me to yet another opinion I have, and it's that I feel like this game is a little claustrophobic? The size of the player paired with the size of the obstacles and the height of the ceilings in the rooms felt like they were all working against each other. This, alongside the vision impairment the darkness provides from the spikes just felt disorienting to play against. I feel like if you were to have a larger character, it would be more fair to go for larger obstacles and pieces of terrain.
I hope this doesn't come off as harsh, I am very passionate about platformers and this is one of the first I played in this jam, but I didn't write a piece about it until now because I wanted some time to gather my thoughts constructively. I would really love to see another pass done on this game, with bugs fixed and potential level design improvements!
I had fun playing the game
I like the sprite of the character, I think it looks good, in general, I like the game visually and it’s good in difficulty. I tried the no dash challenge but I stopped doing it until the spikes turned black, after the red ones. Mostly because the hitbox feels a bit too big vertically in that part or at least I would like to see the character touching it, also it adds more visual feedback that you hit the spikes. I only could do the jump once to die at the last jump haha, so it was actually possible to finish it, I just got lazy in trying the jump without dash.
I can see myself playing more of this if it were longer and a bit more polished in the hitbox, the dash can be fun and was a nice experience!
Also, those spikes don’t kill and I’ll come back if you fix the ending post game jam!
Nice game ^_^
A challenge to be sure, but not one that was too difficult to surpass. There were definitely some bugs here and there, but the artwork was good and the levels weren't so challenging or unfair that I felt it was impossible. A good level of challenge!
The difficulty ramps up too quickly but the artwork is splendid and the mechanics felt nice and responsive.
I can see the struggle in developing a platformer and some features. But I could finish the game despite the visible flaws. The artwork is really nice.
Excellent visuals! I think I have playtested the game before.
The platformer is well done, although difficulty was way to much for me
I couldn't make it very far due to difficulty unfortunately. Excellent graphics however!
Visually, the game is on point, lovely art. Controls could use a bit of a polish for precision platformers like this I think the small momentum on letting go of input while on the ground doesn't really fit cause it is unexpected extra distance, hitboxes feel a bit weird but I did managed to finish the game and if stuff gets improved, I'd love to come back and play it again!
The spikes seemed to have a larger hitbox than expected, making the game a bit hard.
But anyway, beautiful visuals!
I do wish there was a bit more background music. After I clicked start it cut out.
Still a fun little platformer :)
Wait dont tell me the 2nd song stopped working for no reason 😭
a bit buggy with the spikes, but it was fun
